A “career con artist” in Chicago stole the identities of young homicide victims to collect thousands of dollars in tax refunds and COVID-19 stimulus payments, federal prosecutors allege. Katrina Pierce, 50, was charged with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in a 34-page complaint made public Thursday. Prosecutors claim her fraud scheme was first discovered in late 2019 by the Cook County Vital Records Bureau, which noticed Pierce had requested four death certificates in one day while claiming to be the sister of each victim, despite them having different surnames. A subsequent records check revealed that Pierce had requested 37 death certificates in 2019,

Everyone knows by now that a forthcoming Bob Woodward book alleges that General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), may have committed sedition during the Trump years. According to Woodward, Milley contacted the top Chinese general and assured him that everything was under control in spite of the eccentric Trump, that he (Milley) wouldn’t let Trump get us into war with China, and that he’d call them (the Chinese) if Trump were planning on that so there wouldn’t “be any surprises.”

During your show on 8 September 2021, you commented on the shortage of ICU beds, saying “Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right on in, we’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.” I take issue with your commentary for three primary reasons: 1) the comments appear to be racially discriminatory, 2) the comments are not founded in science and serve to further divide a country that, unfortunately, is taking medical advice from too many non-physicians, and 3) the suggestion that doctors should selectively treat patients is unethical.

A minor earthquake shook the City of Angels on Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The agency reported a magnitude of 4.3 on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale with an epicenter in Carson, Calif., which is Los Angeles County.
The 15-second-long temblor caused a Marathon Petroleum refinery to lose power and resort to dramatic flaring, scaring locals, the Los Angeles Times reported.
There are about five quakes per year that rank between 4.0 and 5.0 on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, the paper said.
There were no immediate reported of injuries or damage, the Associated Press reported.
