Democrats on Thursday are panicking over the impending debt default and shutdown of the federal government with no backup plan in sight.
“I don’t know what the plan B is… Plan B is to have Republicans step up and be responsible,” Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) told the Hill, blaming Republicans for government disfunction while Democrats control Congress and the Executive branch.
“So then what’s the plan?” Sen. Jon Tester (D-MO) told the publication. “We’ve got to pay our bills,” he added. “This is asinine… People need to remove their heads from their lower extremities.”
As of next Friday, federal agencies must discontinue all non-essential discretionary functions, which leave Democrats panicking
The plan is to stop you from pissing away another 3.5T dollars. It has NOTHING to do with paying bills, and you all know it.

What EXACTLY would have to be shut down? "Non-essential Discretionary spending"..Welp, there ya go. Nothing of any importance if it's 'nonessential', and you already have the "discretion' to spend or not spend on it anyway. Frankly nothing "Non-Essential" should be having any money spent on it anyway, I know it doesn't happen around MY "house". his is like the spoiled kid away at college who fritters away Dad's largess on frivolities then demands Dad put more money into their debit acct or I may flunk out, "Yo kid, your grades already SUCK, and likely because you are focused on things OTHER than what you are there to do in first place, maybe you need a semester or two WORKING in the Private sector so that you can learn how the REAL world works"

Democrats decide to follow Pelosi and Schumer down the cliff and expect Republicans to do the same.

LOL. Their phony-baloney "non-essential" jobs will go away. Boo, hoo. Tell that to the shopkeepers that once had businesses on Main Street. Less government for us. What's not to like?

They will never consider cutting spending like they are drunk on power because they are.

And folks like me, and the little company I’m part of get furloughed. But guess what, we still have to meet contract deadlines imposed upon us by the Fed’s…

I would be happy if all agencies ceased discretionary work. Do what is necessary, do it well.

Somewhere I heard that some wise acre in the Biden White House was thinking of having the Treasury mint a billion or trillion dollar coin that could be used to cover the deficit.

It appears Senator Tester needs to take a basic anatomy course and learn what an extremity is.

What purpose does the debt ceiling serve if it is always increased or suspended when Congress comes close to reaching it?
Those in Congress must leave the ceiling unchanged and do the hard work of prioritizing spending such that only the highest priority gets funded. That is their job but they refuse to address the unaffordable spending that they create.

There is no debt limit. Tax, tax, tax. Spend, spend, spend. Elect, elect, elect.
Dems will always spend. No limits. It is someone else's money, after all, If they had to spend the money, forget it.
But when they can spend out of someone else's pocket, SPEND.
And don't forget 10% for the big guy.

If they can identify the "non-essential discretionary spending", why don't they just get rid of it?!?!?!?!?
I know if I were suddenly very deep in debt, we wouldn't have cable, eat out 2 or 3 times a week, go on nice vacations, buy a new boat, or any other "non-essential discretionary spending" until we were no longer in debt. Why can't the government do that?!?!?!?!?

Actually, it will be great if they shut down the people doing harm to us. Make it permanent. I can live just fine if the feds NEVER did anything else to me for the rest of my life. SS and Medicare....PLEASE take them away, if I can get my freedom back.

How about starting with asking every department to submit a plan to save 1% of their budget by employing improved efficiencies, and with travel not as necessary, they should be able to slash that travel budget to easily make up that amount if not more.
And, if the budget is 4.5 trillion, you'd have 45 billion savings alone.
Just think they still want 1.2 trillion and another 3.5 trillion just for their new spending, not the normal budget which runs annual deficits each year.

Democrats remind me of people who need to pay their bills so they call their credit card companies and get their credit limits raised. When those cards are maxed out, they get new credit cards and go buy more stuff until those cards are maxed out. They just keep spending and spending. Before they know it, they have so many credit cards, they can barely make the minimum payments, only pay the interest, and are puzzled as to how they got in this position. Then, they get their income tax return. Instead of paying off debt, they go on an expensive vacation (using their credit of course) thinking they will pay it off, but spend all of the money on the trip, new I-phones, TVs, $300 Air Jordans, and all kinds of other stuff that they "need" because they deserve it. THe cycle goes on and on and on. They never get out of debt. They never learn, they just spend.

The Republicans will cave. If they don't, they'll get blamed for the shutdown and THEN they'll cave.

Step 1, stop digging.
I suggest we start by eliminating the Department of Education and Department of Labor, and cutting back by at least 50% the FBI, NSA, EPA, and DOD.
And then we'll cut more later.

Let’s see. The Democrats control the House and with Kackling Kamala have the Senate. So what’s stopping you cowardly rats from raising the debt ceiling? They just want to hide behind the “bipartisan petticoat” … and I have no doubt that severe pressure is being applied to the usual Rinos.

The answer you fool, is to not have so many bills...stop funding terrorists, stop sending our money to countries that hate us and our way of life, stop using our tax money to buy votes, stop funding the murder of the unborn...hows that for starters...
