Shock poll: Newsom might lose the recall

I want to believe. The Los Angeles Times and a new poll from UC Berkeley (!) have me questioning my skepticism over the potential for success in November’s recall of Gavin Newsom. In a reversal of Newsom’s previous momentum, California voters split into a virtual tie on jettisoning their governor (via Twitchy): Californians who say they expect to vote in the September recall election are almost evenly divided over whether to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom from office, evidence of how pivotal voter turnout will be in deciding the governor’s political fate, according to a new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times.

If California can be saved, Larry Elder has a better chance than most at leading the turnaround. He will be limited by the crazy-left legislature of course.

Don't get your hopes up. The Demon-Rats absolutely mastered the art of election theft this past November. If it gets even close, all they have to do is kick on their election theft team, and Newsom wins by 20% points.

I strongly believe that there are many, many recall-supporting voters who are not giving the pollsters true answers. But will they be enough to counter the vote-stuffers?

Actually Gov. Nuisance has already got most of the populaces under mask orders, through his health minions in the populous counties. He's blaming the rise in "cases" due to those rascally anti-vaxxers, but it's really due to all the covid-infected illegals surging in. The hospitals are still empty in most places. But the fires are still burning, as are the homeless encampments, and there are persistent rumors of Nuisance wanting to implement a statewide lockdown. All pretty strong political headwinds. And today he had to pull his kids out of summer camp for not wearing masks (see "Newsom yanks his children from summer camp after maskless photos appear on social media" post here on Lucianne).

The polls say what the Democrat Party wants them to say. There is the occasional outlier, but generally the polls are in favor of Newsom. Defeat Newsom? Can't be done because the Democrat Communist Party has learned how to steal elections with impunity. The media and courts are a failsafe backup. Sorry to crush your hopes, folks.

Begin with one simple fact: The Delta variant of COVID-19 is more contagious than the original virus, but it is not more dangerous or likely to kill you. If you are vaccinated and are exposed to it, you may get infected. This infection is likely to be mild; occasionally vaccinated people get sick. These symptoms are usually mild, manageable, and pass within a day or two. The first case of the Delta variant — previously referred to as “the Indian variant” — in the U.S. was diagnosed at the end of March. Our active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have declined since that date, although the daily number
Texas Gov. Abbott: No More Masks — ‘Now

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has reacted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation that, among other things, vaccinated people should still wear masks in high-infection areas by reaffirming no mask mandates will be in place in the state. “The time for government mask mandates is over—now is the time for personal responsibility,” Abbott posted on Twitter on Tuesday. “In May, I signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates by gov’t entities.” “Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask or have their children wear masks,” Abbott tweeted.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) threw a wrench into Democrats’ plan to slip amnesty for millions of illegal aliens into a federal spending package that would bypass a filibuster and only need a simple majority in the United States Senate. On Wednesday, Sinema announced that she opposes a $3.5 trillion budget — which includes an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens — and thus the Senate Democrats do not have the 50 votes necessary to pass the spending package. Democrats, for months, had hoped to slip the amnesty past Congress without facing opposition from Senate Republicans

Gov. Greg Abbott is apparently throwing caution to the wind with his latest move to curb illegal immigration in his home state of Texas. Today, Abbott announced that enforcement agencies under his control, specifically the National Guard, will now begin arresting illegal immigrants crossing the border. This came on the heels of news that nearly 90% of the 50,000 illegal immigrants released by the Biden administration without a court date have even bothered to check in as required. Abbott seemingly gets more based by the day. “Beginning on May 31, 2021, I have issued multiple proclamations certifying under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code that the surge of individuals unlawfully

The Senate voted 67–32 to advance a roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure proposal on Wednesday night. The vote comes one month after negotiators initially said they had reached a deal on infrastructure. A bipartisan group of ten senators and the White House then spent weeks finalizing the details of the proposal. The 17 Republican senators who voted to move the bill to formal debate included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Senators Richard Burr (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Shelley Moore Capito (W. Va.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Mitt Romney (Utah), Thom Tillis (N.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Todd Young (Ind.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Roy Blunt (Mo.),

Travel during the Covid-19 pandemic has created a bureaucratic mess, especially for those who venture outside the country. It’s now routine overseas for unvaccinated individuals to have to jump through more hoops and restrictions than vaccinated travelers do. A growing number of countries around the world now require some form of digital proof of vaccination. While the details of these Covid passes vary from place to place, they function essentially the same way: digital health records, stored on your phone, prove that you present a low risk to others. From a practical perspective, these “vaccine passports” or “digital Covid certificates” drastically cut down

When asked in a TV interview Wednesday about whether the United States would mandate a European-style “health pass” system for nightclubs or bars, Walensky said, “That may very well be a path forward.” The director further said that “in some fully vaccinated venues,” it “is possible” for a fully vaccinated individual to transmit and pick up COVID-19 “in those settings” and added that federal officials have “seen that” during studies. Her comments came after the CDC announced Tuesday it would recommend people wear masks

Washington — Five Republican senators negotiating the bipartisan infrastructure framework said Wednesday they have reached an agreement on the "major issues" of the bill with Senate Democrats and the White House, potentially capping weeks of talks that at times appeared on the brink of collapse. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, who has been leading negotiations for Republicans, announced the breakthrough after meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and four other Republican senators. A vote to advance the measure would require 60 votes, meaning 10 Republicans would have to join all Democrats in voting to begin debate.

If you wanted to try to give people vaccine hesitancy, what would you do that Joe Biden already hasn’t done? I’m not sure you’d act much differently than he has. The latest move today — the CDC issuing guidance that the fully vaccinated should go back to wearing masks in most of the country where the Delta variant might be surging — will leave some who already are questioning the vaccine, to doubt and question it even more. Plus, as we reported, the White House’s explanation for why we should do so amounted to basically: Do it because we told you to do so. Not very confidence-building.

The California Republican said Biden’s reversal could cast doubt on the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccines and force children to wear masks despite the science showing that children are at very low risk of contracting the virus. “Vaccines work and vaccinated Americans should not have to wear masks.
