Queen Elizabeth II has got her own Barbie in honor of her 96th birthday and upcoming Platinum Jubilee. California-based toymaker Mattel released the doll on the monarch's birthday Thursday in commemoration of her 70 years of service, which will be celebrated beginning on June 2. The doll is dressed in ivory complete with a blue sash and a tiara modelled on the one the Queen wore on her wedding day. Queen Elizabeth II is marking her birthday privately, retreating to the Sandringham estate in eastern England that has offered the monarch and her late husband, Prince Philip, a refuge from the affairs of state.

Anything for a dollar, though the comments are probably so negative they shut down reader comments ("Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.") This being Mattel, is there a button you can press to make Her Majesty twerk?

She served well in the position that was thrust upon her at a difficult time in World history and many times since.. She is to be admired for the job she has always done with dignity and respect. ...Who would have ever thought of a Barbie tribute but why not?

Target had the doll for $75.00 but is sold out. At Amazon it's selling for just under $140. Think I'll pass, will wait for the Beanie Baby or bobble head one. LOL

Well, that's surprisingly nice, IMO. With the nutball companies never missing a chance to spit on white, normal people - it's nearly shocking to have a normal doll like this come out, frankly. Sad that Elizabeth II seems to be the last competent, capable monarch for England, but I can't see that any of her heirs have half a brain between them all or the sense that God gave a bright border collie.

I think it’s a rather nice tribute. She probably had a good laugh at it! Mattel sees correctly the increased interest in dear Queen Elizabeth is because she will soon leave the scene. They made the most of it. Her exit will close a long chapter and the nation she represented is a shadow of its former self. There is a sadness deeper than just the passing of a beloved monarch.

I have a soft spot for Queen Elizabeth and think Mattel (for once) did something nice here. However, the doll is lacking much of what makes the Queen both admired and liked. They captured her stoicism but what's missing is the twinkle in her eye and the softness in her features that has been there as long as she's been in the public eye.

So is the body painted so the undergarments are not removeable? The thought of an undressed Queen E is not respectable.

Will we ever have a time in politics where we won’t have Nancy Pelosi to kick around anymore, to paraphrase Richard Nixon? According to a new book from New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns, that time may come sooner than you think, but not necessarily for the reasons you’d assume. Punchbowl offers a big preview of This Will Not Pass, due out on May 3, and of Pelosi’s disgust with her caucus and the White House.

ATLANTA (AP) — When Democrat Stacey Abrams first ran for Georgia governor in 2018, her lackluster personal finances and a hefty bill from the IRS gave Republicans fodder to question how she could manage a state budget when she struggled with her own debts. As she launches a second bid this year, that’s no longer an issue. Abrams now says she’s worth $3.17 million, according to state disclosures filed in March. That’s compared with a net worth of $109,000 when she first ran four years ago.
