My Lesbian Dance Theory

Original Article

Posted By: earlybird, 9/3/2022 8:05:52 PM

During the dog days of August, there was a brief flurry of partisan excitement when Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert denounced the White House’s student loan giveaway as, “Joe Biden is robbing hardworking Americans to pay for Karen’s daughter’s degree in lesbian dance theory.” In response, Bill Kristol tut-tutted that complaining about “‘Lesbian dance theory’ adds that frisson of bigotry that really excites your basic semi-fascist.” (snip) I, being me, actually have a lesbian dance theory. Namely, my theory is that lesbians, like straight men, don’t much like to dance and aren’t that good at it, while gay men and straight women tend to adore dancing.

Comments:

Warning: Forget the standard cliches about lesbians, etc. Read the article. Sailer’s examinations of society are pretty interesting, broader in scope than the headlines would lead you to believe, and humorous as well.

When I lived in San Francisco none of my lesbian friends EVER went dancing. They went to bars. No dance floor. No music playing. I was invited along and went once. Not a very welcoming crowd :-) Got elbowed and bumped a few times by some man haters looking for trouble.

My father was never at all pleased with "modern dancing". I thought the whole thing was a pain, although I do remember in grade school in Virginia learning the Virginia reel....which, while I forget the steps ENTIRELY, my basic memory of the learning process is that it was neutral to mildly entertaining. Not awful, at lease from 60 years distance, that's the memory that's left, more an impression. I am certain we learned the Virginia reel, and it wasn't bad, maybe even a bit of fun - but I'm not sure I'd recognize it if I saw it so many years later. I avoid dancing and am very bad at it, self-reinforcing.

My theory: for women, the most self-indulgent thing they enjoy is their vacuous chattering. Women's dancing is historically a tool to draw the attention of males (who tend to be highly visual). The Lesbian community, being a member of the most anti-productive, consumptive, non-reproductive tribe in America, would rather talk than dance.

It’s not yet known if the cause of the new clot phenomenon is COVID-19, vaccines, both, or something different.
