WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Peter DeFazio, who has represented Oregon’s Fourth Congressional District for 36 years, announced Wednesday he won’t seek re-election in 2022. DeFazio is the longest serving House member from Oregon and the 65th-longest serving member of the House in U.S. history. “With humility and gratitude, I am announcing that I will not seek re-election next year,” DeFazio said in a press release Wednesday. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as Congressman for the Fourth District of Oregon. For 36 years I have fought corporate greed and special interests to benefit Oregon’s working

Classic lie. FTA - "For 36 years I have fought corporate greed and special interests to benefit Oregon’s working families... Thank you for putting your trust in me."
Tell that to the Oregon lumber families that the Democrats put out of work over the last 40 years. Yeah, you were in on that you POS. I suspect lots of Board appointments and fat cat retirement payoffs for this lying sack of shite.

this delirious ingrate is soiling his BVD's thinking about the investigations when / if the repubs take over the House and hopefully, Senate because they know our President is only a stone's throw away from sitting behind the big desk in the Oval Office.
all the commies are bailing knowing the end is near.
Remember when our President said, many times, "the United States will never be a socialist nation" or something resembling that sentiment.

Has the 4 cd of Oregon been red pilled? I’d love know how Trump did there in 2020 although I’ll bet Oregon is ripe with democRATic fraud.

"with humility and gratitude..." Blah blah blah.
He should be humiliated for getting rich off the government for way too many years. Disgusting.

If we didn't have all mail voting here in Oregon, there might be a small chance of replacing him with a conservative. But the Democrats control the ballots and there we don't stand a virgin's chance on Epstein's jet of getting anyone better in his place.

What's disgusting is that this old mossback has been hanging around DC for 36 years. What's REALLY disgusting is that sixty-four others have hung around in the House of Representatives even longer. God only knows what the records are in the Senate where you only have to fool the voters every six years.

Poster #6, same thing here in Washington state. All mail-in ballot. They learned their lesson in 2004, when Republican Dino Rossi won the governor's race. He was governor for about 3 days and then all the 'lost, misplaced' uncounted ballots started coming in and Christine Gregoire won. With just enough votes to keep the ballots from having to be recounted. After that is when they went to all mail in balloting. It's a lot easier to cheat that way.

P.S. OR-4 covers the university towns of Eugene and Corvallis. Good luck flipping that seat to the GOP.

Don't look for it, folks - - because you won't find it.
The word "demonrat" does NOT appear in this article. If this creep were a Pubbie - - that would be the first word in the headline and in
the article.

I am dreaming but two four-year terms for the House and the same for the Senate would go a long way toward improving the congressional cesspool. Never happen with grifters like this POS "leading" what's left of our country.

Leave now, congressman. You will not be missed regardless of party affiliation. My only regret is that his constituents will most likely vote in another from the idiot party.

Oregon 4th is Cooks PVI R+1. Democrat's have held this Republican district since 1975. No way Democrats keep ahold of it with the generic ballot advantage the GOP has. His options were to retire or lose after all those years... a smart move. The only question now is who Trump will endorse, who will then win the primary by a landslide, who will then win the seat easily. It's just math...

Good Riddence - one of the most corrupt Dims in Congress. He carried the district in 2020 agains Alek Skarlatos of 15:17 to Paris fame. Close, finishing with 46.3% of the vote against DeFazio's 51.6%. The district include Eugene and Corvallis, but has a lot of RED areas with plenty of Trump supporters - my mom lives out there. Skarlatos is running again - no he has even a better chance of winning. Let's GO Brandon!!

I suspect many long-time democrats will be calling it a career in the coming weeks.
They won't enjoy being in the minority party, and they are starting to see that large numbers of Republicans are signing up to be election workers.
I hope that holds true, and they are well trained with legal counsel to help them.
