Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor suggested in December 2021 that the court would not “survive the stench” if it upheld a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks.Sotomayor weighed in on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court case involving a 2018 Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks, addressing whether bans on abortion before fetal viability are constitutional.“Will this institution survive the stench that this creates in the public perception that the Constitution and its reading are just political acts?”

The real question is, will we survive the stench of placing justices on the Supreme Court who are dimwitted activists because they retain agendas that include feminism, homosexuality, racism, Constitutional doubts, immorality or greed?

Sotomayor is cementing her reputation a a biased liberal justice who can't make decisions based on the Constitution or laws. In this case, she has firmly established herself as making decisions based on politics. It is Sotomayor who is making the Supreme Court look political. If it was Sotomayor or one of her clerks/staff who released the draft opinion (probably with her blessings), it is she who will have destroyed the courts reputation by taking extreme political actions regarding a decision that she disagrees with.

Not a “smart Latina” but certainly a very activist one for an associate justice who is not supposed to have an agenda. Cases are to be based on facts and evidence presented. I don’t see her doing that at all.

And maybe Sotamayor will not survive the reveal of who leaked the opinion. Once we have a majority, if she and one of her clerks are guilty, it would be grounds for impeachment.

Correct, #21. This comment is why the speculation is that the leak came from either her or one of her clerks. Once the leaker has been identified, punishment should be swift and harsh.

15 weeks is a very good compromise, actually. Babies are now being born at 20 weeks or maybe even earlier and some are surviving.
I bet that all those people answering polls saying they support Roe don't even realize that means abortions up to birth. And yes, they definitely need to have exceptions for abortions of dead fetuses- some of these poorly written pro-life bills actually outlaw this very needed procedure.
