Abraham Lincoln’s Message to Us This Thanksgiving

Original Article

In October 1863, Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia was still retreating south from the Gettysburg Campaign that summer and moving slowly toward the Rappahannock River. The Union’s George Meade followed closely behind but gave up the chase and was in the process of moving back north when A.P. Hill decided to attack the retreating Union forces at the Battle of Bristoe Station, Virginia. Hill was soundly defeated. Lee was furious with Hill’s reckless military decision-making. It was at this grave turning point in the American Civil War that President Lincoln issued this proclamation on October 3, 1863

I know very well who Mr Lincoln was, as I got all the hype in school about it growing up. What they didn't tell us was that he proved if you try to quit the gang, he will kill you. Sounds a lot like the mob or ms13. I dont much care what he had to say.

I firmly believe that God inspired the Founding Fathers of this country to declare the colonies' independence from the English crown and to formulate a constitution that would insure the survival of the United States so long as its people remembered God and devoted themselves to the protection of the Constitution and upholding the unity of the government. Having studied Lincoln on and off for much of my life, I also believe he was an instrument in God's hands to preserve the United States for its destiny as a beacon of liberty to the rest of the world. In the midst of the horrors of the Civil War, he declared Thanksgiving Day to try and turn men's hearts back to God, whose aid the Union so sorely needed. Lincoln's prose was often heartbreakingly sublime. I have often marveled, as does this writer, that his words, written by no servile speechwriter, were penned by ". . . a man who never went to a formal school." I personally have often thanked God for Lincoln and have prayed that we may have others like him to lead our country out of its current slow decline.

In Catholic school I often heard "pray for the lost". As I read daily news I know exactly what it means to be (or see) the lost. We are indeed lost. Our ONLY solution is to turn to the real God and serve him first.

Thankfully, when times have been horrible and corrupted throughout the past, America has had leaders who have kept the vision for this country that the Founder's attempted to secure for us in freedom. Though corruption creeps in and grows, this country's Constitutional foundation is still there waiting for us to acknowledge and return to its Truths. Lincoln had the vision for America, as did Reagan and, yes, Trump. We the People dare not loose America's vision. We must protect America's principles of freedom, for are those who would steal it away.

In a recent article in the American Thinker entitled, The Thirteen-Hundred-And-Eighty-Nine Year War, I outlined some of the major battles in the to-the-death struggle between Islam and Christianity. Back and forth, back and forth it has gone until Christianity and the West seemed to have prevailed after World War I. The Battle for Afghanistan, 2021, just turned the tables.

The media and other Democrats have a hissy fit every time anyone tries to limit abortion at all. They always claim Republicans don't care about women's rights. This is rich considering the President they support just handed over Afghanistan to the Taliban, which doesn't believe in women's rights. Why would anyone ever trust Biden on anything, considering how much he continuously has lied about the debacle in Afghanistan? He even had a conversation with then-Afghan president Ghani in July where Biden told him that he must change the perception of Taliban's rampaging ...

History failed to record Leon Trotsky’s final thoughts as the ice axe penetrated his skull. But it’s reasonable to suspect that the founding Soviet revolutionary thought something similar to what New York Governor Andrew Cuomo might now be thinking: “Hey guys, I thought we were all on the same side!” Hero Trotsky had a greater claim to revolutionary credibility than Stalin did. Of course, this is why he was destroyed. Cuomo rocketed in popularity by providing a vivid contrast to Donald Trump during the days of dueling COVID-19 press conferences. The media swooned

On November 17, President Trump appointed Brandon Wales as the Director for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Wales was a highly qualified choice as he had been CISA's first Executive Director and previously served as the Director of the DHS Office of Cyber and Infrastructure Analysis (OCIA), which provides analysis of cyber and physical risks to America’s critical infrastructure. Perhaps the most pressing cybersecurity issue for America and CISA currently is the fallout from the SolarWinds hacking attack that has affected at least 2000 computer systems belonging to over 100 governmental and non-governmental agencies across the world.

Town of Cranmoor - Gil Lancour was driving home for lunch when he saw the deer struggling on the ice-covered reservoir used for growing cranberries. He just had to stop. Lancour, a 32-year-old worker for the Elm Lake Cranberry Co. west of Wisconsin Rapids, is a lifelong hunter, angler and general outdoorsman. But he had never seen anything like this before. The doe was out on glassy, super-slippery ice that had frozen over the reservoir, which was part of another, neighboring cranberry farm. She was on her haunches, struggling to get traction on the ice.

Trump Derangement Syndrome, now playing out in the impeachment proceedings in the House, would require a Shakespeare adequately to describe and understand the way it is playing out as a motivating factor in our politics. The Bard did give us a hint of what is going on in one of his more obscure yet fabulously entertaining works, The Winter’s Tale. That mysterious late drama is a meditation on irrational jealousy, tyranny, and injustice. In the climactic scene in Act III of the play, when the innocent Queen Hermione is wrongly found guilty of adultery by her husband, King Leontes

Jesus said, “Blessed are those pure of heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Our country is filled with unheralded heroes. Those that don’t seek self-promotion or use bombast to be recognized. Their hearts are only pointed to serving others. They work for our good and for God, not seeking fame, but to serve. Many of our firefighters fit this model. They mostly serve as volunteers in local fire departments. They don’t get paid to serve, they just show up. They are the men and women who rush into burning buildings to bring people to safety.

How did the Constitution’s framers envision the presidency? Would Donald Trump be their worst nightmare, or just what they had in mind? We know something about what kind of person their ideal president was because of who was chosen to be our first. More or less the same folks who framed the Constitution agreed that George Washington should be the first president of the United States under the new federal government. Washington had led the Continental Army in its successful revolutionary war against Great Britain, he had presided over the Constitutional Convention itself, and he was regarded as a paragon

It is impossible for us to imagine what it was really like to have been locked in a desperate fight on that small island in the Pacific. When they mustered out as Marines, they were young and idealistic. When they hit the beaches at Iwo Jima, most were still in their teens. After the guns finally went silent, the survivors were men. Men as hard as diamonds. They had seen and done unimaginable things. They changed the course of the war and were themselves, forever changed. Rather, the Democratic Party’s entire brand was a wreck.” People who voted for Democrat President Joe Biden could not name anything that Democrats had done

The World Health Organization is currently meeting to discuss the variant, which is expected to be named Nu, today. It remains unclear exactly how deadly it is among unvaccinated people, and American health agencies are yet to make any form of warning about it but there are fears it is more transmissible than any other variant yet and that it may also render some vaccines ineffective.

California is set to adopt new math teaching principles that are based in critical race theory. These changes, which include deemphasizing calculus and pulling programs for academically gifted students, will "apply social justice principles to math lessons." These guidelines do not instruct educators to teach critical race theory, but rather use critical race theory as a guide for the formation of teaching principles. Critical race theory is not being taught to students, but taught to teachers, who are then meant to use it to formulate their own practices.

Millions of citizens long ago concluded that professional sports, academia, and entertainment were no longer disinterested institutions, but far Left and deliberately hostile to Middle America. Yet American conservatives still adamantly supported the nation’s traditional investigatory, intelligence, and military agencies—especially when they came under budgetary or cultural attacks. Not so much anymore. For the first time in memory, conservatives now connect the FBI hierarchy with bureaucratic bloat, political bias, and even illegality. In the last five years, the FBI was mostly in the news for the checkered careers of James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Robert Mueller, Lisa Page, and Peter Strzok. Add in the criminality of convicted FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith.
