Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey has said he remains undecided on whether to run for Texas Governor just three weeks out from the deadline - but stated it's 'not a question of if I could win.'McConaughey, who lives in Austin, has for months teased a run to unseat Republican Gregg Abbott - and was even tipped to beat the incumbent by pollsters this week in a head-to-head race. However, the 52-year-old actor and philanthropist would also need to see off stiff competition from Democrat Beto O'Rourke, and has yet to say whether he would run as a red or a blue.

Don't sell this guy short. He doesn't have to run as an R or D...he would make a three-way general race interesting. Abbott has his problems. Beto is a loser with nothing more to offer.

He could never survive a Republican primary. He just doesn't have the resources to unseat a popular governor with deep pockets.
So he would have to run as a Demon-Rat. Beto-the-faux-Mexican wouldn't have a shot against him. And while he would be very popular with the brain-dead lie-berals, when he started to state his beliefs that are more right than left from what I have seen, I'm not so sure the enthusiasm would stay very high.
Like pretty much every national leader, Abbott over-reacted to the Chinavirus pandemic. And he knows it. So he has been working overtime the last few months to win back his conservative credentials. He has won me back. Hopefully the "red wave" of 2022 will make all this a mute point.

Just what Texas and America needs, a polititian/governor with no experience. Maybe he can get Cher or Alicia Milano to run as his lieutenant governor and you'd have an executive branch that knows everything!

He isn't equipped to run a food truck, let alone something with more than one employee and a budget over $5,000.

Guys, he is already preparing a way to back out of this gracefully. I really think so. He realizes now, I’m sure, that he is in no way prepared or experienced in any way for such a job. Texas is in CRISIS, let’s be honest. Never in my lifetime have we more desperately needed extremely competent, Constitutionally-courageous conservative MAGA leadership. Abbott is struggling to rise to those qualities himself. Matt needs to get over if Arnie could do it, I can.

His answer was a good one. He has not decided to run because he has not yet decided that he would be a better governor for the state of Texas than the alternatives. The way he answered the question asked him seemed to imply that he would run if he thought he was the best possible choice, even if he doubted he could win. I am not convinced he would be a bad governor, but have my doubts that he would be an improvement over Governor Abbot, and those doubts are amplified by the fact that he appears to think that someone should run against Governor Abbot.
While Governor Abbot has his flaws, he is good enough that anyone running against him is either worse, or is going to help someone worse beat him.

#11 -Texan by choice, friend.
C’mon down and talk to all those “thrilled” with Abbott. After the great freeze and his ineffective but highly publicized border actions, you’ll hear a lot of hemming and hawing among the faithful. He has issues with all but the Abbottistas…under the right circumstances he’s vulnerable…and he knows it. Ask that liberal Allen West.

Its not a question if McConaughey could win or not. It is a question of can he give a coherent answer without a prewritten script. Can he be more than just a popular pretty boy who seems like everyone's best pal. The question is, does McConaughey really want to give that up by having to make unpopular decisions that actually effect people, knowing that he will make some people who current love him despise him for his decisions and views. For a Hollywood ego, to have fans suddenly dislike you is a hard thig to give up.

Texas needs someone who is competent that will GOVERN. They don't need celebrities. They don't need crooks. They don't need fakes.

I understand that he's a gun grabber. Lacking common sense in other areas, too - lost $1.5 million on the Longhorns against LSU two years ago.

Matthew has never been accused of being smart. Quite the opposite, actually. That, combined with #19's truism will insure that he doesn't run.
