Republicans and Democrats are split on whether hard work results in more financial gain and economic advancement in the U.S. economy, according to a poll from the Wall Street Journal. About 85 percent of Republicans agree that hard work can get anyone ahead, while just 53 percent of Democrats believe that, the poll shows. The two political parties also disagree about how great America is, with more than nine in 10 Republicans agreeing that “America is the greatest country in the world,” while only 61 percent of Democrats feel that way. About 34 percent of Republicans say their generation will do better than the one before, compared to 55 percent of Democrats.

The Dems have a simple solution. Pile in to the wagon and whip the pullers. Redistribution of "wealth" is very key to a successful life. Whip the pullers until they can't pull anymore and find a replacement. Heck, the 1 year old smartphone is outdated. Whip'em till it hurts. Morale will improve when the whippings stop.

For the takers, they see taking as easy, no need for hard work. Us makers find that hard work is important.

Fact: The vast majority of union workers are democrats. Fact: The same number of non-union workers compared to union workers are far more productive. Fact: In most unionized companies the bottom ten percent of workers would not be still working in a non-union environment.

My father was a Polish immigrant who had an 8th grade education. He worked three different factory jobs during the depression, simultaneously. My mother, daughter of Jewish and Gebtile Polish immigrants had a 3rd grade education, and worked as a waitress. In 1935, they purchased their first house, for cash. (and that was after FDR stole 1000 dollars of their savings with the bank holiday of 1933.) In 1941, they purchased a dairy farm, and on the side, grew potatoes, cabbage, sweet corn, which we sold door to door in Erie. My job was to go door to door, at age 9 through 11 years old. We all worked hard. They sold the farm, bought a tavern. Again, we all worked hard and advanced, economically. It is absurd to say that one cannot advance in our economy. Absurd.

#5 You must be a conservative and want to better yourself. I left home at age 13, went to live in a dormitory at The School of the Ozarks in 1958, worked campus jobs to pay for my high school education. Got an excellent education and an excellent work ethic. It continued throughout my life.

I think I have figured out why Democrats call Republicans fascist. It's because Republicans expect people to work in return for money. And Democrats promise them free money for no work.

Tallahassee, Fla. - Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for all of Florida on Saturday as Tropical Storm Ian gains strength over the Caribbean and is forecast to become a major hurricane within days as it tracks toward the state. DeSantis had initially issued the emergency order for two dozen counties on Friday. But he expanded the warning to the entire state, urging residents to prepare for a storm that could lash large swaths of Florida. “This storm has the potential to strengthen into a major hurricane and we encourage all Floridians to make their preparations,” DeSantis said in a statement. “We are coordinating with

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called for more “collective” action in her address to the U.N. General Assembly on Friday, especially on the issues of climate change, nuclear non-proliferation, pandemic response, and opposing wars of aggression such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Ardern’s authoritarian impulses were on display in her call for tighter regulations on Internet speech, although she insisted she values free speech and merely wishes to cleanse “disinformation” from international discourse. Ardern portrayed the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, which New Zealand addressed with some of the heaviest lockdowns to be found outside of communist China

In a major victory for members of the NYPD’s largest police union, a judge ruled Friday cops who were fired for not getting vaccinated against the coronavirus have to be reinstated. In the stunning decision, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lyle Frank wrote that the city’s vaccine mandate on the Police Benevolent Association was invalid “to the extent it has been used to impose a new condition of employment” on the union. The mandate was also invalid because it issued enforcement beyond “monetary sanctions” prescribed in the law, Frank wrote — ordering that all PBA members put on leave or canned be reinstated.

I don’t believe we have covered the story of Cayler Ellingson, the 18-year-old North Dakota boy who was murdered by 41-year-old Shannon Brandt. Why did the murder happen? Brandt says he ran Ellingson down with his car following a “political argument” because he thought Ellingson was part of a “Republican extremist group.” Where might he have gotten that idea? From the President of the United States. So far no details of whatever conversation Ellingson might have had with the much-older Brandt are known, but apparently it didn’t take much for Brandt to conclude that he was dealing with a “Republican extremist.” Not surprisingly, local authorities say there is no evidence

In spite of Joe Biden’s continued delusional pronouncements that “the economy is just fine, man,” most Americans are feeling the detrimental effects of his economic policies with every purchase from the gas pump to the grocery store and beyond. Each month since the 1970s, economists have used the newly released and updated Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) data to quantify the economic health of the country. To do so, they add the current U.S. unemployment rate, which is a semi-stagnant 3.7%, to August’s worse-than-expected rate of U.S. inflation, which is a harsh 8.26%. Originally coined by intellectual powerhouse and policy economist Arthur M. Okun in the 1970s as the “discomfort index,”

Is Joe Biden President? That’s the question to ask after staffers walked back Biden’s latest remarks on Taiwan. During his rather uneven “60 Minutes” interview with Scott Pelley last weekend, Biden firmly and clearly announced that the United States would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. This was a dramatic statement, and a substantial shift from America’s traditional policy of “strategic ambiguity” on Taiwan, in which our response to Chinese saber-rattling over the island nation was essentially “fool around and find out.” Biden was not at all ambiguous: If China went to war with Taiwan, it would be war with the United States and its allies. That departure made some sense.

An Arizona judge ruled Friday that the state can enforce a near-total ban on abortion that had been blocked for nearly five decades. The 1901 law bans all abortions, except in cases in which the mother’s life is in jeopardy. The ruling by Pima County Superior Court judge Kellie Johnson comes in response to a request from state attorney general Mark Brnovich to lift the long-standing injunction that prevented the law from taking effect. Johnson wrote that a judgement and injunction signed in 1973 blocking the law, ARS 13-3603, “no longer has any prospective application.”

Tapper’s star is rising as CNN’s new boss Chris Licht has been cleaning house and pushing a more middle-of-the-road approach, moving away from punditry that focused on criticizing the Trump administration and conservatives to boost ratings. “Tapper is trying to survive,” said a media source. “He’s kowtowing to his bosses.” “He’s very ambitious” and “very hard-working” with a “healthy ego,” added another source who had once worked

He was quickly escorted off the court after the fire was put out by officials. The protest temporarily halted the singles match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Diego Schwartzman. He reportedly ran onto the court after Tsitsipas won the first set and set his arm on fire before security grabbed him. After officials determined the fire did not alter the court, the match resumed

Criminal charges will probably not be warranted in the investigation into Republican representative Matt Gaetz’s alleged sex-trafficking scandal, prosecutors have advised the Justice Department. Senior department officials have not confirmed whether the lawmaker will be charged, but the prosecutors claim that a conviction is unlikely to result from the probe, according to the Washington Post. The department typically heeds such recommendations, they said. The prosecutors said the case was undermined by a lack of credibility demonstrated by two key witnesses against Gaetz, including the 17-year-old girl whom Gaetz was alleged to have had a sexual relationship with.

Jill, 71, donned a daring blue sequined dress for the occasion, which hugged her enviable figure. The Rocketman played on an elaborate stage set up specifically for him and his team.

I don’t generally talk about Jill Biden’s clothes, but she wore something during some recent photos with her husband and world leaders that had a lot of people talking. Frankly, I think it says something about her psyche and why we are in the mess we are in with her husband. This may be the worst outfit yet, although there’s a lot of competition.(Tweet) People had thoughts. Some compared it to a Hefty bag, some to something Alice Cooper might wear. My SO thinks that she must have been trying to imitate Cat Woman and the leather outfit, because that was what was considered “hot” when Jill Biden was young.
