It’s no big secret that Big Tech’s tentacles have a vast reach, with platforms like Facebook and Twitter admitting in so many words after the fact to deliberately suppressing news content prior to the 2020 presidential election that portrayed then-Democratic nominee for president Joe Biden and his international wheelin’ and dealin’ son Hunter in a less than flattering light being one of the more notable examples. But as has already been made clear by online payment systems like PayPal and Venmo, even more silencing of alternative points of view is needed in the form of financial strangulation

Politically unwise but even more importantly, how on earth is it sensible business practice to anger half your potential customer base? There is a good reason that Disney stock is half what it was just a year ago. If I owned this stock, I'd sell it for sure.

I know the founder of GAB was talking about setting up an e-payment system. I cannot find a link on their website though.

If I’ve understood this article correctly, the new policy is aimed at businesses which accept payments via PayPal and not at individuals who use it to shop or donate online. I no longer own a business and don’t have a website so, theoretically, this wouldn’t affect me. Though, I suppose they could come after me for shopping with conservative businesses or contributing to conservative charities. Better not to take a chance. Off to find an alternative…

All these websites do unilateral alteration of contracts. How i that legal?
One is constantly being forced to either knuckle under or find another provider for their service.
Please SCOTUS clarify the 230 rule and get us out from under these leftist tyrants.

Paypal provides the reason their stock has dropped from $192 to $95 per share this year. This should tank it even further.

We got hacked thru PayPal a few years ago. Thieves were helping themselves to cash advances thru our DiscoverCard and cash transfers thru our ckg acct. Those were the only 2 payment sources we had listed with PayPal when we opened it 15 yrs ago. We were reimbursed via the bank, and Discover, but were never notified of suspicious activity by the bank or Discover OR Lifelock. Took me 3+ months to check, call followup with all our other financial institutions to make sure no other credit cards, etc., were opened. We dropped LifeLock after that. Took our money and did nothing.

I already had enough reasons not to use PayPal. This is yet one more reason not to begin using it.

I called and canceled today, as soon as I read restricting free speech I'm gone. Already was looking for a reason, this just cemented it.

I found this on line:
The easiest way to reduce your risk exposure immediately is to withdraw your money from PayPal as quickly as possible. Don’t ever leave your payments sitting in a PayPal account for longer than necessary.
You can also minimize risk by refusing to use PayPal for transactions larger than $1000, not using PayPal for payroll purposes, and generally reducing the number of transactions your business processes through PayPal.

Keep just enough in it so they have nothing to confiscate.

I've been a fairly happy PayPal user since about a month after they first started doing business, and in the beginning made a lot of money that I wouldn't have without them.
The last few years I have steadily become more annoyed with them (and with eBay) to the point I barely use either of them anymore. After reading this thread and the linked article, I went to PayPal to confirm the update to the 'user agreement', and sure enough, the article is correct.
I immediately tried to close the account, but the system refused to do so.
I guess I'm going to have to contact my bank and Credit Card company that is linked to my account and tell them to never pay anything to 'PayPalpatine' in case they decide that this post is a 'fineable offense'.
Merely not keeping a PayPal balance won't prevent them from fining you if you say something they don't like.; They will take it out of your linked bank account(s) and/or credit card(s)

There's only one solution: don't use PayPal. Canceled my account years ago. Same with Venmo.

I had to call Paypal to cancel. It wouldn't complete transaction on line.

Don’t ever use PayPal. They are controlled by the feds and the left. Use your credit card and monitor it every day. PayPal is prepared to cut you off if the present administration thinks you don’t follow the party line.

I canceled my PayPal account today. I could not cancel online without giving them my cell number which wasn’t going to happen. I called
1-888-221-1161 and canceled. It took less than 5 minutes. I feel much better.
