May 6 (Reuters) - California energy officials on Friday issued a sober forecast for the state's electrical grid, saying it lacks sufficient capacity to keep the lights on this summer and beyond if heatwaves, wildfires or other extreme events take their toll.
The update from leaders from three state agencies and the office of Governor Gavin Newsom comes in response to a string of challenges with the ambitious transition away from fossil fuels, including rolling blackouts during a summer heat wave in 2020. California has among the most aggressive climate change policies in the world, including a goal of producing all

So the WSJ and now Reuters say our power grid is unreliable. But we’re all gonna ditch our “petromobiles” and plug in our electric buggies scooting about town with no impact to the grid. Then we congratulate ourselves for being good stewards of the environment. We say trust ”the science,” but ignore Newton’s conservation of energy law. Where does your energy come from? Are we just worshipping the false gods Helios and the Anemoi, who are given to frequent temper tantrums?

What, your magic unicorn power plus the windmills and solar panels doesn't cut it?
You mean, LIKE WE TOLD YOU it wouldn't work?
No sympathy for the leaders, and those who elected them. The folks who voted against this, they get my sympathy. Better have a Generac.

Gosh too bad they didn't think about this when they shut down every nuclear electrical generating plant in the state and started pushing solar panels and windmills. We are in for an electrical grid shut down. I just bought and dual fuel electric generator at Home Depot. Just over $800, delivered for free to my home. A buddy came over and helped put it together. Took 30 minutes from opening the box to start up. It can run on gasoline or propane. I got a Rino propane tank and after putting the wheels and stuff on it, filling the engine with oil that came with it, we fired it up and ran it for about 10 minutes to do a quick engine break-in. So I am all prepared. I am picking up a couple of new extension cords to go with the ones I have, so this summer when the power goes out, I can run my refrigerator and some other appliances no problem. Oh Newsome will be running for president. So remember this.

Remember when discussing the stupidity of CAs energy policies that a part of that policy is that CA forbids any truck that was made before 2010 to operate in CA. Many of those trucks were being used to unload container ships and distribute those containers across the USA. So CA is largely responsible for the shortage of goods on merchant shelves all across the USA.

California can go dwn the drain. Over the years, they've refused to udate their power grid and their water infrastructure in the name of going green.
Instead they've bought power from out of state sources who don't follow the "Green Dogma".
They've stolen water resources from farmers who actually do something useful with it.
Their elites don't seem to be suffering. Mansions, swimming pools, airconditioning, jets, yahts...
Let them go down the drain. Once their gone, maybe something worthwhile will grow in their place.

Good idea with the multi-fuel purchase. Not sure but I believe you can run that on natural gas, as well. I'm getting ready to convert mine ,too. Not sure if NG is any less expensive to run but I won't miss having to store gasoline.

Some years ago our rural electric co op offered Generac 20KW home generators that automatically kick in when the power feed goes down, as it does pretty regularly in the country with storms and snow, and it runs on propane. Best investment I have made in a long time...gave up on the tiny 'roll it out of the garage' gennie and running cords into the house through open windows. But, propane, last fill, was $3.41 a gallon....:0(

Well, California needs to close down more power stations, and dynamite the hydroelectric dams so the salmon can live free.
That will solve the crisis. Oh, and force all citizens to buy EVs...

They will eventually end up burning dark black bituminous coal to keep the lights on. It's cheap and it's plentiful, which in the long run wins out.

I am going to watch the state fall apart over the coming years from the other side of the country. And get a good laugh out of it. Yes our elections are corrupt but the Marxist trash would easily win clean elections here anyway. The majority here deserves to get what they voted for. Everyone else should leave.
Last conservative, turn out the lights as you go. They'll probably be off anyway.

And they are outlawing natural gas appliances, and new home construction with natural gas. California grows a significant, like 80%, of the US fresh food supply. They are suffering from a drought! Their mismanagement of their water supply, by tearing down dams, will result in food shortages around the globe. The Feds need to step in.

CA doesn't have enough water after more than half a century of prohibiting the development of water reservoirs.
Now CA doesn't have enough electricity after several decades to prohibiting power plants.
25 years ago an Arizona power company was going to build a plant right on the CA border for the purpose of shipping all that power into CA and avoiding the extreme CA regulations. I remember Arizona lawmakers at the time proposed a law to prevent plants from being built that didn't primarily serve Arizona. I never heard what came of all that. The proposals at the time were going to result in a string of power plants on the Arizona/CA border built only to serve CA.
