California ports have hit another record, despite Biden's plan to extends their working hours in order to ease the backlog. According to data from the Marine Exchange, there were a total of 157 ships recorded in and around the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on Monday, matching a record that was reached for the first time in September. The total number of ships at anchor and in holding areas, waiting to dock and unload at the ports, also hit a fresh record on Monday as 100 vessels floated off the shore. 97 of these ships are container ships

The backlog continues to grow. Before the pandemic there were never more than 17 ships waiting to dock.

The government leadership we have in place cannot fix this. They are hapless and incompetent. Our Secretary of Transportation thinks the problem is that people are buying more stuff with stimulus checks. Nuff said. Go home to your babies. Lack of labor and impossible EPA standards for ships and trucks have brought the supply chain to a halt. And God forbid someone on a cargo ship tested positive for Covid. All of the above are due to Democrat policy.

The backup is due to California's law on truck emissions. Only newer trucks can enter the California ports which excludes a major portion of the trucking industry. Doesn't matter if the dock workers work 24/7 there aren't enough of the newer trucks eligible to enter the ports to haul off what is unloaded at the docks. When California goes all electric there will be even fewer trucks! Unless California issues a temporary moratorium on the emission standards for trucks nothing will change.

Not enough trucks because of two California laws. One restricts trucks by age for their foolish 'enviro' laws, and the other eliminates the freedom to be an independent contractor anywhere in the state. It's on California more than any other problems.

California passed Low emissions standards for trucks a few years so. Pets are only allowed to use more emissions vehicles to haul cargo. So because there is a shortage of lot emissions trucks we have a backlog. The low emissions trucks haul their cargo over state lines then a regular truck can take it from there. They knew this would happen.

The 24/7 schedule is just another lie by Team Xiden. Los Angeles and Long Beach appeared to be on regular schedules this weekend after Xiden stepped in to solve the problem and declared it fixed. In other words, they ignored Comrade Potato Head. Just as everyone else does.

Unless Premier Xiden overrides California's insane new restrictions on truck engines, he could open the docks 50 hours a day without making any difference in the backup. There just aren't enough long-haul trucks to transport the containers to their destinations. A shortage of drivers for those trucks may be a factor in the backlog, as well. And #8 shouldn't hold his breath -- the direction of plate movement will eventually make the coast of CA a neighbor to Alaska, not Mexico. (And the beaches of L.A. will move next to S.F. long beforehand.)

It's not going to matter if the docks work 24/7. They'll just be piling items up or stuffing overstuffed warehouses with goods. California laws regarding the environment (i.e. no trucks over 3 years old or retro fitted with filters, etc.) and special interests (i.e. the limitation of independent contractors - a wet kiss to the unions (teamsters) eliminating owner operators) has severely damaged trucking there. No trucks and everything just piles up.

LOS ANGELES - Southern California's Los Angeles and Long Beach ports handle the most ocean cargo of any ports in the United States, but are some of the least efficient in the world, according to a ranking by the World Bank and IHS Markit. In a review of 351 container ports around the globe, Los Angeles was ranked 328, behind Tanzania's Dar es Salaam and Alaska's Dutch Harbor. The adjacent port of Long Beach came in even lower, at 333, behind Turkey's Nemrut Bay and Kenya's Mombasa, the groups said in their inaugural Container Port Performance Index published in May. The

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Gov. Phil Scott is asking residents to take personal responsibility to help reduce a continuing spike in active COVID-19 infections, a surprise given Vermont's position as the nation's most-vaccinated state. Vermont has seen 921 new infections and four new deaths over the last four days. Scott said the cycle of the delta variant of the virus, which arrived later in Vermont than in southern states, may explain part of the stubborn surge in active cases. Scott said he hopes cases wane in a week or two. In the meantime, Scott is again asking residents to get a booster
