In May, there was renewed violence at the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. Even though I am Jewish, this would not especially concern me any more than the many other awful things going on 4,000 miles away from London, where I live. This may confuse some who think that Jews and Israel are basically the same thing. They aren’t, and to assume so is racist. The conversation around the Middle East and antisemitism has changed of late, and disturbingly so. During the conflict, I saw a placard at a Free Palestine march in London. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced a visit Monday to Del Rio, Texas, where a camp of thousands of illegal immigrants has sprung up, puncturing the Biden administration’s claims of border security.
His visit comes as his department announced a series of get-tough steps, including promises of faster deportations, to try to clear out the throng of mostly Haitian immigrants who crossed the Rio Grande and established the beachhead in the U.S.
In an unsigned statement over the weekend, the department also said it was negotiating with other countries where the Haitians last lived to try to get them to take back the new arrivals.
The Justice for J6 Rally focused on bringing awareness to several Trump supporters who are still sitting in prison for trespassing into the Capitol building on January 6th. The J6 Rally brought in roughly close to 200 people and members of the media, along with police officers outnumbering the demonstrators by a large amount.
Many notable conservative voices urged people not to attend the J6 Rally because they believed it was a FBI sting. Well, it appears their gut feeling was right.
