U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz claimed on Tuesday that he has enough votes to prevent current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy from becoming House speaker in January. Speaking on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, he said that of the 36 Republicans who voted against McCarthy during the initial vote last week, five of them — which is apparently enough to stop his confirmation as speaker — have vowed to vote “no” again come the final vote in January. Listen: (Video) “To catch everyone up, last week there were 36 votes against Kevin McCarthy

What's the probability that some demorats cross over to vote for McCarthy to get the vote total above 218? I assume they would be happy with McCarthy; who is a uniparty rino. They know he isn't going to upset the feeding trough.

Loose lips sink ships. I wish the republicans would stop telling dems what they plan on doing. The democrats are so devious, they always manage to stop whatever the republicans say they will do. Don’t say it. Just do it.

The Speaker of the House is not like those Senate leadership elections. It's a Constitutional office with a public vote. A nominee needs a simple majority to take the gavel. The usual process is that each party votes for their respective leader. McCarthy has the votes to be the caucus leader, and then the pressure is on Gaetz and his associates to ensure the Republican nominee is the winner. Gaetz, et al, may think they hold the cards, but they may be dumping theirs on the floor...and payback is what it is for failure. Let's see the stuff Gaetz is made of when the votes are cast and recorded. The Republicans have a five vote majority...and here comes the whip to count votes. What say you, Matt? Andy Biggs? Bob Good? Matt Rosendale? Ralph Norman?

Nothing of note will emerge from the House with Kevin McCarthy as speaker. They will use bold words when cameras and mikes are pointed in their direction, but Republicans in the leadership will revert to RINOism because probably there is money to be made, and beloved bookings on Sunday news/talk shows. RINOs love press adulation. So...things hated by L dotters will continue unchanged.

Kevin McCarthy's "conversion" is only for show to get the coveted position of speaker. All of his recent tough talk and big plans will never come to fruition if he gets to hold the reins on his party. McCarthy is as uniparty as it gets. Hang tough Gaetz and the other four fighters!

The opposition has no viable alternative. Without that, they should just shut up. They don't do the conservative movement any favors by bragging they can stop McCarthy with no plan to do anything else. The conservatives have been extracting public promises from McCarthy that he does not want to give. If they keep doing this quietly, it will be much more effective.

A lot of whether "stop McCarthy" is going to be of any benefit has to do with WHO replaces him. When McCarthy replaced Ryan - there was no appreciable change in anything, different face, slightly different behavior but no real change in the RINOism that runs the "Republican/Uniparty" leadership in DC. It SEEMS like Steve Scalise would be a good choice, but I'm not 100% certain.

I have, at best, a neutral opinion of Gaetz, and a slightly positive opibnion of McCarthy. Ever since the reforms of the 1990s, the Speaker doensn't have the powers he used to have, and those powers kept caucus members in line.

Speaking of Jim Jordan. Where the heck is he? OH, the great Jim Jordan is supporting Kevin McCarthy for Speaker. So, incredibly disappointing. Why are the names of all of the so-called Freedom Caucus members not listed as voting against McCarthy? McCarthy is not smart and he is not a gutter fighter which is what you need when dealing with the human scum that are congressional democrats. I always though Jordan was a good fighter. But, now, he is as lame as the once vaulted Trey Gowdy who did absolutely nothing with the Benghazi hearings. That kid from Florida, Bryon Donalds should be Speaker. Pretty boy McCarthy should not become Speaker because along with the donuts loving Ronna Romney, totally BLEW the 2022 elections. Two totally useless individuals. It's a shame that that scum McConnell is still in a leadership position. He's even worse than Pretty Boy and Donuts, as he ACTIVELY ensured a republican senatorial loss. He should be in jail. At this point, the republican party is only slightly better than the democrats. Bryon Donalds for Speaker!!!

Online shoppers set new Thanksgiving day record 9 replies

Americans set a new record Thanksgiving day record, spending $5.29 billion in online shopping on Thursday. Thursday's amount represented a 2.9% increase from last year. Shoppers typically spend about $2 billion to $3 billion online in one day, according to data shared by Adobe. Mobile shopping -- purchases made through smartphones -- accounted for 55% of online sales, an all-time record for Thanksgiving Day since 2012. Vivek Pandya, a lead analyst at Adobe, told CNBC that the increase was driven by demand, as consumers shrugged off record-high levels of inflation. Online sales haven't been driven higher by inflation like store sales, since e-commerce is largely made up of electronics, apparel and other durables

Not a week had gone by after the midterm elections before California governor Gavin Newsom’s presidential possibilities were being talked up. A Republican consultant even suggested Joe Biden ask for Kamala Harris’ resignation and appoint Newsom as his vice-president. Biden could then either resign himself, leaving Newsom president, or position him to run as semi-incumbent in 2024. No matter what turns the journey takes, there will be a train wreck at the station. Don’t be fooled by the governor’s margin of victory this year (59-41) and in 2018 (62-38). He has done nothing in his public life that recommends him for the presidency. Popular, yes, competent, no.

A Democrat has suddenly become an “election denier” after her race was narrowly overturned following the sudden discovery of missing votes on a memory card. The previously uncounted votes on a memory card changed the election outcome in Cobb County, Georgia, officials say. See you Monday,” Orochena wrote in the social media post. However, Orochena’s victory was short-lived, after the memory card were discovered last Wednesday.
