A dude who witnessed some brazen shoplifting at a Walgreens store in Alameda on Saturday decided to take matters into his own hands and tackle the guy, claiming citizen's arrest.
The entire situation was caught on camera.
Witnessing what appears to be shoplifting at Walgreens isn’t exactly uncommon in the San Francisco Bay Area these days.
But what is uncommon is seeing a customer step in to stop the crime themselves. The man requested he only be referred to by his first name of Kevin.
“This is a time you can make an impact, make this happen,” Kevin said. “I see him leaving the store, and I threw him to the ground.”

I guess the lesson is that we should all go into a store. Take what we want and leave. Won't take long to make a difference. If we all decided to do this it would stop quickly. Laws no longer apply equally.

Funny how the cops praise people who intervene and help their officers out when their officer end up getting hammered by some thug, but when people do the job the police should be doing they get all "we should arrest you for doing our jobs".

What do you expect? It IS California, the land of fruits and nuts.
Of course, it probably applies to most Blue states.

So do I understand this correctly? The guy stops a store theft and he can get charged? With what? Interfering with a perp committing a crime? Who is going to charge him? The perp? The police? This is madness. The man is a good samaritan. He should get an award from the police and a credit card from Walgreens.

What the hell is the use of a security guard if the security guard isn't allowed to stop a thief from taking store items without paying!

Just imagine how prevalent shop-lifting would be if, in the back of each thief’s mind, the thief feared that someone would body slam him/her, or at least intervene. Theft should NOT be the norm despite Democrats’ proclivities. Stores are a business not a free-for-all. Pay for your chosen item or leave without it, pal.

The police work for the politicians who pay them. The politicians (being psychopaths) work for their own personal power, wealth and glory.
The police are not your friends. Perhaps they were, sometime in the distant past. Not now.

Rampant theft. Another reason for inflation. "They've got insurance !!! That'll pay for any theft !". Sure, but companies and stores don't pay insurance, among other things. You do - through higher prices.

That´s not the right message to society, if you intervene in helping another citizen, you will be charged... Why are we backing the blue when they refuse to back us up? It doesn't make sense anymore. I want to give the blue benefit of the doubt but when good Samaritan intervenes and potentially gets arrested, that is crazy. Citizens have the right to arrest someone and detain someone until police arrive. Police are citizens operating under the same law, they are just paid to do a dangerous job.
