Would Sticking to Trump’s Afghan Withdrawal
Timeline Have Mitigated Disaster?

When President Joe Biden delayed the Afghanistan withdrawal timeline from May to September, some observers were left scratching their heads. After all, it’s well documented that summertime is traditionally the peak fighting season in Afghanistan. According to a study from the Small Wars Journal, this trend exists for two main reasons. The first and most obvious factor is that harsh Afghan winters make travel challenging. (snip) Second, many Afghan fighting forces fund their efforts via harvesting opium poppy. Once this cultivation finishes in early spring/late winter, fighting increases, (snip) Rep. James Langevin (D-R.I.) asked Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin about this issue last week during the House Armed Services Committee’s (HASC) hearing

Since President Trump's withdrawal timeline depended on the tollybahn's behavior and not dates set in concrete, of course it would have.

Biden dilly dallied and dithered away four months, bragging about how great it was gonna be, then tried to do it all in a week.. Same as the Spending Debacle occurring right now in DC.

I think that nearly everyone agrees that eventually the Taliban would have taken over all of Afghanistan after the US withdrawal. The difference is Trump had negotiated to buy us time to evacuate our citizens and allies in a timely, safe manner. Biden scrapped this plan (claiming there was no plan) and tried to take all credit / glory for ending the war. Biden's misguided fantasy version of the US withdrawal which ignored the clear advancement of the Taliban on Kabul, was a recipe for disaster. US soldiers died needlessly and hundreds, now probably thousands of Afghan allies have also died tortured deaths at the hands of the Taliban terrorists. Our abandoned citizens and allies deserved better. Trump would have not abandoned them, Biden just ignores them and will not acknowledge their existence.

The only thing that would have mitigated the Afghan disaster was wiping out the Taliban before we left. We should never have opened diplomatic channels with them. We should have bombed them out of existence. They were terrorists, not a governing body. That's the only way we ever get free of Afghanistan. This was a war the USA need to prosecute. Not some Afghan proxy. it was our war, and nobody else. We stopped treating it like a war, and the results are obvious to everyone. Want to know why every previous President kicked it down the road? They did not have the will to wipe out the Taliban, and recognized what would happen if they withdrew. Along came a stupid dishonest fool by the name of Biden who doesn't care about anything other than what its worth to him, and he pulled the trigger.

President Trump's proposed withdrawal plan & timeline were well thought out, and took into account several very important factors: 1. Threat: The very real threat/promise of massive round the clock retaliatory B-52 airstrikes on the Taliban's homes and families, and defoliation of their poppy and marijuana fields by a President they knew meant business. 2. History: Pashtun behavior dates back hundreds, if not thousands of years. The pullout was to take place after the end of the fighting season, which historically runs from April through October. After the fighting season the Taliban return to their valleys and farms in the lawless border region. 3. The Afghan Army: The plan took into account the Afghan Army's historical lack of effectiveness the day of, or after, payday when the Afghan simply melts away.
