‘We Just Don’t Know’ How to Defend
Against Possible Chinese Hypersonic Missile:
US Ambassador

A new investigative report by the Financial Times asserted that China launched a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile, which circled the earth in a low orbit before cruising toward and narrowly missing a test target. The Chinese regime has officially denied the report’s findings, saying that the object in question was a spaceship. U.S. disarmament ambassador Robert Wood said that Washington is concerned about China’s possible deployment of hypersonic weaponry, and said the United States hadn’t developed a means of countering it. “Hypersonic technology is something that we have been concerned about, the potential military applications of it and we have held back from pursuing, we had held back from pursuing military applications for

So tell the world that we don’t know what to do about it? The article tells us all about what makes a HGV so unique, and that the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) has been working on this for years. U.S. intelligence didn’t get the memo?

Ambassadors, especially under Dems, are often just some guy who contributed a bunch of money to the Dems to get himself into a position of power and to play 'big league games' and go to fancy parties in other countries. They don't have to have any knowledge or brains for the job these days. He probably has no idea what he's talking about. And, even if true, we'll know where it was launched from, and who to "thank" with a couple of dozen in response. Deterrence still has the same value.

Since "space" cannot be "owned" by any sovereign nation, and since the one and only purpose of a hypersonic missile is war, Joe Biden should just tell the Chinese that the US will shoot down the next one they send up and if they want to have a World War III, let it begin now and in "space." It's either that or we all start learning to speak Mandarin, and I took the first step by mastering the phrase "Ta ma de China," loosely translated as "Let's go, Brandon"!

Chinese hypersonic nukes are a non story. They use what is essentially an icbm to put the thing into low orbit. They could just as easily use that icbm to drop multiple larger nukes. None of which we could defend against. I hope the Chinese waste zillions building and maintaining this pointless weapon.

Assured destruction is the answer. The same as always in Nuclear wars. The only way to stop it is to ensure that whoever started it does not survive to brag on it. I believe we can do that.

A nuclear attack on the US by any country would bring an instant response from our nuclear armed submarines and surface ships. China would only be assuring its destruction. This missile is only a credible threat if there is no credible US counterattack. The whole point of M.A.D. is that there is always a credible, and massive, counterattack distributed over international waters.

We must have orbiting eyes to detect such a missile and track it. What could be missing is a connection between the tracking tech and a means to shoot such missiles down once we've spotted them.

The only sure way to defend against one of these things is a first strike, on the ground. Another way is to release clouds of tough ballons in the probable flight paths. Hypersonic glide vehicles must be built tough, but the equivalent of a bird strike will take something going that fast, down. Put enough gunk in the air, in its way, and it will never reach the target.

Poster 8, the reason i think they did this test at this time, is that they're almost ready to take Taiwan. Half of any tyrant's power is fear. "Surrender to us or be annihilated. " "If you try to stop us from 'reclaiming' Taiwan, we will annihilate you..." Hitler used this very successfully as he picked off little counties around Germany, in the run up to WWII.

To a certain extent, I think some of these UFO's that military personnel have spotted over the years are special craft designed by a skunk works type of department in the military, and they are testing how they operate against the most advanced aircraft in the world which just happens to be U.S. military aircraft. The pilots of these planes coming off an aircraft carrier wouldn't know anything about them.

Don't kid yourselves that a nuclear capable hypersonic missile is no different from an ICBM. The U.S. has been working on such a project since the late '80s. Maneuverability can be achieved outside of Earth's atmosphere by differential firing of rocket thrusters and within our atmosphere with aerodynamic control surfaces, similar to ailerons and rudders on conventional aircraft. Plus our hypersonic R&D has resulted in the development of Pulse Detonation Engines (PDE), a propulsion innovation that uses detonation waves to combust the fuel and oxidizer mixture, thought to be ideal for hypersonic flight. PDEs were conceived as far back as 1940 but the technology to make it operational was lacking until more recently. The ability to steer a nuclear weapon into the side of a mountain to disrupt deeply buried command and control facilities, like we have a Cheyenne Mountain, our NORAD operations center in Colorado, among other tactical and strategic uses, provides capability not found with ICBMs.
