The last of three men convicted of hijacking a school bus full of California children for an attempted $5 million ransom in 1976 — in what a prosecutor called “the largest mass kidnapping in U.S. history” — is being released by the state’s parole board. Gov. Gavin Newsom asked the board to reconsider its decision to parole Frederick Woods, 70, on Tuesday. Two board members recommended his release in March when previous panels had denied him parole 17 times.

This man should have never been released!

Kidnap people's kids and 45 years is still not enough time to assure Mr. Woods that he won't get an icepick stuck in one of his ear holes and shoved into his brain.

Shocked that Newsom wanted to keep him locked up, that NEVER happens... Oh, he's a straight white guy. Wrong reason, but the one time I agree with Newsom we don't get our way. That's life.

Well, he was "just 24" when he committed the crime, don't ya' know. Interesting that Newsom was against the release, but his father had been instrumental in reducing the sentence down from original life some years earlier....

At only 24 he was devious enough to come up with a plan to bury an entire school bus with children inside. Only God knows what would have happened had one of the older boys not been able to escape. He’s had 46 years to perfect his plan.

The only reason that Newsom dicented is because he is running for national office. He wants to be able to point to this and say that he is tough on crime. Not going to work nephew of Nancy. People know that you are a big part of the crime problem in Kalifornia.

The constant push to virtue signal to the idol of social justice is causing some of our historically trusted institutions of academia, health care, and journalism to lose the public’s trust and is further splintering our nation. Minnesota seems to be in the epicenter of it all. The Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota recently endowed a new scholarship to honor George Perry Floyd Jr. It’s the wrong decision and undermines the work of the civil rights movement and what we communicate to black American children across the country.

Diener, a California water expert and farmer, has been warning steadily that water is unnecessarily being let out to sea as the state faces a normal dry year. “Are we having a dry year? Yes,” Diener says. “That is normal for us. Should we be having water shortages in the start of our second dry year? No. Our reservoirs were designed to provide a steady five year supply for all users, and were filled to the top in June 2019.”

It is no secret that Harris wants to be Joe Biden's vice president. The junior senator from California clearly sees an opening to her real objective: the presidency of the United States. With Biden surprisingly outlasting the other anti-American socialist candidates, Harris recognizes that Biden's age and declining cognitive abilities pose a glorious opportunity to resurrect her presidential ambitions.

With several septuagenarians competing for the presidency, the ghost of the 1990s looms over the 2020 race. Joe Biden has faced criticism for his sponsorship of the 1994 crime bill. President Donald Trump tweeted, "Anyone associated with the 1994 Crime Bill will not have a chance of being elected." Here's some context. Violent crime rates in the United States began a steep climb in the mid-1960s and reached their peak in the early 1990s. Americans were extremely worried. Donald Trump, for example, recommended bringing back New York's death penalty in response to a much-publicized Central Park attack.

Sheesh. This is a tough one, but someone has to write about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently letting the cat out of the bag regarding why she switched to almost exclusively wearing her signature pantsuits throughout her political career. A long-held secret. In a recent interview with CBS News’s Norah O’Donnell, Clinton and her daughter Chelsea sat down at a diner and discussed their new eight-part Apple TV+ docuseries Gutsy, which is based on The New York Times bestselling book The Book of Gutsy Women. After discussing various topics in the upcoming series, O’Donnell changed direction, saying to Hillary, “You also reveal why you wear a pantsuit?”

In President Joe Biden’s 2007 memoir, Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics, he wrote that the late Sen. Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.) gave him the best advice he ever received: “Joe, never attack another man’s motive, because you don’t know his motive.” Judging from Biden’s increasingly belligerent speeches, he has forgotten Mansfield’s eminently wise counsel. This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Standing before a backdrop that looked as if it had been designed by Leni Riefenstahl, he attacked the motives of half the electorate.

As shocking as it is unsurprising, an Australian bank chain is providing a terrifying glimpse into the dystopian future that awaits everyone who still believes man-made climate change is worse than chains. In an August press release, Bank Australia made the stunning announcement that it would cease lending to prospective new car owners in 2025 if the vehicle of their choosing relied on tried-and-true combustion. Instead, new car owners would only be able to procure a new car loan if there are expensive lithium batteries propelling the wheels.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered over a dozen buses of migrants to the Big Apple, Chicago, and Washington DC in an attempt to show them the nature of the crisis at the border. So far, Texas has forked out nearly $13million to Wynne Transportation—the charter service that is taking migrants to the various cities. Around 44 migrants got off Sunday's bus, which was ordered to New York by El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser.

President Joe Biden rolled out a new nickname for MAGA Republicans on Labor Day during a lively speech where he also walked back comments suggesting Donald Trump's supporters believe in 'semi-fascism.' During his speech in Wisconsin on Monday, the president denounced the former president's followers as 'Trumpies' and claimed politicians on the 'extreme right' of the GOP are 'coming for your social security' and destroying worker pensions. At one point Biden was interrupted by a heckler—though he told Secret Service to 'let him go.' 'Everybody's entitled to be an idiot,' the president said to scattered laughter. And despite clarifying early on that 'not every Republican is a MAGA Republican,

We've been hearing an awful lot, even from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) himself, that Republicans taking back control of the Senate isn't as likely to happen, due to "candidate quality." It's worth noting that forecasters still have it as a "Toss-Up," or for Democrats only slightly favored to keep control of the chamber, as many races are tight in key seats. One of them, surprisingly enough, is in Washington state, where Sen. Patty Murray, the Democratic incumbent, is just a few percentage points ahead of her Republican challenger, Tiffany Smiley. This is according to a recent poll from the Trafalgar Group.
