I suggested last week that negative stories about Kamala Harris that ran on CNN and over at Politico were surely planted by the Biden political staff at the White House, but I’m not sure whether the same can be said about today’s much more savage story in The Telegraph: “With Kamala Harris looking unelectable, the Democrats are considering the nuclear option.” Unlike the Daily Mail, which sensationalizes news from the U.S. in tabloid style—though it must be said that it is often reporting stories the U.S. mainstream media avoids—The Telegraph is a staid broadsheet. Thus, some of the content of this story is all the more astounding for the panic

CHICAGO — The man Jussie Smollett allegedly paid to help him stage a hate crime took the stand in the actor’s criminal trial Wednesday, describing how he took part in the hoax because he thought the ‘”Empire” star could help push his own acting career.
Abimbola Osundairo, 28, told jurors in Chicago’s criminal court on day three of the trial how Smollett directed nearly every aspect of the alleged fake attack, from the racial and homophobic slurs him and his brother, Olabinjo, were to use down to who should throw the punches.
“He explained that he wanted me to fake beat him up,” Osundairo testified.
As Ed has already pointed out this morning, you can’t always tell from oral arguments what Supreme Court Justices are thinking, much less where they will land in a final decision. But that doesn’t stop media outlets of all stripes from doing their best to read the room. And there seems to be general agreement from those who listened to the arguments this morning that there’s not a lot of good news here for abortion supporters. First up is Nina Totenberg at NPR:

I’m not sure I ever expected to write this article, and just a few years ago it would have seemed impossible to ponder, but signs are pointing toward Roe v. Wade, the vile politicized decision that legalized and protected abortion in all 50 states, being nuked.
The Supreme Court is currently engrossed in oral arguments, and the live stream of the event has offered some big clues to how things are going and where things are headed.

One of the major moments from Wednesday’s blockbuster oral arguments in the Supreme Court hearing on Mississippi’s law banning abortion after 15 weeks was when Chief Justice John Roberts noted that because of Roe v. Wade, America found itself in the company of China and North Korea in allowing abortion after viability was reached. This important point went completely unmentioned by the broadcast networks that took up the liberal position in support of the barbaric act.
“Roe v. Wade established a woman's constitutional right to have an abortion and if the court upholding the Mississippi law, it would undermine or overrule Roe altogether.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was sworn in on October 23, 1991. Beginning in 1996, he would take a 10-year break from asking questions from the bench, until the first case before the Court following the death of Chief Justice Antonin Scalia, his ideological soul mate.
While still measured, Thomas has been known to take lawyers to the mat when he sees fit to do so. Wednesday morning’s oral arguments in the Mississippi abortion case — that threatens to weaken Roe v. Wade if not overturn it — provided Justice Thomas the perfect opportunity to do just that, with a round of tough questions for the “pro-choice” lawyers.

Well, to be fair, they have several choices, but George Stephanopoulos is perhaps the favorite. So Alec Baldwin sought out Stephanopoulos to explain how he came to shoot and kill Halyna Hutchins. Today ABC News released a preview clip of that interview:

The Biden administration is expected to announce stricter COVID-19 testing requirements for all travelers entering the U.S. on Thursday, including returning Americans, according to a new report.
Three federal health officials reportedly told the Washington Post the administration is readying stricter testing requirements amid concern over the new Omicron variant. The new guidance would require everyone entering the U.S. to be tested one day before boarding flights, regardless of vaccination status or country of departure.
Officials are also weighing a requirement that all travelers get retested within three to five days of arrival, as well as a proposal to require all travelers to self-quarantine for seven days, even if they test negative.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, the celebrity physician best known as the host of the Dr. Oz Show, announced Tuesday that he is running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania as a Republican.

The 'bullied' teenage gunman who shot dead four students at Oxford High School in Michigan on Tuesday has been identified as 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley. Crumbley lives with his parents James and Jennifer in a small home in Oxford, less than two miles from where he opened fire on Tuesday, killing Tate Myre, 16, Hana St Juliana, 14, and 17-year-old Madisyn Baldwin. A fourth boy, Justin Shilling, 17, died in the hospital on Wednesday morning. Crumbley's motive for the shooting remains unconfirmed by police, but kids at the school say he was being bullied.

Details are thin, but Presidentish Joe Biden reportedly will suspend his vaccine mandate for federal workers.
According to a memo issued by the Biden administration, the “White House’s Office of Management and Budget is telling federal agencies they should hold off on suspending or firing federal workers for not complying with the vaccine mandate until after the holidays.”
This is a huge cave for an administration whose remaining anti-COVID effort is focused almost exclusively on the vaccine mandate.
