Dr. Mehmet Oz, the celebrity physician best known as the host of the Dr. Oz Show, announced Tuesday that he is running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania as a Republican.
“During the pandemic, I learned that when you mix politics and medicine, you get politics instead of solutions. That’s why I am running for the U.S. Senate: to help fix the problems and to help us heal,” Oz wrote in a column published in the Washington Examiner.
The 61-year-old heart surgeon joins a crowded Republican primary field vying to succeed retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey. Businessman Jeff Bartos and former U.S. ambassador to Denmark Carla Sands have declared their candidacy

Milk Toast at best. Establishment tool at worst. We don’t need more celebrities telling us what to do. Former Pennsylvania resident here and I know a few truck drivers who could do a much better job for the PEOPLE than a TV DR.

We have plenty of pro-choice, wealthy moderate Republicans in the Senate. He will therefore gets lots of support from the RNCC and party establishment. Yuk.
I say “pro-choice” because he has never said he was anything else. He won’t jeopardize those woke celebrity friendships he has by being MAGA or pro-life in any way.

You can disparage him and it may very well be warranted, but he is the reason my sister is alive today. 14 years ago on some talk show he listed the symptoms of ovarian cancer (which is very hard to detect) and my sister, a nurse, realized she had all of them. She went in and INSISTED she be tested and she was diagnosed and treated for stage 3 ovarian cancer. With excellent medical care and her native German stubbornness she is still here today. He may be a TV dr but he has saved at least one life. I am grateful.

#4, all that may be true but the reward lies within the medical community, not a seat in the US Senate.

Good grief, the Republicans can do better than this charlatan.

Nope. I can't stand entertainment celebrities who think they can jump in at the top, Trump with his lenghty executive experrience being the exception. Oz needs to get some experience in elected office first.... like dogcatcher in his county of residence.

Toomey is a total jerk so anybody with the right intentions will be an improvement. Pennsylvania needs a housecleaning top to bottom. Jumping in at the "top" of government is not a big deal if you go in with the right attitude. You can't fail unless you go along with the corrupt element. Look how long Biden, Sanders, Pelosi, Fat Teddy, etc. spent warming a chair and none of them is worth a Schiff.

I've never watched him and I'm not from PA but the lightweighted attacks, lacking specificity, on Oz seem a bit unfair. Besides, there have been several MDs that have served well in Congress and I don't discount #4. The ability to gain and use knowledge and skill are fungible across many fields of endeavor. FPDT was never a dog catcher either.

My wife loves this guy...I have never trusted him. We'll certainly cancel each other in the primary. PA has had way too many "moderate" Pubbies. Give me another A. Lincoln, someone who'll fight for the country, not acclamation.

I was polled the other week about him running for our senator here in PA. I told them no thanks, he would be another Pat Toomey. We don't need another RINO.
#3, I'm not sure if he is a resident. My bet he bought a condo recently to make him a resident.

Democrats are going to have a hard time in PA since the election was stolen. This is very strange and reeks of deep state who own the media. Dr. Oz is a carpetbagger from NJ. He is likely being controlled.
And let's not forget Traitor Toomey (R) who came out THE DAY AFTER the election and said there were no signs of voter fraud in PA. Obviously, he was ordered to do it. He had to know he would look like a fool and he did.
There are sinister forces at work behind the scenes and they are everywhere, including the Maxwell trial.

I am very suspect of this guy. Had no clue he was a Republican. What would you call yourself if not that? Independent? Not a chance of being elected. What normal person would want to be called a democrat? They are completely anti-American with an added bonus of being quite insane. There’s no place to go but the Republican Party if you want to run for office. Problem is we need real conservatives to represent us who won’t abandon us once they get to Washington. If any candidate doesn’t understand that we are in a war for the very soul of this country and won’t commit to enter the field of battle on behalf of the American people, then stay home. We have moved passed the days of comity and goodwill. We need warriors and at this point I don’t even care if they are happy or not.

I know nothing about him but if he's a real doctor who fought lockdowns and vac mandates, I like him more than I dislike him. I'll at least listen to see what he has to say.

Not familiar with this guy, but, some quick questions. Does he believe in the United States of America as founded? Does he believe in God? Was he on the Trump train in 2016 and in 2020? Does he believe the Great Election Fraud of 2020 was at the hands of the dims and some folks should be in prison for it? Is he woke or not woke?

I would be curious to see where he stands on the issues. Somehow doubt Dr. Oz will climb way out on a limb and differentiate himself from what we currently see in Washington. In other words, he will be a climate change believing globalist open borders deep state RINO Republican. Sigh.
Can see the republicans taking back Congress in 2022, and the executive office in 2024. The media will fall all over themselves saying it's proof the elections aren't stolen. Problem is there won't be a single Conservative constitutional pro-American Republican among them, and the Democrat agenda will continue unabated.

We don't know what Dr. Oz's politics are. The two Democrats running in this Senate race are terrible candidates. I much prefer Dr. Oz to one of them. The Republicans take the Senate then we control Supreme Court confirmation hearings and other confirmation hearings. And we must stop the Biden agenda!

Never seen his show but if it’s still on the air, he just lost half of his audience. That’s a pretty big risk to take. If he’d be replacing a demonrat, I say go for it.

Oz speaks on the Hannity radio show quite often and his views always lean conservative. His medical opinions and experience seem sound. Hannity is a pretty good judge of character except when he idolizes the FBI about which he is dead wrong. He may know good individual agents like most of us do but en-toto they are just another crooked federal bureaucracy with the top completely rotted.

I hope all the moderates and centrists fleeing to the Republican party for safety understand that this is TRUMP's party now, that they are NOT going to "nudge it" to the left, and that the first time they break in ANY way from America First and MAGA we will drop them so fast they will think they were never really here.
Trump won

Oz is running on name recognition. He has nothing else to offer. But if he can go warm another Republican seat in the Senate we are one step closer to getting rid of Schumer.
