Is the British system better?

Britain was blessed, cursed and obsessed with a controversial politician named Boris Johnson who had a good brain and mostly good policies but a bad personality. For the latter, he’s been canned. His own crew have jumped ship, effectively dragging their captain overboard with them. Don’t feel sorry for Johnson. He’s a bit of an jerk, he got caught up in some ridiculous little scandals, he got very little backing from his friends whom he backed very little in their own times of need, he had a habit of saying attention-grabbing but inappropriate things, he’s a second-rate womanizer, and he has funny hair. Sound familiar?

Great post by Glenn. Yes critizes PT, a little. My fantasy is the GOP takes the House, elects PT as Speaker of the House and Quid Pro Joe and Heels Up disappear. Hopeing that Bidet and Cacles are beamed up by the Mother Ship. Then we could get 6 more years of Trump.

The one glaring error by Beaton has to do with the Founding Fathers and how they established the selection process for the office of President. There was no popular election of the President, (or members of the Senate.) The Electoral College was controlled by state legislatures. The voters were not directly involved in the process.

"I have a lot of respect for America’s founders, but in the matter of presidential succession they screwed up." Having 4-year minimum intervals between political fervors that elect a president is one of the things that has kept our form of government stable. Allowing the plebiscite to easily interrupt that interval on a whim would result in the Left-run-media even more expertly manipulating the process than they already are. The problem Glenn thinks he sees is not the result of the Founders' method of presidential succession, but of unchecked corruption at the highest state and federal levels that allowed a Joe Biden to occupy the White House in the first place.

And the Brits are complaining that they don't get to elect their PM, their MPs do. So no one is happy with their governments; neither us nor them.

There should be a provision in the Constitution that requires a new election for president be held if the current administration is deemed incompetent or doing more harm to the country than the previous administration and this should be decided by voting of the people.

The founding Fathers could not have foreseen a number of things: ex;Illegal immigration allowing millions of foreigners to be in the U.S.; individuals in elected office that refuse to follow their mandates/oaths of office ; Govt security agencies that also did the same or were completely corrupted ( FBI, DOJ, etc ); Presidents exerting massive unilateral power ( executive actions ), and so forth

I have to shake my head at anyone stupid enough to assume they are smarter than the majority of Founding Fathers. I guess it is the prime 'benefit' of the age of ego. We are in this mess because our elected officials in DC voted themselves untouchable, unaccountable, and exempt from the horrible laws they pass. That and a voter base that is far, far, from the moral center our founders stated that was necessary to keep the Republic.

“F*** Clarence Thomas” is a lousy

After the Supreme Court’s decision saying that abortion is a matter for state legislatures to sort out, and not something addressed by the Constitution, the hard-left mayor of Chicago in a public speech spat “f*** Clarence Thomas!” (Days later, this same Democrat mayor bemoaned the toxicity of current political discussions.) Note that this is not some bomb-throwing, Antifa/Democrat hoodlum, but is the mayor of one of the biggest cities in America. (OK, I’ll admit that she could be both.) The mayor didn’t bother to tell us what part of the Constitution guarantees abortion on demand. But, no matter.

The Aspen Times months ago published a thinly supported story suggesting that one of the local billionaires was in league with Vladimir Putin. The billionaire filed suit against the newspaper for defamation. The newspaper wanted to settle the case. Meanwhile, the newspaper was recently bought by a family-owned group of several dozen small newspapers. Much of the family are Republicans, which may be the determinative fact in this story. The new owners asked that the newspaper staff refrain from commenting on the pending litigation while settlement talks were ongoing. That’s standard and prudent in legal proceedings.

For years, a public high school football coach made a practice of saying short prayers after football games. He prayed whether he won or lost. Some of his players typically joined in, and some didn’t. For that, he was fired. This has been a long drive for the left. It started on their own 2-yard line about two centuries ago with Karl Marx scorning the masses he pretended to champion by mocking their “opiate” of religion. Marx and his fellow travelers preferred the opiate of opiate.

Readers will remember the Aspen Times. They’re the little but old – venerable, we’re told – newspaper of Aspen. These days it’s a hard left rag in a hard left town of limousine liberals and the locals who both castigate and soak them to the shameless delight of all concerned. One of the frequent perks for Aspen Times employees, as for many other members of the ruling Aspen establishment, is taxpayer-subsidized housing for dimes on the dollars – often slopeside. I was the token conservative columnist with the Aspen Times for seven years. But I grew a little big for my britches.

It’s a biological fact that, generally speaking, males in relation to females are naturally larger, more physical, more ambitious, stronger, faster, cruder, stinkier, more competitive and hornier. Those traits are wired into them as tightly as the DNA in their Y chromosome, and are all awash in the testosterone hormone produced in their testicles. At times, those traits can be problematic. At other times, they can save the day, save the world, or save a child. But men are out of fashion these days. Boys, too. Mind you,

I figured that Tom Cruise playing “Maverick” in the sequel to Top Gun would be all woke. He’d also be at least bi or gay, and probably trans. Look what Hollywood did to Star Wars. After all, something like 20% of attention starved, navel-gazing, influence-susceptible college students with too much time on their hands – I’m talking about the movie-going crowd – now “identify” (whatever that means) as something other than what used to be called “normal.” And is still called “normal” by statisticians, given that only 2% of the population at large fall outside that category.

Imagine two creatures a few hundred thousand years ago. One is a human that is casually observing the other, a 750-pound Eurasian cave lion. The beast (the lion, that is) lunges at the human (who is not a beast at all – the cranium of humans at that time was about the same as ours, and the cranium of Neanderthals was bigger). The lion shreds our would-be ancestor like so much pulled pork. What happened? Why did this human with as much grey matter as you or I, or more, fail to see this coming? Those stories are scurrilous and vulgar lies which distracted the nation and the Trump administration for years and for which someone should be held accountable. But Sussmann was not the person who manufactured those lies. He was just the bag guy who passed them on to the FBI. And so those lies are not what Sussmann has been charged with. He’s been charged with a more pedestrian lie – the lie of telling the FBI he was not working for a client when in fact he was.

Some 63 million American babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade. Almost 40% were black even though blacks comprise only about 13% of the population. The black abortion rate is nearly five times the white rate. Justice Clarence Thomas observed in a Supreme Court case a few years ago that in New York City a black baby is more likely to be aborted than to be born. Altogether, that amounts to over 20 million dead black babies since Roe v. Wade. To put that number in perspective, the number of unarmed blacks killed by police in that period is a few dozen – amounting to something like

Not that I have anything against such a person. Some of my best friends are autistic, and most of my readers are. They’re probably also transsexuals or have at least thought about it (it is sort of weirdly interesting from an anthropological perspective, sort of like Neanderthals and dinosaurs). And cocaine can’t be any worse than, say, instant coffee, Australian wine or transsexualism. As for being black, anyone with half a brain identifies as such.
