COVID Antiviral Pills Cause Life-Threatening
Reactions With Many Common Meds

Last week, the FDA authorized two much-hyped antiviral treatments for COVID (just in time for Christmas): Merck's Molnupiravir and Pfizer's Paxlovid. Almost immediately after the first data were released, critics were questioning the drugs' safety profile. But now that the first courses of these "miracle" drugs are finding their way into patients' bloodstreams, the mainstream media apparently now feels it's safe to share some of these criticisms with the public.(snip)Unfortunately, both Pfizer's and Merck's drugs come with some serious drawbacks, the biggest being that they can cause life-threatening reactions with widely used medications like statins - taken by people with high blood pressure - blood thinners, and even some antidepressants.

Um, statins are used for people with high cholesterol, not blood pressure, as far as I know. Either way, there are tons of people on statins, including me. Why won't they use ivermectin? It has been proven already.

Response # 1 is suggesting the unthinkable. Using an inexpensive, time tested, safe, effective and lifesaving medication such as ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine when it doesn’t profit Big Pharma or Fauci and his buds and subjects. That is obviously akin to hersay..

What? Even more conspiracy theories? Paxlovid is a mixture of two drugs, nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. The second drug is to delay the metabolism of nirmatrelvir, It inhibits the enzyme CYP3A. It will potentiate the effects of a dozen or so drugs which are metabolized through this. pathway. Physicians are fully used to considering drug interactions when prescribing, and pharmacists have automated systems to issue warnings to limit the downside. There is absolutely no conspiracy going on! The facts are fully revealed: https://www.fda.gov/media/155050/download Once again, ivermectin has been subjected to 83 clinical trials in Covid, and has failed to show any useful efficacy: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=covid&term=ivermectin&cntry=&state=&city=&dist=

But, SAFE and EFFECTIVE drugs like HCQ and ivermectin are essentially banned in most hospitals. Medical fraud is rampant in the land. Vaccines that aren't really vaccines and don't work are mandatory or you lose your job. Drugs that WORK are suppressed viciously, killing tens to hundreds of thousands.

https://journals.lww.com/americantherapeutics/fulltext/2021/08000/ivermectin_for_prevention_and_treatment_of.7.aspx From Cochrane: Authors' conclusions: Based on the current very low- to low-certainty evidence, we are uncertain about the efficacy and safety of ivermectin used to treat or prevent COVID-19. The completed studies are small and few are considered high quality. Several studies are underway that may produce clearer answers in review updates. Overall, the reliable evidence available does not support the use ivermectin for treatment or prevention of COVID-19 outside of well-designed randomized trials. Which apparently have not been done. Thus the extensive anecdotal evidence of the efficacy of ivermectin has been cast aside by those who believe in only large well-designed clinical trials. And no one is doing those. Why? Because they are expensive. And there is little return on investment to those who produce Ivermectin. Its having been around for years, its patents having expired, it is no longer interesting to Big Pharma and those who profit from it. We know that medical professionals receive big money for advocating various therapeutics. One would hope no one posting here behind a username would be one of those.

What kind of reactions? Any medication can interact with another medication. Some reactions a dangerous; some are trivial. This story seems like any number of other stories that is meant to disabuse the use of therapeutics (see hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin) to keep the hysteria rising.

The Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus is estimated to have taken over Delta as the most prevalent strain contributing to new COVID-19 infections, accounting for 58.6 percent of all strains actively circulating in the United States as of Dec. 25, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said, as it drastically revised an earlier projection of new Omicron infections. CDC officials significantly reduced estimates for the week ending Dec. 18 that had erroneously indicated a nearly six-fold increase in Omicron’s share of infections in only one week.
