Republican senators filibustered a major voting bill on Wednesday, blocking Democrats' plans to allow same-day voter registration and to make Election Day a holiday. It is the third time Democrats have tried to overhaul voting laws this year and the third time Republicans blocked them. The issue has become one of the key battle lines in American politics since then President Trump claimed he had been robbed of election victory last year by voter fraud. Vice President Kamala Harris was present for the vote and said Democrats would keep pushing for reform.'We’re not going to give up,' she said.

The voting laws need reform, but not the way Cameltoe wants it.

A holiday to vote is absurd. Most states allow voting 3-4 weeks in advance. Dems are probably already counting ballots for November 2022 elections.

I am happily surprised that the 19 RINO Republicommies didn’t vote to cut their own throats forever. But it isn’t dead yet, so the usual suspects still have time to be bought off…

As Dr Samuel Johnson once said.
Nothing focuses the mind than being executed in a fortnight.
Thus all the GOP is against this for that reason.
No way they are not gonna filibuster this.

Add to the lexicon of words that reverse their meaning when Dems use them: 'Reform'.

Gee, I'm getting to be an old coot.
I seem to recall that each State controls the elections in that State.
Of course, there is NOTHING that the 'Rats will not try to corrupt.

There will be the theater of fake opposition and the communofascists will get what they want its totally irrelevant and meaningless anyway since the extinction of the rule of law and election fraud is the foundation of Our Democracy this is just one of the last areas they are trying to keep up appearances And the repubs will play their part of being the Washington Generals

The only concession anyone needs is either come to work late, or leave work early (not both) on election day. There should only be ONE day for voting. Nobody has to travel very far for the privilege to vote.

I agree with #11. I have never understood why Tuesday has to be the day of the election. Make it on Saturday, like many other countries do.
One election day, absentee voting only with valid excuse, photo ID and all mail-in ballots (harvesting) banned everywhere. Do those things, and a large percentage of your fraud becomes impossible. You still have to address who counts the ballots, storage, recounts and chain of custody, but the mail in thing is the gold standard for fraud in 2020.
Machine voting and tabulations have to go as well. 2020 proved that they cannot be trusted because they are too easily manipulated.

When I was a kid living in New York State, Election Day was a holiday and the schools were used as polling places. You voted on that day only. Since everybody knew each other, there was no fraud. When I lived in Puerto Rico, elections were help on Sunday and you had to be in the pooling place on time. The door was locked and only the people inside could vote. They left by another door after casting their vote. No fraud either. We need to do something like this nation-wide while keeping mail in ballots for the military who can't get to the polls. Ex-pats have left the country and if they want to vote come home. No more shenanigan's.

Completely agree with #5 with one exception - absentee ballots for military and US embassy personnel serving overseas only. And no winner can be announced until ALL military ballots have been counted.

Used to be that serving and selling liquor on Election Day was banned. I'd go for that for the whole early voting period to actual Election Day.
Heh.

More important THAN ANYTHING ELSE is that ONLY American CITIZENS who are properly vetted to vote and who prove it through VOTER ID and who do not vote from an address that is something other than a residence is given a ballot.
To those who vote a PROVISIONAL ballot on election day, those votes are only counted upon ABSOLUTE PROOF of citizenship and residence as a US CITIZEN or naturalized citizen. Foreigners are not allowed to vote!
