ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Court documents show former lawmaker and Albuquerque Public School employee, Sheryl Williams Stapleton, has been indicted by a grand jury. Documents show Stapleton has been indicted on 28 criminal charges, including money laundering and racketeering. The former New Mexico House majority leader is accused of using her position as a powerful lawmaker and APS employee to funnel money to her personal and business bank accounts. She is at the center of a criminal investigation by both state and federal authorities. Her lawyer Ahmad Assed says if Williams Stapleton made any mistakes, they were not crimes.

Comments:

She'll claim that the prosecution is racially motivated and get off.

How odd. Not a single mention of her political party affiliation. I'm going out on a limb here and say she's more likely a democrat because if she was a Republican the headline would have said. Republican Sheryl Stapleton indicted... Right?

FTA: "The former New Mexico House majority leader is accused of using her position as a powerful lawmaker and APS employee to funnel money to her personal and business bank accounts". As any democrat lawyer, shill, media idiot and assorted slobbering democrat voters can attest - it is only illegal, and then only briefly illegal, if you get caught. It is what democrats and rinos aspire to.

Republicans haven't had the majority in the state House of Representatives since forever. Eighty years of democrat single party rule is the reason that NM is in a neck and neck race to the bottom with Mississippi.

Are we now saying that self-dealing, money laundering and other nefarious activities are somehow wrong? Public Service is really a great hob if she gets away with all if this. I expect plea bargains to make the charges disappear as “mistake” and nothing more. Prosecuting crimes is racist harassment, doncha know.

Democrats find school districts are a very, very profitable racket to line their pockets, send contacts to supporters, and dole out patronage jobs. There was an area I used to visit for work on a regular basis and there always was at least one or two school boards whose members were getting indicted for some graft. I think there was one where the "reformers" kicked out the then-in-charge crooks on one school board. And two or three years later, they were getting indicted for the same graft and corruption of their predecessors.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. Around the globe, cancer incidence has been steadily increasing over the past half-century. The question I have asked myself and many others most often over the past decade is, with all this technology, the artificial intelligence, the autonomous cars, the drones, how have we not cracked cancer? Well, there are of course many answers, the first of which is that there is no such thing as “cracking cancer.” We call it cancer, but every cancer is of course different and needs a different type of cure.

A new analysis of President Joe Biden’s downward-trending approval ratings finds that his Democratic Party could hemorrhage as many as 41 seats in the House during next year’s midterm elections, or close to as many as then-President Donald Trump’s GOP lost in 2018.Glen Bolger of Public Opinion Strategies told the Washington Examiner that it is not difficult to tie presidential polling to election outcomes and because Biden’s approval rating continues to decline, he believes the president’s party will lose close to the 41 seats lost during Trump’s midterm, or 34 more than the GOP needs to regain control of the chamber. This, before states have even redrawn their congressional districts

Embattled Rep. Liz Cheney is betting on figures from the fading Republican establishment to help her win re-election — setting up a clash between two GOP former presidents. Cheney (R-Wyo.), who has been sidelined by House Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy for voting to impeach President Donald Trump, has invited President George W. Bush to hold a fundraiser for her next month in Dallas, the Wall Street Journal reported. Trump is backing her challenger Harriet Hageman in the 2022 Republican primary for Wyoming’s sole House seat.

Scientists have created the ultimate GM crop: contraceptive corn. Waiving fields of maize may one day save the world from overpopulation. The pregnancy prevention plants are the handiwork of the San Diego biotechnology company Epicyte, where researchers have discovered a rare class of human antibodies that attack sperm. By isolating the genes that regulate the manufacture of these antibodies, and by putting them in corn plants, the company has created tiny horticultural factories that make contraceptives. 'We have a hothouse filled with corn plants that make anti-sperm antibodies,' said Epicyte president Mitch Hein.
