I have never considered that my patronage of a business, or the lack thereof, would make or break the enterprise. So, I find it amusing that D-list celebrities believe their threats to leave Twitter could make any difference when it comes to the company’s bottom line. This week, stars who haven’t been relevant in years, such as Toni Braxton and Sara Bareilles, announced that they would leave Twitter in the wake of its purchase by SpaceX founder Elon Musk. These people who are leaving only interact with people on Twitter who have the same views as themselves so any hate speech they are seeing is from their own followers or people that they follow.

I still dont get it. I had a twitter account for about a month in 2016. It was such absolute garbage I deleted it. Literally millions of people all saying things and it scolls by so fast you cant even read it. Complete waste of time. I do have a facebook but only use it for family and friend stuff. No politics. For the truth I go to GAB, and to a lesser extent 4chan. Both have their share of sickos and flakes, but when you weed out that stuff there is plenty of interest.

Will Biden Gamble on a Ukraine Coalition? 14 replies

When Napoleon Bonaparte began his 1812 campaign to conquer Russia, he led the largest “coalition of the willing” in history. (snip)Today, the Biden White House appears to be considering the use of a multinational force aimed at Russia. The NATO alliance is unable to reach a unanimous decision to intervene militarily in support of Ukraine in its war with Russia. But as signaled recently by David Petraeus, the president and his generals are evaluating their own “coalition of the willing.” The coalition would allegedly consist of primarily, but not exclusively, Polish and Romanian forces, with the U.S. Army at its core, for employment in Ukraine.
Wisconsin Court Shoots Down Attempt to

A Wisconsin judge on Wednesday dealt a blow to a group in the state who hoped to change rules governing absentee ballots, denying their request that local election clerks accept absentee ballots that contain partial addresses of witnesses. Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas said in his ruling (pdf) that in the past 56 years that Wisconsin elections have been conducted, and absentee ballots counted, they have apparently been done so “without a legally binding definition of the witness address.” The judge noted that the nearly 60 years of precedent was enough to determine whether an absentee ballot has enough of a witness address to count.

Most people are unaware that in this senate election cycle New York Senator and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is up for reelection. National media have ignored mentioning the Schumer -vs- Pinion race. Few people, even those in New York, realize that Chuck Schumer is on the ballot next week. Republican candidates in New York are surging and there is a potential, slight though it might be, for Schumer to be defeated in his race. If every New York state voter that supports Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin also votes for New York Senate Republican candidate Joe Pinion, there is a path for Schumer to be removed from

N8 Ag (Nate Silver) of 538's refusal to concede that Democrats had no chance of keeping the House in the midterm elections puzzled me. Come on. Republicans just need to take 5 measly seats. But N8 opened his forecast season on June 1 by saying Democrats had a 14% chance of keeping the House. He refused to lower it to the <1% chance that history and Biden's miserable approval ratings dictated.(snip)N8 is merely following the Democrat Narrative which says abortion turned white suburban moms against Republicans and passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (the Green New Deal) will gin up Democrat enthusiasm next week. Next week, the Supreme Court will have a chance to save the free market economy from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Even as the court reins in the administrative state, the FTC is advancing new rules and novel theories that stretch the limits of its mandate. Under its progressive chair, Lina Khan, the FTC wants to cancel the gig economy, cripple the ad-supported internet, and address racial justice, rather than simply protect consumers. In Axon Enterprise v. FTC, the court could take a big step toward cabining the FTC within its statutory and constitutional authority. Axon itself involves a narrow procedural question of whether someone can raise certain constitutional challenges to

The U.S. Supreme Court on Nov. 1 blocked Congress from obtaining former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Chief Justice John Roberts, a George W. Bush appointee, stayed an appeals court order that had ruled a congressional panel could gain access to the documents. Trump filed an emergency application on Monday to the Supreme Court, asking it to halt the order. Roberts’ stay is temporary, pending further developments in the case. Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, has for years been trying to obtain Trump’s returns, asserting that they are necessary as the panel considers possibly updating how audits of presidents are done.

Hayes played clips from the speech, including the president saying that electing certain Republicans is a “path to chaos” —

President Biden claimed Thursday that first lady Jill Biden once bitterly snapped at him over his ranking as the “poorest man in Congress” — calling it a “true story” even though it’s unclear if he ever actually earned the superlative. Biden, who moved into a 10,000-square-foot former DuPont family mansion in 1974 — one year after joining the Senate — told the tale during a New Mexico event focused on his plans to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt per borrower. During his last address before the balance of power would be decided in Washington D.C., Biden pleaded with Americans to vote against Republicans, accusing them of being election deniers and MAGA extremists who have encouraged political violence, promoted former President Donald Trump’s "Big Lie" about the 2020 election and engaged in voter intimidation. Rather than focusing the on main issues voters are most concerned about, namely, rampant inflation and other economic woes, Biden’s speech pointed the finger at his political opponents.
