WASHINGTON -- Former Indiana Republican Rep. Buyer, who left Congress in 2011, is accused of trading on nonpublic information he received as a consultant after he left office.

Well, let's see. This GOP Congresscritter last served in 2011. My guess is that his "insider trading" didn't come from his government service 11 years ago. Oh yeah, there it is. "using accounts owned by his wife and longtime mistress to hide some of the transactions, ... Buyer ... is accused of trading on nonpublic information he received as a consultant after he left office. That means it's going to be at least 2033 or so before they get around to the Pelosi family. And that might be an early guess. I'm going for 2525 in the pool.

Elected in '93, (he rode Clintons coattails into office)....after leaving Congress in 2011(just after a repub wave responding to Obama's failures), Buyer formed a consulting firm, the Steve Buyer Group, which provided services to T-Mobile. In March 2018, Buyer attended a golf outing with a T-Mobile executive, from whom he learned about the company’s then nonpublic plan to acquire Sprint. Buyer began purchasing Sprint securities the next day, and, ahead of the merger announcement, he acquired a total of $568,000 of Sprint common stock

His alleged insider transactions had NOTHING to do with his time in Congress, nor were they in any way the result of the information he may have received during his tenure. But since he was a Republican, that gets top billing. But nothing happens to Pelosi, whose obvious insider transactions through her husband are completely ignored. If anyone is still under the illusion that there is equal justice under law in this country, they must be living under a rock. If you are a white, Christian man you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of "the law," but if you have the correct ethnicity, sexuality or political affiliation, you can literally get away with murder. Not to mention sex crimes, arson, assault, riot and child abuse.

The April unemployment numbers showed that women got hit very hard. Almost all of the job gains went to men. The female workforce remains where it was in the late 1980s.
As if on cue, a lousy old myth about women, motherhood and work is making a return, too: that many of these women are better off for cutting their (paid) work hours and downscaling their professional aspirations in favor of tending to family responsibilities.

A curriculum inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement is spreading, raising questions about the line between education and indoctrination. Last month, a public-school district that serves mostly elementary and middle-school students in Evanston, Illinois, held its third annual Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action—using a curriculum, created in collaboration with Black Lives Matter activists and the local teachers’ union, that introduces children as young as 4 and 5 to some of America’s most complex and controversial subjects.

The Trump administration’s anti-immigration, anti-civil rights stance has made it easy to classify the president’s loyalists as a homogenous mob of white nationalists. But take a look at the FBI’s posters showing people wanted in the insurrectionist assault on the U.S. Capitol: Among the many White faces are a few that are clearly Latino or African American. Such diversity highlights the fact that President Trump’s share of the Latino vote in November actually rose over 2016, notwithstanding years of incendiary rhetoric targeting Mexicans and other Latino communities.  CORRECTION*

Activism in the cause of something you deeply believe in, when carried out by a private citizen, is a noble thing and a precious right of our Republic. But when institutions, put in place to serve the public in a fair and impartial fashion step over the bias line, it harms the very foundation of liberty and justice on which all of our nation was founded. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Wisconsin's statewide election drew to a close Tuesday evening after an 11th-hour scramble, long, socially-distanced lines at the polls, jury-rigged safety Plexiglass barriers, masks, cleaning supplies and a taunt directed at Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers by President Trump. Evers had sought to delay voting until June but the election went forward after a last-minute intervention by the state Supreme Court on behalf of the Republican leaders in the state legislature, who insisted a vote could be safely carried out and that Evers lacked the power to change the date.

President Joe Biden said Monday that Republicans who voted against banning assault rifles are not on the side of police in America. Speaking virtually to attendees at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives conference in Orlando, Florida, Biden said that Republicans who refused to ban so-called “weapons of war” are not telling the truth when they claim to support law enforcement. In particular, Biden called out Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott (R-FL) for refusing to support Democrats’ gun control efforts. “Being a cop today is a hell of a lot harder than it’s ever been,” Biden said during his speech.

Don’t go, Boss! That’s my strong advice to President Trump as he prepares to deliver a speech in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday at his alleged “think tank,” the America First Policy Institute (AFPI). Yes, it is important for President Trump to have a well-credentialed stable of policy experts capable of both building a 2024 platform and finding solid MAGA talent to populate a new Trump Administration. But the AFPI Trojan Horse—whose leadership is now bragging about how it will staff Trump’s “shadow cabinet”—is decidedly not that.
