President Joe Biden, his wife Jill and the extended Biden clan have camped out at the luxurious Nantucket compound owned by billionaire businessman turned philanthropist David Rubenstein for the Thanksgiving holiday.Like Biden, Rubenstein grew up in a middle-class, blue-collar family and originally started his career in government service. But he left that path to form a private equity company that would make him a billionaire many times over.Along the way, Rubenstein made friends with the rich and the powerful and on both sides of the political aisle: George H.W. Bush was an adviser to his company while Jimmy Carter is a close friend (who's also stayed at Rubenstein's Nantucket home).

Back in the 1960s, there was a meeting of various Mafia families, at a motel in the Catskills, as I recall. The meeting was raided by the NY State Police and the FBI, and it was such a large deal, FBI Director H. Edgar Hoover had to recognize, for the first time, the existence of the Mafia. There are those who believe that FBI field agents conducted the raid without headquarters participation or approval, to force Hoover's hand on the Mafia. (Up until that time, Hoover was interested in pursuing car thieves, bank robbers, and communists.) I thought of that raid when I read thus article. And one more thing - how did Dementia Jo pay for Nantucket even before he was a senator? He was poor, remember? And even on a senator's salary, he could not afford child care for his two little boys? What is wrong with that picture??

GWB used to go spend Thanksgiving at Camp David, which has it's own small dedicated full time security team, anti aircraft and anti missle protections so that his SS Detail, and ALL of his staff could spend the day with their Families, then go to the Crawford Ranch, which had similar facilities, remoteness and ease of protection. allowing many of those that worked for him to have a "Normal" holiday, not just for thanksgiving, but Christmas too. Biden's team spent the last week flying in hundreds of vehicles, military, police, multiple additional SS teams...diverted ships to the area, has a jet fighter air cap...blocking roads, controlling entry/access, traffic...FORTIFIED and militarized an entire Island town.

The U.S. government has paid out at least $548 million to informants working for the FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in recent years, multiple federal audits found as they slammed the agencies for wasteful spending. Among the questionable payments made to the informants include a parcel worker who was paid $1.4 million, an Amtrak employee who was paid nearly a $1 million and an airline worker who received $655,000. All three received those amounts from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Those three unidentified informants were all given the huge sums of cash between 2011 and 2015, with the subsequent audit condemning the intelligence gleaned
