California now has nation’s lowest virus
transmission rate

Original Article

LOS ANGELES — California has the lowest coronavirus transmission rate of any state following a sharp decline in cases and hospitalizations after a summer surge. The nation’s most populous state is the only one experiencing “substantial” coronavirus transmission, the second-highest level on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s color-coded map. So is Puerto Rico. In all other U.S. states, virus transmission is labeled as “high,” defined as 100 or more cases per 100,000 people in the last week. California’s rate is 94 cases per 100,000. By comparison, Texas is 386 and Florida is 296.

Comments:

Our local paper in Los Angeles County has had headlines reporting fewer and fewer cases and hospitalizations for the last three weeks or so. And we ask “what is a case?” - a sick person or simply a positive swab?

Another completely worthless statistic. Define 'transmission rate' in any way that isn't designed to favor forced vaccinations.

At this point, believing any nebulous news article like this about this Dem-panic is a sucker bet. I'll wait for some more difficult to fake info or trends develop. The whole line of discussion is polluted with falsehoods like "case" versus an actually sick person, and "hospitalized" where a person is in for hernia surgery and the bogus test tells them that the person has a positive test, so that's a "hospitalized Wuhan flu case", but it isn't because the person isn't showing any symptoms. So many, many different ways to provide false and misleading info, and the deck so stacked to report info which is intentionally misleading. It's not as if everyone was honest and had our best interests at heart, not at all.

If this is indeed true, we must note that this was achieved during the period the governor, fearful for his job, virtually left us all the heck alone. There were no statewide mandates in effect. My county, for example, has been wide open for months. It's almost as though the best approach is to let the virus run its course. But now that Grusom's safe to mandate for another day, you can expect restrictions to creep back in. Check with us again in a few months.

The state of Florida has obtained thousands of monoclonal antibody treatments to treat COVID-19 from a UK-based company after the Biden administration’s abrupt rationing of federally acquired doses. Florida went to GlaxoSmithKline, which produces monoclonals that haven’t yet been bought up by the federal government. They reached an agreement on about 3,000 doses, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Sept. 23. “That’s showing that we’re going to leave no stone unturned. And, if there’s somebody that needs a monoclonal antibody treatment, we’re going to work hard to get it to them,” the Republican told a press conference in Tampa.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan figures prominently in a grand jury investigation run by Special Counsel John Durham into an alleged 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign scheme to use both the FBI and CIA to tar Donald Trump as a colluder with Russia, according to people familiar with the criminal probe, which they say has broadened into a conspiracy case. Sullivan is facing scrutiny, sources say, over potentially false statements he made about his involvement in the effort, which continued after the election and into 2017. As a senior foreign policy adviser to Clinton, Sullivan spearheaded what was known inside her campaign as a “confidential project” to link Trump

At the Sept. 21 Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on counterterrorism, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas touted a raft of new programs aimed at combating domestic extremism—many of which are raising red flags among interest groups across the political spectrum. The new DHS plans follow a March 2021 intelligence community report that deems white supremacy and violent domestic extremism as the most dangerous terrorism threat to the homeland. Mayorkas made similar statements at the Sept. 21 hearing. “Today, U.S.-based lone actors and small groups, including homegrown violent extremists and domestic violent extremists—who are inspired by a broad range of ideological motivations—pose the most significant and persistent terrorism-related threat to our country,” Mayorkas said.

The antiviral remdesivir treatment reduced the risk of hospitalization among COVID-19 patients when administered soon after they were diagnosed, according to a new study. Researchers found that remdesivir cut hospitalization risk by 87 percent compared to a placebo that half of the study participants received. Some 562 patients, all deemed at high-risk from COVID-19, were enrolled in the trial. Gilead Sciences, which conducted the Phase 3 randomized, double-blind trial, stopped enrollment in April because the company struggled to find enough participants. But it continued to follow those who had enrolled, half of whom were given a placebo.

Biden faces dismal job approval ratings in several battleground states, including Michigan, Virginia, and Iowa, where the president garnered the lowest score since George W.
