The surprise victory of Republican Glenn Youngkin to become the next governor of Virginia shocked the political world earlier this month. Down double digits just months prior, Youngkin surged back into the race in the final weeks, eventually defeating heavily favored Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
Youngkin didn’t make his comeback by prioritizing the normal slate of GOP issues. Rather, he focused like a laser beam on the culture war surrounding leftwing school boards and the harm they are causing to children. That strategy led to big shifts in Loudoun County and other bluish, suburban areas, with the assumption being that Youngkin was a different kind of Republican.

I’m now wondering why terry the punk conceded so easily and relatively early.
But as the OP said, we’ll see.

Like Trump, Youngkin is new to politics. So he has doesn't really know who to pick to fill some of the positions available. His advisors however should have a better idea of who to pick for some of these positions. Remember Trump's first two years were filled with people some of whom he picked, and some his advisors picked. It turned into a revolving door with people leaving during that time for a variety of reasons. I suspect Youngkin will have the same problem. Politics are filled with mostly left wing people, and even if Youngkin turns into a REAL conservative, there will be people who work on his team who are not. It will take some time to weed out the leftists.

I was a voice crying in the wilderness of nowhere SoCal about RINOs dressed in Republican clothing. How depressing to read this headline about Youngkin.

After what our country has been (and is being) put through, it is difficult to not see stalking horses everywhere.

This seems like a premature article. Let's wait to see if any of this is verified.

Voters put him in, and they can also take him out. Youngkin best remember that little bit of reality. RINOS are not on the best of terms with voters at the moment.

Have to agree about newbies and left-wingers in Conservative masks. We won't know until it is too late. I don't think I can listen to another sermon on ''Forgiveness.'' I just listened to a preacher praying that the leaders in Washington learn to respect the people they lead. Oy.

Trump's fatal flaw, in my humble opinion, was/is his capacity for picking flawed, disloyal, and unqualified people to handle important positions. Omarosa, Scaramucci, Mattis, Tillerson, Cohen, Manafort (sp?), Rudy G., ....the list goes on. His Administration suffered as a result. He was poorly served when election time rolled around. I understand rookie mistakes. But we ain't in the mood, and voters will not suffer fools gladly at this point. Eyes are on you, Governor. Choose wisely. Don't screw this up.

I wonder if he is truly taking a leadership role is not telling each county what they have to do. State wide he will not mandate. Countywide if they mandate people will move across lines and their small economies will fail or the people will invite him in to chastise leadership then he can step in. Personally I’m all for non dictatorships.

Loudoun County is NOT bluish. It’s deep deep royal blue and has been for the last 15-20 years.

Youngkin is not off to a good start, having already made some RINOish comments/decisions. I’m not holding my breath. And, #10, Rudy Gulliani is neither “flawed, disloyal, [nor] disqualified.” I agree with some of the others you put on the list, but the truth is the fix was in from every angle, including the judicial branch, with the Nov. 3 election. No lawyer could’ve prevailed against the forces of evil that put that together..

Is Youngkin just another RINO? I sure hope not, but we'll see.
