Elon Musk has warned Twitter staff they face 'extreme' workloads when he takes over - but insists he'll still graft even harder than them to make the firm a success. The tycoon replied to an earlier tweet he shared about his plans for the social media network Saturday, and wrote: 'Also, work ethic expectations would be extreme, but much less than I demand of myself.'His original tweet had outlined Musk's tech-focused approach to running the firm, and said: 'If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware.'

Anytime I got new management and would hear a similar phrase, I would just smile. Most of the time itwas management holding me back!

Snowflakes, believe him when he says that. A couple of years ago, two fellow employees - solid, young, ambitious engineers - left the major defense contractor we worked for to go to SpaceX. Within months, both were back. Couldn't handle the pace or workload.

If Elon says EXTREME workloads, better believe him. For a few months one of my sons worked on the assembly line at Tesla. 12 hour shifts, 4, then 5 times a week. The pay and benefits were great for what you did but there was no time for a life at all. My son quit when they starting asking for a sixth shift every other week (he was working a split two days day shift, two days night shift with the fifth day rotating. Physically he couldn’t do it.)
Does Elon work hard? At his Tesla plants my son said he had cameras everywhere and he personally monitored them. Day or night you never knew when he would be watching and then say something. He would come and personally inspect the assembly line as well. Tough guy to work for. Very high standards. He is very hands on and doesn’t mince words.
These Silicon Valley snowflakes won’t know what hit them.

Elon reminds me of my wonderful Dad… an MIT engineer grad, a masters and a great job, he wanted to teach brother and me responsibility, so he and mom bought a 100+ acre dairy farm.
We milked 80+ head at 4am, then he’d leave for ‘work’ @6:30am, driving 40 miles, one way; brother and I would start the 4pm milking. Believe or not, we loved ‘our girls’!
One was the first All-American Guernsey Sr Yearling in our state! We had put in a milking ‘parlor’ by our big red, bank barn, and every milking she would come up the ‘down’ ramp, turn around to get fed and milked first in the first stall! She knew she was a Champ!
Maybe this is what taught me to love Robert E. Lee and his beloved horse, Traveller, so much… both buried next to each other at the chapel at W&L.
Sweet times.
And doesn’t Elon remind us of the grits and courage of DJT.

If twitter has 7500 employees there will be a lot more than 1,000 leaving. The nannies, the nannie's nannies, and the nannie's nannie's nannies must be closer to 3,000. If they have more than 10 programmers working on the app, the rest of those can leave also. There are probably a lot of network engineers to keep their servers running, so that could be about 200 people. Add three hundred more for advertising sales and accounting. a dozen lawyers. An autoresponder to send "Get lost!" messages to the EU and other censorship lovers. and a couple dozen security guards.
The other thing he can do with twitter once he has proven himself trustworthy is spin off a facebook clone.
Bye, bye Zuck.

What a smart way to whittle down the excessive staff, scare them with the word, "work." It saves a lot of firing activity.
