Joe Biden was warned by the Treasury Secretary and his wife not to cancel student debt, but pressed ahead regardless on the urging of Kamala Harris, it has been claimed.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen argued that with inflation around a 40-year high, the cancellation of student loans could free up consumer spending and drive inflation higher, the New York Times reported.
Jill Biden, who works part-time as a college lecturer, also urged her husband to reconsider. She campaigned on free community college, but did not push for the cancellation of debt.

From the article: "Jill Biden, who works part-time as a college lecturer, also urged her husband to reconsider. She campaigned on free community college, but did not push for the cancellation of debt."
Excuse me, why should there be free community college? Does she get she is revealing how unequipped students are coming out of the public school system. We have public schools through high school and they should be preparing students who want to work after high school. Democrats and liberals are really, really narrow-minded in their thinking.

This is going to be a world class debacle. It was not planned or seriously thought thru. It was a random hail mary pass to buy some votes in the midterms. The PO’d voters are going to far outweigh the recipients. As far as this being Kamala Harris’s idea - why do they continue to insult us with made up stories and blatant lies? I hope she understands that the idea is that she will be blamed.

Pelosi also, on video declared several times "He could not/can not" just do it by executive action...only legally able to delay or waive payments temporarily...canceling them would require an act of congress, because it is a Legislated Program, by the congress.

This is amusing. The White House knows Kamala does not poll well, so they throw her under the bus. I would like yo be a fly on the wall over at the VP digs at Naval Observatory.
And you know Jill supported this, but they re-direct all the negativity over to Kamala. End result is that POTUS looks like a manipulated henpecked wimp, VP looks like a bossy elder abusing usurper, FLOTUS looks like a shrew for shifting all the blame to Kamala, and Janet Yellen looks like a powerless little yard gnome.

A $20 billion border wall was fiscally impossible, and the Republicans fought Trump so hard that he funded $10 billion of the $15 billion finally spent by raiding the Pentagon budget. Meanwhile, the same Republicans feign powerlessness while Dung sends multiples of these amounts to the Ukraine, to reckless student debtors, to Green boondoggles, and more. Anyone notice a pattern here?

It is going to drive credit card rates into the territory of usury as a mortal sin. Those costs to the ordinary household may far outstrip the mere cost of the tuition. The better off can adjust, the least well off cannot. Kamala is hopelessly stupid.

This is what you get when you have a head of cabbage running the country. He issues a executive order to do something that is probably not even legal and will cost a TRILLION dollars and he never bothered to cost check it? Not even with the Easter Bunny? This is classic progressive thinking, "It doesn't matter what it costs. We will just print more money. Just ask Robert Reich".

It’s good to be king! How else can you describe what is happening in this country? Biden is throwing money we do not have at problems for the sole intent of buying votes. He wants to stay on the throne. It certainly feels like we are a monarchy now. In fact, I don’t believe Queen Elizabeth II has the power old King Joe does.

Don't make any loans to students until they have enough credits to qualify as juniors. That would shake up the universities completely and weed out non-serious students. Sow all the wild oats you like, just do it on your own dime.

A trillion dollars? What happens when those who are currently in high school demand that it’s only fair that their debt be “forgiven” a few years down the road. Has there ever been a “temporary” government entitlement program which ever actually ended? No, and neither will this one if it’s allowed to go forward. If this county still exists, your grandchildren will be able to grab their loan forgiveness someday.

This is ALL about bringing higher education under the financial control of the Federal Department of Education, wherein they'll control pre-K through Grad School 'indoctrination'... all for FREE!
To further push this they will no doubt use the old tactic of claiming it will be "just like in Europe," except that they never explain how "free" education works in Europe and how it results in a "one-time chance" for access to that "free thing." If you don't score high enough in their 11th grade national exam, you are relegated to a vocation, like electrician or plumber with no chance of ever being able to climb out of that vocation through higher education. It's a one chance test. Now what are the chances that our race-hustlers would call any such test as "racist" and make them stop?
The "Education-Publishing-Government Industrial Complex" is begging for Federal control of all universities and colleges, paid for by taxpayers... as they will say, "It's for the good of our children."

$10k, 20k is nothing with most student debt in six figures. Since both my brother and I got through higher ed with 0 debt and don't have loans out for kids, I thought that now the Feds not the banks issued student loans, a change made under Obama. Why not cancel all the debt if the Feds issue or guarantee it? Please clarify...
