Virginia schools should not conduct social
experiments with our children

Over the past year, perhaps no group has felt a greater impact from coronavirus lockdowns than our nation’s schoolchildren. In many ways, the widespread school shutdowns resembled a cruel social experiment with predictably disastrous results: plunging grades, rising mental health issues and, most distressingly, a surge in suicide attempts. But after the horror that was the 2020 to 2021 school year, a recent edict by the Virginia Department of Education promises to impose even more radical changes that could soon make the commonwealth’s public schools unrecognizable.

On a positive basis, the people who operate private primary and secondary schools, as well as the students enrolled in these educational institutions will greatly benefit from the liberal mandates of the woke public education czars.

The idiots r in charge. I have seen this on the small scale of chemical manufacturing facilities. These controllers will screw everything up. They have no intelect to backup there so called solutions. If I had children I would just say no. Their public school days would be over and recess would be with any kid we could find in the neighborhood swapping germs. Kids have been disease carrying vermin for ever; why stop it now.

Make absolutely no mistake, this is not an experiment. It has never been an experiment. It's part of the plan.

I believe that Leftists/Marxists at their core fear life, reject personal liberty and responsibility, and feel that trust is a fool's currency. Maybe that comes from rejecting God, I don't know. I'm kind of agnostic myself, but I respect (and sometime envy) peoples' faith, and definitely their rights and liberties. The Leftist has a deeply insecure profile that craves insurance, order, control, power, standardization, humanism with no humanity or humor, knowledge and science with no perspective... and demands that they call the shots. That is both the totalitarian instinct that pushes them to power, and also the poison pill that makes their cause always self-destruct from infighting. The disorder and unpredictability of ordinary life, with its fuzzy footpaths and uncertain results, absolutely drives them nuts with anxiety. To them, the trappings of institutions, laws, traditions and rituals, which we follow by collective consent in our daily lives to keep the social fabric together, are more than routine but respected guideposts - they are an obsession, a weapon, a God-substitute for them to use in their panicked attempt to subdue a scary reality. These are angry, invasive, authoritative people, who are not worthy of, and can cause serious damage in, the positions of significant power we have allowed them to assume. They are the LAST people who should be trusted with molding the minds and morals, and guiding the experiences, of our young people, in the absence of careful and prescriptive oversight by parents and respected social leaders. Parents and families must wake up to the dangers posed by these influences in the lives of our children and the hope for our future.

Next year, our nation will celebrate 75 years since Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier. But three-quarters of a century after Robinson helped sports transcend racism, a new group of activists wants to ensure that future generations of ballplayers remain fixated on race. As a Virginia resident and parent of two young children, I find attempts to indoctrinate Little League coaches on critical race theory not only troubling but also extremely harmful.

President Biden Zoomed with world leaders last week to announce his plan to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. Unfortunately, his proposal will almost certainly have the opposite effect by transferring relatively clean U.S. energy production to dirty producers overseas. As children, we learn that objects continue to exist even when they can’t be seen. Energy production is no exception. By canceling American projects, resource extraction and jobs are shifting to environmentally damaging operations in Russia, China and elsewhere.

Many Christians are feeling frustrated with the Biden administration. A recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal points to how Joe Biden’s flip-flop on refugees is frustrating evangelicals who foolishly voted for him last November. As the Journal contributor noted, they have a reason to feel betrayed.  Believers who care about values, life, and religious liberty continue to find that the new administration has let them down time and time again. While Biden may attend Mass regularly, many of his policy positions raise questions of how diligently he practices his Catholic faith outside the four walls of his church. CORRECTIONS*

Last week, legal accountability group Judicial Watch dropped a bombshell: a nearly 600-page report proving the U.S. government has been buying and trafficking “fresh” aborted baby body parts. These body parts, purchased by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to “humanize” mice and test biologic drugs in scientific experiments, came from babies up to 24-weeks-old gestation, just weeks from being born.

President Joe Biden last week proposed $400 billion in new federal spending on home- and community-based services for seniors and individuals with disabilities as part of a $2 trillion infrastructure package. While these provisions might at first glance seem out of place with a topic normally associated with roads and bridges, the proposal fits with the broader themes of Biden's plan. As with the overall package, Biden's home-based care proposal begins with a good idea but points it in the wrong policy direction, using it as an excuse to expand government rather than tackling important structural reforms.

With the turbulence of our current politics, it should come as no surprise that many Christians are looking for such height when it comes to political issues. Unfortunately, many are finding themselves in cul-de-sacs of confusion. The most recent evidence is the debate sparked over so-called "Christian nationalism," which, from the perspective of evangelical elites, is the bane of all Christian witness in the public square.

As two women who have spent our careers in and around politics, we commemorate the role that women from Abigail Adams to Susan B. But when it comes to a resolution the House will soon consider regarding the Equal Rights Amendment, we object to both its unconstitutional process and its harmful, anti-women policies.

Are the ranks of the U.S. military riddled with white supremacists? CNN thinks so, and won’t let the facts get in the way of this compelling narrative. CNN makes its case in a story headlined, “Disproportionate number of current and former military personnel arrested in Capitol attack, CNN analysis shows.” This is both factually untrue and downright libelous. It dishonors the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces.

As millions of Americans nationwide patiently wait for access to the coronavirus vaccine, why would lawmakers enact a bill to reduce the availability of lifesaving treatments? Those effects would likely result from legislation the Maryland House of Delegates will soon vote on. President Joe Biden is weighing vaccines mandates for interstate travel, according to the Associated Press (AP) on Thursday. “Still, while more severe [coronavirus] measures — such as mandating vaccines for interstate travel or changing how the federal government reimburses treatment for those who are unvaccinated and become ill with COVID-19 — have been discussed,” the AP writes, “the administration worried that they would be too polarizing for the moment.” For the time being, the White House seems content with shaming those who are unvaccinated, while demanding private companies mandate vaccinations for their employees. For instance, Biden told churchgoers April 1, they were being ungodly if they did not become vaccinated.

Suggested “gender-inclusive terms” for “breastfeeding” include “chestfeeding, lactating,
