That’s quite a cultural shift — and it will likely lead to a political shift as well, and not in favor of the current administration. Women accounted for almost half of all new gun owners in a 27-month period that includes the pandemic as well as the Democratic presidential primary run-up, according to a new study by researchers from Harvard and Northeastern. Clearly, the gun-control rhetoric of the campaign and in the Biden administration has not had its intended impact:
Close to half of all new U.S. gun buyers since the beginning of 2019 have been women, a shift for a market
Good for them, and for the Second Amendment. Women have realized that they must protect themselves; the police are not going to be there to do it. The more people we get to exercise their right to self-defense, the better we are as a society.

LOL! This firearms instructor didn't need any sort of a poll to know that this was true. I've taught a bunch of girls and women to shoot.
Frankly, they are often as good or better students than men, often not bringing anything to unlearn that they got from TV or some family member who didn't know beans about the topic and taught wrong stuff. And many women pay better attention, frequently winding up being very good shots in less time. You have to deal with smaller and usually weaker hands and arms with female students, and this limits handgun selection sometimes, but many are good with big guns like Colt 1911 .45s.
I have had several well heeled women students go out and purchase a new high end 1911 .45 ACP as their primary gun after shooting a wide range of different guns and calibers. We are talking well north of $1000, one was nearly $2000. A really nice gun.
Samuel Colt really did equalize "men"...and women, too. A trained woman with a gun can stand up to a violent man very effectively. And that's why most women are buying guns, for self defense.
The NOW witches talk about 'enabling women', just noise. I have really enabled a bunch of women over the years. The most recent, a niece.
Any women thinking about the topic, I recommend Paxton Quigley's book Armed and Female. I was once invited to be an assistant instructor for a two day course that Ms. Quigley taught at our local range for only women students.

I temporarily forgot the NOW term, it was "empowering women". A gun in the hand REALLY empowers a woman.

A thug in a parking lot would be making a poor choice to approach a southern woman, whose hand is down in her big purse. Word to the unwise.

Glad to to see the gun control narrative backfiring. Antifa and BLM have surely done their share to promote gun ownership.
Pennsylvania alone has almost 1 million citizens with hunting licenses, and that number does not include non-hunting gun owners. Australians surrendered their guns, and now they are surrendering their freedom.

To assimilate into my wife's family I had to endure eating strange things that came out of the ocean and all 98 lbs of her had to demonstrate a level of proficiency with the 03 Springfield.
Keep in mind that women are playing catchup. What we are seeing I suspect is a shift in demand from a sport to defense at least in relative proportions to one another.
Those who would disarm us would turn the advantage to the physically dominant which doesn't work like it does on TV and in the movies. Except for that Kung Foo guy I'm sure that stuff works.

My in-laws are training 13 y/o daughter to properly handle a weapon. A few more years before she can ''own'' one.

Many interesting facts contained herein, including the doubling of gun sales during the O'Bozo years. Democrats will not win the 2nd Amendment battle now that they are so badly outgunned.

I use to attend plenty of gun shows I am not a collector of modern firearms (black guns) the scourge of the left. Antique Colts, Winchesters, S&Ws and other assorted western collectibles. I own only hunting hi-powered rifles along with a few modern auto loading handguns. My only disagreement is letting a youngster handle and shoot large caliber handguns and rifles I hate to see people attending gun shows with very young children be wise about letting a child grow up and not teach them shooting skills until their late teens. I don't believe their minds are developed enough to make a decision about 'deadly force'. I see many stupid men at gun shows who probably watch too much TV and should just take up golfing instead.
The military is a very fine teacher if one desires to learn firearm usage not the television. Something had to swing the pendulum after liberal democrat cities canceled the police opting for chaos in the streets and runaway crime.
This headline warmed my heart on this day. Good luck ladies and happy shooting just remember ammo is scarce and expensive so hit the target on the first shot and don't give warning shots.

I hate to brag...but...well I really enjoy bragging...I'm a better shot than my ex-husband...and he was a cop...my concealed carry is a great comfort to me...especially during this biden/obama reign ...my snub with ankle holster is safe and easily excessible...and in keeping with my feminine thinking...colored "pink"... it's so sweet...I have several daughters and they have taken to carrying...as well...so...this report is accurate...speaking on a personal level...

Since the Covid lockdowns and the attendant disruptions of the American way of life, crime is once again increasing as law enforcement, under attack everywhere, is shrinking in numbers. A friend in Florida law enforcement, noting my age and smaller than average size, told me I represent an ideal victim to an opportunistic armed robber. A woman, likely smaller than I, would be an even more inviting target. How does one make a carjacker or armed robber's (or several of them) work more hazardous? With a firearm, of course.
During Hitler's invasion of the USSR in World War II, the Soviets fought back with everything they had, including a lot of female snipers whose control of their Mosin Nagant rifles was world class. In competitive shooting today there are plenty of women among the championship class shooters, with more becoming qualified every day. Armed assailants get to choose the time of the attack; the potential victims have to be alert and well trained in order to increase their chances of having a positive outcome in an attack. There are a lot of evil people out there, looking for victims. Turn the tables on them. Send them home in a box. It's quite a shock to the original gangster when he attempts a score and winds up a two dimensional statistic. You pays your money, and you takes your chances. Armed criminals running free after being released by Soros DAs (and the like) is why law abiding citizens are arming themselves.
Of course, Xiden just signed an UN treaty seeking to create an international gun registry so the blue coats can come around and pick up Americans' guns after the Democrats and RINOs give up our sovereignty to the UN. Come. Take.

Way back in the early 70's my then husband taught me to shoot because I was scared of guns, never having been around them. Since then I have always had some type of gun. My son-in-law teaches firearms safety as well and will agree with the number of women getting firearms. Even my liberal daughter has several :) With the push to get rid of the police departments, women don't feel safe. I know I don't. Iowa just became a constitutional carry state and that makes me very happy.

If you watch Forensic Files, you will notice that a lot of women are preyed upon. They should all open carry.

The issue with open carry is that you give up the advantage of surprise. There might be some deterrent value, but many big, tough streetwise thugs would likely decide that taking an openly carried gun away from a person would be a nice challenge, and net them a free gun.
I strongly support the concept of open carry, but I only carry concealed for tactical reasons.

Took my lady to the range last weekend so she could try a wide range of handguns. She decided on a S&W .38 Special +P with a laser sight for carrying, and for the night stand she surprised me by favoring a 1911A1 .45 so now I know what I will be getting her for Christmas.

If your budget can stand it, #16, I recommend a Dan Wesson 1911.
If the budget would be too unhappy with the $1300-1800 price tag, as most would, the Ruger SR1911s are solidly made, sensibly put together good examples of the breed, IMO. I own several examples of each, so this isn't just theory, but personal experience.
The Dan Wessons are the equal of custom guns twice or three times their price. I won't own a fine $4,500 Ed Brown custom 1911, but a fine DW is within reach for many more.
