KYIV, Ukraine— U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken paid an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Thursday as the Biden administration announced major new military aid worth more than $2.8 billion for Ukraine and other European countries threatened by Russia.
In meetings with senior Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Blinken said the Biden administration had notified Congress of its intent to provide $2.2 billion in long-term military financing to Ukraine and 18 of its neighbors, including NATO members and regional security partners, that are “potentially at risk of future Russian aggression.”
“President (Joe) Biden has been clear we will support the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes,”

There's a growing view inside the mainstream media that Joe Biden's recent legislative victories and his recent speeches that MAGA Republicans are a threat to democracy and are "semi-fascists" are going to give the Democrats some midterm momentum and they're going to overtake the GOP by snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. I'm not buying it and here's why you shouldn't either.
First of all, the new legislation is not popular. By 36% to 12%, an Economist-YouGov poll shows that voters believe the IRA legislation will actually increase inflation.

PORTLAND, Maine— Some retailers are taking lobster off the menu after an assessment from an influential conservation group that the seafood poses too much of a risk to rare whales and should be avoided.
Whales can suffer injuries and fatalities when they become entangled in the gear that connects to lobster traps on the ocean floor. Seafood Watch, which rates the sustainability of different seafoods, said this week it has added the American and Canadian lobster fisheries to its “red list” of species to avoid.
The organization, based at Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, said in a report that the fishing industry is a danger to North Atlantic right whales

The release of My Son Hunter kicked off with a bang on Wednesday as 10/10 ratings rolled in on the film’s IMDB page.
Hundreds of IMDB users, in the hours after its worldwide release, rated the film 10/10. (Snip) The ratings come after the My Son Hunter site temporarily experienced a pause due to a surge in traffic.

Remember Fat Leonard? Who can forget that handle?
OK, maybe some folks. After all, he was last in the limelight in early 2015, and the media never paid sufficient attention to his sensational case. This scandal should have gotten its own movie, or at least a Netflix series. It has everything: selling secrets, exotic ports of call, corrupt officials, and lots of partying and sex amid unsubtle hints of espionage. Yet Hollywood lives in an alternate reality where admirals are incorruptible patriots and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service is a competent organization.

What can be said that hasn’t already been said about the erstwhile bartender from the Bronx, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who desperately craves attention like Michael Moore frantically searching for his car keys so he can race to McDonald’s for a bag of Quarter Pounders with Cheese?
What could be more galling than a 32-year-old congresswoman who sprints to every TV camera she can find and has become the darling of the left-wing media who take her every word as “progressive” wisdom, yet she hasn’t sponsored or co-sponsored a single piece of legislation of note? Moreover, she spends almost zero time in her congressional district, and yet is touted by some

Queen Elizabeth’s medical team has expressed concerns about her health status as she recently clocked 96 and celebrated her platinum jubilee earlier this year. Buckingham Palace also announced that her doctors recommended that she be placed under strict medical supervision.
A spokesman from Buckingham Palace said, “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
Following this announcement, the new prime minister of the United Kingdom expressed her concerns via Twitter.

Hillary Clinton has said she’ll never run for president again — but it seems she just can’t quit the daytime TV circuit.
The 2016 presidential candidate appeared alongside daughter Chelsea for an interview on “The View” Wednesday to promote their new AppleTV+ show “Gutsy” — and audiences were less than impressed.
During the on-air love-in, Clinton, 74, was asked about the recent raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, with the former first lady saying it was “terrifying” to learn that the ex-president was in possession of documents about a foreign nation’s nuclear capabilities.

Democrat John Fetterman is committing to at least one debate with his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, in Pennsylvania’s race for U.S. Senate.
In a Wednesday afternoon article authored by Politico’s Holly Otterbein, Fetterman said voters will see him on the debate stage with Oz “sometime in the middle to end of October.” A “major television station” in the Keystone State will host the debate, Fetterman said.
“Early voting typically begins 4-6 weeks before the election and ends at the mail-in ballot request deadline,” the University of Pennsylvania notes, meaning voting will be well underway by the time the candidates take the debate stage.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R) announced in a press release and on Twitter Tuesday that more bombshell documentation about alleged collusion between the Biden administration and Big Tech will be emerging.
The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana granted a request to force the federal government to produce records from various White House and Health and Human Services (HHS) officials, according to a press release by Schmitt’s office. The granted request comes amid a First Amendment lawsuit first filed in May by Missouri and Louisiana against the Biden administration.
