If Gov. Hochul was going to give him only one debate, Rep. Lee Zeldin wasn’t going to waste a second making nice. The Republican challenger brought the fight and focus that he has displayed on the campaign trail and scored a decisive victory Tuesday night.
This wasn’t a knockout, but a victory on points because he made specific and realistic promises to improve life in New York. Hochul, meanwhile, mostly played defense.
Even when she played it well, she never really laid out a vision of what four more years would like

Whenever I see Lee Zeldin on TV, he always has this mad face on; he makes me think that he does not play.

Good but never discount the brain dead voters in NYC. They seem to like mayhem.

Years of a low-paying job on the street will do that to one. Or was she a mob hit-woman? Anyway, she slightly less repellent than Baroness Samedi in Chicago.

If she wins, I'm afraid I won't have the words to use about the complete idiocy of New Yorkers. My keyboard would be speechless. I would have to guess they love crime and outrageous prices for everything.

Sad to see NYC and New York deteriorate and those that see it that have the skill sets to operate and improve are leaving. Negative population are a telltale sign that the fascists will make it worse, with the help of very low information voters.

True #6 but I don’t think Party loyalty is going to matter in this election. The Democrat strategy of siding with criminals and illegal immigrants is not playing well.

I hope that people don’t get their hopes up too high over a “debate” win. It’s not as big a deal as everyone thinks. NY is governed by the Democrat controlled cities starting with NYC. If Zeldin wins, it will be a squeaker. NY corruption is entrenched, and it takes more than fiery words on a soundstage to change that.

Frau Hochul is the " accidental Governor" ....a career drone who was working in a bank when the Dem Politburo of NY figured it needed someone (non-threatening) from Western New York - where Evil Prince Andrew is widely despised...to shore up support...so they installed her as Lt. Gov .......NO ONE ever thought that the teflon Evil Prince Andrew would ever be pried from office....hence Frau Hochul the lightweight got the job

She's very unlikeable and doesn't come across as especially intelligent or competent, but that didn't stop Democrats from voting en masse for Hillary. Zeldin probably did need to knock her out, not just win on points, to prevent the New York Democrat herd from giving her the decision.

Saw some clips on Greg Kelly last night...and it was an eye opener for New Yorkers....Hochul reminded me of an entitled woman who doesn't have a clue how to run a government agency...but thinks she's there because the political class can manipulate her....and tell her what to do...still wondering WHY Cuomo was chased out...was he getting to popular and the powers behind the throne needed someone they could control?

Hochul wasn't elected governor, so no one has to repudiate their own choice to elect someone else. That's a big reason why a Zeldin upset is possible.
Otherwise she's probably near invincible. Ds are 2-to-1 over Rs in NY, and Party is all. Competence doesn't much matter.
The Dems are the Party of Fetterman and Biden, DeBlasio and Adams. New Yorkers can boo AOC all they want at her town hall meetings: she mocks them with absolute confidence.
Pelosi once said a glass of water labeled Democrat would win in AOC's district. She could've said the same about NY generally.
I've got my fingers crossed, but my hopes are tempered.

New York has had a string of loser governors with two having to resign in the last 20 years! That ugly worm may have turned finally and Lee has a better chance than anyone since Pataki.
What has been little noted and only briefly touched on by Lee ... because everything is all Big Apple centric ... is the screwing of upstate apple and dairy farmers by requiring them to pay 1.5x overtime to anyone who works for them over 40 hours in a week. The farmers will come out of the barns and fields in droves.
Also, fracking is permitted in all the northern Pennsylvania counties that touch Western NY state --- however it is banned right across the border back in old NY. As many as 8.000 people drive across the border to work in that industry in PA. Expect them to vote to dump Hochul (rhymes with "Loco") too.
If they can't steal it in NYC, she's toast everywhere else.

Sadly, I don't think anyone watches debates any more -- I know I don't. I've already made up my mind well before a debate takes place...I'm sure he mopped the floor with her, I just don't know if it matters.

Never underestimate the stupidity of Manhattan voters. Add the brainwashed ghetto vote and the Dems have a clear path to victory. My opinion: they made their bed, let them rot in it.
