Florence asks residents to pay utility
bills of struggling pensioners

Original Article

Florence residents are being asked to pay the utility bills of elderly people living alone and struggling to make ends meet as the city’s leaders seek to shield the most vulnerable from soaring energy costs. The “adopt a bill” initiative begins in the next few days and comes as the social implications of a more than 50% hike in gas and electricity bills in Italy this winter start to manifest. “The social impact is very strong as we’re facing huge increases in bills,” Dario Nardella, the mayor of Florence, told the Guardian. “We’ve received many calls and letters from people who are in great difficulty.”

Comments:

The concept of simply not making energy prices necessarily skyrocket isn't even under consideration, so they spread the misery using human compassion as the grease. Show these leaders the door; is that too radical?

With Green New Energy, the people of Italy can forget about their energy problems. I hear China is does well. Texas is doing well, no concern about winter warming.

The White House on Wednesday blamed Republican senators for exacerbating inflation, arguing that blocking President Biden’s nominees to the Federal Reserve Board has handicapped efforts to curb rising prices. Mr. Biden thinks that Republicans are “AWOL” in the inflation fight because they put the brakes on a key Fed nominee, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “Everyone understands we need a full Federal Reserve board, the first one in nearly a decade to tackle inflation and bring prices down for American families,” she said.(Snip)Republicans boycotted a Senate Banking Committee meeting on Tuesday to protest and delay advancing the nomination of Sarah Bloom Raskin as the Fed’s top
