Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has reacted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation that, among other things, vaccinated people should still wear masks in high-infection areas by reaffirming no mask mandates will be in place in the state. “The time for government mask mandates is over—now is the time for personal responsibility,” Abbott posted on Twitter on Tuesday. “In May, I signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates by gov’t entities.” “Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask or have their children wear masks,” Abbott tweeted.

The Walt Disney Company clapped back at “Black Widow” star Scarlett Johansson, slamming the actress’ breach of contract lawsuit for showing “callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
In a court filing on Thursday, Johansson said Disney’s decision to send the Marvel movie to Disney Plus at the same time it was released in theaters cost her millions of dollars in backend compensation. Those bonuses were tied to hitting box office benchmarks that “Black Widow” likely won’t achieve. Disney is countering that it complied with the terms of Johansson’s deal to star in the Avengers spinoff film.

President Biden announced Thursday that he has instructed military officials to craft a plan for making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for service personnel.
The news comes as Biden also announced that all federal employees will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly or twice weekly testing as well as mask mandates and distancing rules in the workplace.
“After months and months of cases going down, we’re seeing a spike in COVID cases,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. “Why? Because of this new form, this new variant called the delta variant.”
The new rules for federal employees will affect more than 4 million Americans.
You’ve undoubtedly heard the term “toxic fandom” at some point in your internet travels, and if you’ve expressed a negative opinion on any recent entries into a franchise, you’ve likely been accused of being in one.
What is a toxic fandom? In a word; fantasy. A little over a week ago my colleague Charlie Martin noted that the Democrat legislators who abandoned their jobs in Texas and flew on a posh private jet to Washington may have created a COVID super-spreader event.
Of course, this started with them running pictures of flying out of Texas on chartered planes, maskless and with a case of cheap beer — they took Miller Light; if they were going to take cheap beer, why not Lone Star, “the National Beer of Texas”? — and then taking a moment to “revise and correct” the evidence by replacing the picture with one that didn’t show the beer.

The current re-masking of America is driven by hysteria over the Indian variant of covid (renamed the Delta variant when it occurred to liberals that if “China virus” is racist, “Indian variant” must be racist too). It is entirely foreseeable that viruses will mutate, usually to a less lethal form, since it is bad for the virus to kill you. That is what is happening with the Indian form of covid.

Quite frankly, the Democrats’ flip-flops when it comes to the Wuhan coronavirus are just out of control.
Here’s Joe Biden in May explaining to us that it’s “vaxed or masked” “Folks, if you’re fully vaccinated — you no longer need to wear a mask,” Biden said. The Biden team then basically celebrated on July 4th as though they’d beaten the pandemic in a “Mission Accomplished” kind of a way, with a party of 1000 people who weren’t masked. But now, they’re pushing that even if you are fully vaccinated, you need to be masked in areas where the Delta variant is high or substantial.
