The Academy has apparently made an oh-so-pretty baffling decision: not inviting the star of West Side Story to the Oscars. Rachel Zegler, who plays Maria in the Oscar-nominated West Side Story, revealed on Instagram she hasn't been invited to next week's awards ceremony. When a commenter said they were looking forward to seeing what Zegler wears on Oscar night, she replied, "I'm not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend's flannel."

Since everybody whose anybody gets invited she must be a nobody. FWTW I'm not going either. I got an invitation but I can't afford the gas to get there. I am rooting for the director of "Belfast", Kenneth Branagh, nominated for best director, best original screen play and best picture. LET'S GO BRANAGH!

Seriously, I don't go to the movies and most Americans will ignore the Oscars because the hollywood types are loons. But this seems strange even to me. I'm surprised she didn't bring a bit of racism into this discussion. It would have been nice if some of the others involved in this movie (who will be there) boycott the event. This is stupid even beyond their normal level of stupidity.

When people complained about there being Spanish with no subtitles in this American movie, this little witch very snobbishly and elitistly stated that "this is the 21st century and you should all learn Spanish". It was so much fun watching this movie bomb at the box office after that!!!

Will we ever have a time in politics where we won’t have Nancy Pelosi to kick around anymore, to paraphrase Richard Nixon? According to a new book from New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns, that time may come sooner than you think, but not necessarily for the reasons you’d assume. ATLANTA (AP) — When Democrat Stacey Abrams first ran for Georgia governor in 2018, her lackluster personal finances and a hefty bill from the IRS gave Republicans fodder to question how she could manage a state budget when she struggled with her own debts. As she launches a second bid this year, that’s no longer an issue. Abrams now says she’s worth $3.17 million, according to state disclosures filed in March. That’s compared with a net worth of $109,000 when she first ran four years ago.

Russian forces are poised to invade Ukraine unless the United States and NATO cave to Vladimir Putin's demands. The Biden administration and the Western military alliance have no plans to mount a meaningful response to Russia's unprovoked aggression, but they have gone to great lengths to ensure their symbolic expression of outrage will be as "gender inclusive" as possible. The NATO Gender-Inclusive Language Manual, published in April 2020, offers crucial guidance for Western military officials regarding the use of

National Review’s Kevin Williamson is urging conservatives to divorce, or at least, separate, for a time, from the Republican Party -- that is, from the Donald Trump-led Republican Party. In a recent column, Williamson claims that what he calls “sensible conservatives” twenty years ago or so “could take a realistic, instrumental view of the GOP and find it reasonably useful for our ends.” But not today. Not when the Republican Party consists of “vulgar” populists and “infantile” nationalists who loathe free trade, free speech, the U.S. military, and libertarians.

Last week Cook Political Report posted an analysis of the House midterm election which said “Both sides see the possibility of a Red Tsunami in 2022.” But the rest of the Cook piece argued that because of redistricting changes 2022 can’t possibly equal a tsunami like the one in 1994 when Republicans won 54 seats. There are simply not as many competitive seats in the House as there used to be. So the author ultimately predicted a more modest wave: Every metric we use to analyze the political environment — the president’s approval rating, the mood of the electorate, the enthusiasm gap — all point to huge gains

For starters, the attendees were not only NATO nations; there were also observers present: the European Union, Sweden, Finland, Georgia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Ukraine. If Putin was afraid of being surrounded before, he should take a quick look at his map now (just a reminder that Japan and Russia still have an unresolved border dispute, see Russia conducts military exercises in disputed islands).  As if to validate the stereotype of the Germans being

The Alabama Legislature passed a bill Thursday criminalizing sex-change treatments for children, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. If signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, the bill would treat the castration of children and other sex-change treatments as Class C felonies. Such felonies carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison for medical practitioners, Politico reported. The legislation would ban medical treatments done for the purpose of changing a child’s appearance or affirming his or her gender identity, including drugs that halt healthy puberty; cross-sex hormones; surgical sterilizations such as castration, vasectomies, and hysterectomies; cosmetic genital reconstruction surgeries; and removal of healthy body parts.
