Russian energy giant Lukoil calls for
immediate end of Ukraine war

Moscow, Russia — Russian oil giant Lukoil on Thursday called for an immediate halt to fighting in Ukraine, one of the first major domestic firms to speak out against Moscow’s invasion of its pro-Western neighbor. The board “expresses its concern over the ongoing tragic events in Ukraine and its deepest sympathy to all those affected by this tragedy,” the company said in a statement. “We stand for the immediate cessation of the armed conflict and fully support its resolution through the negotiation process and through diplomatic means,” its note added. Russian President Vladimir Putin has pressed ahead with his assault against Ukraine, which he announced last week despite warnings from the West

IIRC, the president of Lukoil made the mistake of opposing Putin a few years back and spent a couple of years in prison because of it.

In related news, on March 7th, the entire board of directors of Lukoil will sadly be involved in traffic accidents and die. You think Arkanicide is dangerous here in the USA to people that cross the Clintons, you should try to cross Putin in Russia. I'm betting it won't lead to a long and healthy life!!!

Did Hitler stop? Putin won’t either until forced to. His ego will not allow him to stop moving forward. I am not advocating that we try and stop him but it is good when people speak out against him. It does put pressure on him and who knows, he may crack if some reports we have heard are true. Wouldn’t it be ironic if he and Biden were leading their respective countries while both being mentally unstable? The world is so crazy now, not much would shock me. Whether he is or is not mentally impaired, he should to stop this vicious aggression. I fear he is feeling the pressure from around the world and that will only stiffen his resolve. Dictators are like that. I can’t see him willingly stopping his invasion. What a mess this is! Global warming is not going to get us, but good old fashioned aggression by a dictator may.

I’m not as pessimistic as everyone else seems to be, but then I’ve always been an optimist. The Russian people are against this war. The Russian soldiers are against this war. They are hungry and pitifully supplied with garbage equipment. If Lukoil joins up with other Russian oil companies, the military generals, the troops and the population, they may be able to remove Putin. He can’t fight Ukraine and all of Russia at the same time. It may be pie in the sky, but that is my current prayer.

I'm with #12. Hitler didn't have the whole world against him. Many in England and even the US were sympathizers. The policy towards him was hands-off, not our problem. Putin miscalculated but he does have the strength to destroy Ukraine. Ancient writings call that a pyrrhic victory.

The Luk Oil CEO and its board can expect to spend more years of their lives in the russkie gulag for saying what they said. Putie is going to finish his invasion his way while the rest of the world either sits on its hands or springs into action. No, I'm not advocating for WWIII. Rather restoration of leadership particularly in our country couldn't come at a better time. A military war is not the only type of war available to the west. A couple of questions to our dims and deep state, Pence, CJ Roberts, Turtle, AG Barr, the chicoms, Iran, and any local election officials who contributed to the Great Election Fraud of 2020 - was your little election fraud scheme to remove Trump really worth what we are witnessing today in Amerika and especially now in Ukraine? How is today's collapse of American leadership moving the country forward? It took years before Hitler finally took himself out while WWII raged on. I don't see Putie jumping off any high buildings any time soon unless he has a terminal illness we are not aware of. He knows perfectly well what he is doing. He isn't going nuts. From his KGB days to today, he has always been this evil. The satanic forces within him are in control for the time being. Short of Divine Intervention at this stage, I sure hope the way forward described by #12 becomes reality.

Seems quite a few very rich Russians have left the country over the last few days. I suspect they are taking their money and running, and they're not heading to China. Putin has a vision of what Russia was like fifty years ago. The average Russian not so much. What one doesn't hear so much is the growing protests over this invasion in Russian cities. Lukoil oil execs are just joining the thousands of ordinary Russian citizens that want this to stop. The military commanders also never told the soldiers what was going on. The Russian soldiers thought they were going on maneuvers. Not invading a country.

Biden Says He Plans to Do ‘Nothing’

President Biden on Wednesday admitted that he plans to do “nothing” differently in the second half of his first term to restore Americans’ confidence in the direction of their country, despite the possibility that Republicans reclaim a majority in the House after an otherwise lackluster midterm performance. Speaking to reporters the day after the midterm elections, Biden was asked what he might do differently to address voters’ concerns about the economy and the widespread sentiment that the country is generally moving in the wrong direction. Biden replied: “nothing.”

Florida’s traditionally blue Miami-Dade County went red Tuesday evening as Republicans celebrated victories statewide, representing a significant political shift in the Sunshine State. Tuesday’s election marked a massive shift in favor of Republicans in Florida, who have made significant gains in the state over the past four years. In late 2021, for the first time ever, registered Republicans outnumbered registered Democrats in the Sunshine State. But, over the past year, that lead has swelled to roughly 300,000 nationwide, and it showed Tuesday evening.

While votes are still being counted, and there could be a few, rare bright spots left for Republicans, one thing is clear: The red wave didn’t materialize in 2022. Ironically, some accused me of being too conservative when I predicted the GOP only getting to 235 seats in the House. Now, the Republican Party might end up with a majority far less than that. The Senate is pretty much a wasteland as well, with Mehmet Oz, despite a strong push down the stretch, not being able to overcome his unfavorables in Pennsylvania. Just kidding. Out of the range of possible outcomes, what we saw last night was about as bad as it could be. The GOP’s failure to make progress stunned everyone, not least the Democrats. What happened? * Fantasy vs. Reality. It turns out that there are a great many voters who don’t care much about what traditionally have been considered decisive issues: inflation, crime, illegal immigration, lousy schools, etc. Many millions of Democrats, confronted with these facts, didn’t conclude that they should consider voting for someone else. Rather, they seem to have thought, My team is in trouble! All the more reason why I need to support my team.
Trump Wrongly Blamed for Sup-Par GOP Performance 9 replies

The Republicans had a pretty good midterm election despite what pundits are claiming. The GOP must win three of the remaining four Senate races to win control of the upper chamber — a goal well within reach as Republicans lead in Nevada and Wisconsin. And the party is within spitting distance of a House majority. But no red wave. A combination of better-than-expected Democratic enthusiasm and underperforming Republican candidates squandered several opportunities to flip House seats and give the GOP a sizable House majority in January. How did this happen?

In recent weeks, control of the U.S. Senate looked achievable for the first time in months. Yet, thanks to the underperformance of some of Donald Trump’s hand-picked candidates, that path to a majority is exceptionally slim — things look good for Laxalt in Nevada, which means that control of the Senate will come down to a runoff election in Georgia. Winning control of the U.S. Senate would allow the GOP to block Biden from filling the judiciary with leftist judges, yet, on Tuesday night, when Colorado Republican candidate Joe O’Dea’s lost to incumbent Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet, Trump’s reaction was, to say the least, shocking.

On CBS Mornings, White House correspondent Ed O’Keefe had just finished arguing that President Biden did well in areas where candidates embraced him and poorly in areas where he didn’t go (which wasn’t true considering his stops in Florida for the hapless Democratic ticket)

Well, that was disheartening, dispiriting, and demoralizing. We went into the party with a president with some of the lowest approval ratings in history and Americans (at least according to the polls) focused like lasers on issues that could be chalked up to Democrat policy failures — namely, inflation and crime. And yet Republicans are hanging on by a thread, and, as of this writing, it's still possible that Democrats will retain their majority in the House and gain a full majority in the Senate. If that happens, the American experiment is over, and the Marxist experiment truly begins. So how did we get here?

“Blame Donald Trump” is the name of the game after the long-promised red wave turned into a red ripple Tuesday night. Republicans appeared likely to narrowly recapture the House, with the Senate still a toss-up. The former president received the brunt of the blame by some Republicans for the underperformance, with several high-profile Trump-backed candidates on the ballot failing to capture key races and deliver a GOP sweep of both houses of Congress. Some conservatives argued it’s time for the GOP to dump Mr. Trump and rally around the man who many now view as the future of the party: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. “We need a Republican overhaul.

Not so much. It also rarely makes much of a difference, because committing massive fraud is difficult, requires the cooperation of significant numbers of people to pull off, and when it matters a lot the lawyers get involved. I think it happens a lot more than Democrats are willing to admit, but I also think it affects the outcomes of elections a lot fewer times than many Republicans suppose. It is a marginal
