The Texas governor's race is widening still, according to a new Spectrum News/Siena College poll released Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reports. Per the survey, incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is pulling further ahead of Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke, who has long been considered the underdog of the race. "Gov. Abbott, who won a landslide 13-point race against Democratic challenger Lupe Valdez four years ago, has a 7-point lead with over six weeks until Election Day," said Siena College Research Institute Director Don Levy, per the Chronicle. Abbott is up 50-43 over O'Rourke, the poll indicated. "Abbott has the support of 95 percent of Republicans, and O'Rourke has the support of 93 percent

What LOON actually thought it was a bright idea to run this loser again? Or did they realize that Abbott was a shoo-in? ''Here, let's throw that nutjob in there, he'll do it just in case there's a few donation bucks left laying around. He's too stupid to realize it.''

Be Low is yet another terrible candidate nominated by the Dims. Yes, he came close to upsetting Cruz but that was due to having a wealth of outside funding and mistakes by the Republican. He could probably win his old El Paso congressional seat back but I don't see him coming close to a statewide office again.

An Arizona judge ruled Friday that the state can enforce a near-total ban on abortion that had been blocked for nearly five decades. The 1901 law bans all abortions, except in cases in which the mother’s life is in jeopardy. The ruling by Pima County Superior Court judge Kellie Johnson comes in response to a request from state attorney general Mark Brnovich to lift the long-standing injunction that prevented the law from taking effect. Johnson wrote that a judgement and injunction signed in 1973 blocking the law, ARS 13-3603, “no longer has any prospective application.”

Viewers ripped CNN over its promotion of Jake Tapper to its coveted 9 p.m. slot — with some claiming a recent shift in the anchor’s left-leaning reporting to more centrist and conservative-friendly takes amounts to “pandering” and “kissing up” to his new bosses. Tapper’s star is rising as CNN’s new boss Chris Licht has been cleaning house and pushing a more middle-of-the-road approach, moving away from punditry that focused on criticizing the Trump administration and conservatives to boost ratings. “Tapper is trying to survive,” said a media source. “He’s kowtowing to his bosses.” “He’s very ambitious” and “very hard-working” with a “healthy ego,” added another source who had once worked

A protestor ran onto the court and set his arm on fire in the middle of the 2022 Laver Cup in London on Friday. The man wore a white shirt with the words "end UK private jets" written on it. He was quickly escorted off the court after the fire was put out by officials. The protest temporarily halted the singles match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Diego Schwartzman. He reportedly ran onto the court after Tsitsipas won the first set and set his arm on fire before security grabbed him. After officials determined the fire did not alter the court, the match resumed

Criminal charges will probably not be warranted in the investigation into Republican representative Matt Gaetz’s alleged sex-trafficking scandal, prosecutors have advised the Justice Department. Senior department officials have not confirmed whether the lawmaker will be charged, but the prosecutors claim that a conviction is unlikely to result from the probe, according to the Washington Post. The department typically heeds such recommendations, they said. The prosecutors said the case was undermined by a lack of credibility demonstrated by two key witnesses against Gaetz, including the 17-year-old girl whom Gaetz was alleged to have had a sexual relationship with.

About 85 percent of Republicans agree that hard work can get anyone ahead, while just 53 percent of Democrats believe that, the poll shows. The two political parties also disagree about how great America is, with more than nine in 10 Republicans agreeing that “America is the greatest country in the world,” while only 61 percent of Democrats feel that way. About 34 percent of Republicans say their generation will do better than the one before, compared to 55 percent of Democrats.

London - Britain's new finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng unleashed historic tax cuts and huge increases in borrowing on Friday in an economic agenda that floored financial markets, with sterling and British government bonds in freefall. Kwarteng scrapped the country's top rate of income tax, cancelled a planned rise in corporate taxes and for the first time put a price tag on the spending plans of Prime Minister Liz Truss, who wants to double Britain's rate of economic growth. Investors unloaded short-dated British government bonds as fast as they could, with the cost of borrowing over 5 years seeing its biggest one-day rise since 1991, as Britain raised its debt issuance

The House on Wednesday passed a bill to reform the Electoral Count Act in ways Liz Cheney and other proponents say would clarify that the vice president's role in counting electoral votes is purely ceremonial, and is meant to head off future efforts to try to overturn election results. It cleared the chamber on a mostly party-line vote, 229-203, with nine Republicans joining all Democrats to vote for it, even as Republican leaders 'whipped' against the bill. The far-left state of California further embraced neo-paganism this week when Democrat Gov. The end is near. For Putin’s military options in Ukraine, that is. Wednesday in Moscow, Putin said he will call up reservists and hold political referenda in captured Ukrainian territory. And yet again, he threatened to use nuclear weapons if Russian territory is in danger. Despite the scary language, Putin is not fooling anybody in NATO. Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg lost no time pointing out that Russia doesn’t have enough weapons to equip more troops. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby immediately said the speech showed Putin was struggling. And at the UN, President Biden denounced Putin’s war. "Some families are headed by single parents, grandparents, foster parents, two moms, two dads, etc.: consider ‘parent or caregiver’ instead of ‘mom and dad,'" the presentation states.
