The teen who allegedly shot and injured a Marine in Times Square has turned himself over to the NYPD while accompanied by his mom and has been charged with attempted murder, it has been reported. Avon Darden, 16, handed himself over to cops at the Midtown South Precinct station house on Wednesday a whopping ten days after the shooting, the New York Daily News reported. Samuel Poulin, 21, was hit in the back by a ricocheting bullet as he walked with his family near the Marriott Hotel on W. 45th St. around 5:15 p.m. on June 27. The White House issued a memo to state and local officials across the country Monday urging them to use some of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package to combat crime as violence continues to soar in America’s cities.
The memo details how states and municipalities can use the relief funds to boost law enforcement, invest in community policing, enforce gun laws and assist recently released offenders reenter the community. A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in the Bronx Sunday afternoon, police sources told The Post. The male gunman got out of the backseat of a black sedan outside 743 East 187th Street near Prospect Avenue at around 3:15 p.m. and opened fire at two boys on the street, sources said.
