White House tells Americans to get booster
shot as soon as possible because vaccines
offer 'degree of protection' against Omicron:
Biden holds Covid briefing as variant

Nigeria (which is NOT on US travel ban list)

The White House on Sunday called on people to get their booster shots as a matter of urgency, as the new variant Omicron was confirmed to have arrived in North America. Joe Biden returned from his Thanksgiving break to hold an emergency meeting with his COVID advisors on Sunday evening—with Dr Anthony Fauci sounding a hopeful note, saying he believed 'existing vaccines are likely to provide a degree of protection against severe cases' from Omicron.(Snip)'Dr. Fauci also reiterated that boosters for fully vaccinated individuals provide the strongest available protection from COVID. The COVID Response Team's immediate recommendation to all vaccinated adults is to get a booster shot

Comments:

The vaccine manufacturers say they're working on enhanced vaxxes, which in Pfizer's case might be ready in 100 days, but we're urged to get boosters right now, even if they admittedly do not work, because billions of dollars are at stake. Trust The Science, people.

Homeland Security is rushing to recruit volunteers from within its ranks to vet Americans who want to sponsor Ukrainians fleeing their country amid the ongoing war with Russia. The move is the latest sign that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is overwhelmed by the demands the Biden administration is placing on it, according to former officials who worry that the raw recruits are being sought to “rubber-stamp” all applications. The volunteers are supposed to carry out the Biden administration’s plan to welcome 100,000 Ukrainian migrants by connecting them with sponsors who have vowed to make sure the newcomers are financially supported and don’t become a burden on taxpayers.

Attempts by Oxford University researchers and AstraZeneca Plc (AZN.L) to create a nasal-spray version of their jointly developed COVID-19 shot suffered a setback on Tuesday as initial testing on humans did not yield the desired protection. An antibody response in the respiratory mucous membranes was seen in only a minority of participants in the trial, which was in the first of usually three phases of clinical testing, the University of Oxford said in a statement on Tuesday. Also, the immune response measured in the blood was weaker than that from a shot-in-the-arm vaccination. Researchers across the world have placed high hopes on nasal spray vaccines
