Water on still-flooded I-94 has nowhere
to go but don't swim in it, officials say

The Interstate 94 freeway remained closed Sunday due to flooding in parts of Dearborn and Detroit after storms hit the region over the weekend, according to Michigan's Department of Transportation. "Until the rivers that have crested because of the rain start to ebb, that water has nowhere to go," said Diane Cross, spokeswoman of MDOT. "We cannot pump it anywhere because it just comes right back into the freeway." I-94 is still flooded from east Dearborn to east of I-75.

Comments:

Rules for the road: No tail gaiting. No speeding. Oh, and importantly, no swimming. Our society is doomed.

It sounds like their gameplan for pumping excess water is flawed. They said it keeps draining right back onto to highway - if the pumps are even operating. In a couple days it will drain away on its own.

'Brown also said the flooding was an example of global warming and the need for resilient infrastructure. ' HUH! The flooding is an excuse to fleece the taxpayers. We don't need no stinking engineers to resolve the flooding problems. Global warming is an excuse that works for all occasions.

A couple of weeks ago we had 2 days with 105 degree temps in Salt Lake City. Our 'officials' were all over the news telling us to remember to drink plenty of fluids if we were working outside in the heat. Thank you officials. It wouldn't have occurred to me.

Part of their flooding problem is the copper pipes in their pump houses that were stolen a long time ago. Those pumps are never tested so they always get to discover they don’t work after a hard rain. The definition of insanity. I used to live there.

Don't swim in it, and don't drink it. Unless you are a resident of Flint Michigan - then rejoice in this cleaner water appearing despite the years of hard work of leftists ignoring sound infrastructure practices and spending your tax dollars on hookers.

Every communist in the country can pull the all purpose excuse of “global warming” out at the drop of a hat. They are going to “global warming” us right out of our freedom if we don’t stop them.

LANSING — A Michigan chemical company that arranged for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to fly to Florida in its private jet is under scrutiny from the Federal Aviation Administration, prompting a change in how the flight will be paid for, Whitmer's campaign disclosed Thursday. Whitmer's reelection campaign will pay PVS Chemicals of Detroit for the $27,521 cost of the flight to visit Whitmer's father, not a nonprofit corporation that Whitmer controls, as announced earlier, Whitmer campaign attorney Christopher Trebilcock said in a letter obtained by the Free Press.

Lansing — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer traveled out of state earlier this year to visit her father who is battling a chronic illness, spokesman Bobby Leddy said Monday. The acknowledgment came after spring break trips made by two members of Whitmer's administration drew criticism amid surging COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in the state. Whitmer's trip took place more than four weeks ago, before Michigan began leading the nation in new cases per population, Leddy said. Whitmer's father has a property in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to public records. "The governor did not go on spring break, and she has not left the state in over a month," Leddy said.

It's a simple enough question: Did she or did she not go on vacation last week to the Gulf of Mexico while the pandemic raged in Michigan? Elizabeth Hertel, the state's director of health and human services, will not say. Her office instead prefers the dark art of deflection, dissembling and sleight-of-hand.This comes on the heels of news that her colleague Tricia Foster, the state's chief operating officer who is in charge of Michigan's vaccine roll out, beat it for the sunny climes of the Keys during spring break, while Whitmer warned the rest of us to stay away from Florida

The Catholic Church in America has been thrust into a new and unprecedented crisis—namely the election of Joseph Biden to the presidency. If not dealt with properly, Biden’s presidency will cause serious damage to the very truth of what it means to be Catholic.Of course, I am referring to the fact that while Biden professes the Catholic faith, he fully supports legalized abortion, same-sex “marriage” and transgenderism, and vowed that he will do all he can to advance these causes during his administration. Nonetheless, Biden’s practice of Catholicism will be on display for the whole world to observe—as he attends Mass and receives Holy Communion.

Detroit election officials are projecting 50% voter turnout in the city of Detroit, higher than in 2016, but lower than in 2012 and 2008 when Barack Obama's candidacy drew high voter participation. And the number of absentee ballots the city is expecting is now lower than officials had estimated earlier this month. Speaking Thursday to reporters in the basement of TCF Center in downtown Detroit, Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey and other election officials said they are working to prepare for a historic election in Michigan — a swing state that many will be closely watching next week.

DENVER  — As the delta variant continues to spread throughout the country, the World Health Organization is asking vaccinated people to still wear masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, however have not changed, allowing fully vaccinated people to go without a mask. In Denver-area hospitals, doctors tell FOX31 at least half of the unvaccinated COVID-19 patients are sick with the delta variant. The variant is significantly more contagious, and the symptoms patients feel are worse than from the original COVID-19 virus. Doctors continue to stress the message, that it’s the vaccines that will ultimately stop the spread. CORRECTION*
