And so it ends. On Friday, June 18, 2021 the Rush Limbaugh Show officially shut down the Golden EIB microphone. As it happened, it fell to my local Harrisburg radio host, WHP’s Ken Matthews, to be the last “guide” host that had shepherded the show since Rush departed to give back the talent he had on loan from God. The realization that Rush’s show - which had continued since his death with guide hosts and taped Rush playbacks on various topics - was now, in fact, irretrievably over and never to return was both poignant and a tad unnerving for his fans.

There aren’t many bright spots in American politics these days, especially when one is peering inside the Beltway. The performance of my senior senator here in Arizona — Kyrsten Sinema — has been refreshing so far.
Sinema wrote an op-ed on Monday for The Washington Post reaffirming her opposition to ending the filibuster. Predictably, libs all over are triggered by this common sense, moderate approach to governing. She’s a woman who sticks to her principles, which is something I need to set up here before I get to the stuff mentioned in the headline. From her op-ed:
It’s no secret that I oppose eliminating the Senate’s 60-vote threshold.
One in four adults age 18 to 39 in the United States "probably or definitely" will refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine, according to survey data released Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Roughly the same percentage said they were "unsure" or "probably would" receive the vaccine, the data showed.
These percentages were both higher among Black people, with nearly one-third indicating that they would probably or definitely not get inoculated against the coronavirus and 28% suggesting they were unsure.
Among respondents who reported that they would likely refuse the immunization, just under 57% cited "lack of trust in COVID-19 vaccines"
Monday marked the 21st day of June, a month that Joe Biden hoped would see the passage of his extreme voting rights power grab, as well as a huge infrastructure bill. So far, neither has happened and CBS This Morning journalists began to fret about what to do next. In fact, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki seemed to indicate that the so-called “For the People” act was doomed.

With the COVID pandemic waning across the country, the time for reflection on what exactly happened and how it was handled is upon us. On that front, lockdowns and government overreach are at or near the top of the list of recriminations to be made. Policies pushed on a vulnerable, fearful public as necessary because “science” arbitrarily destroyed jobs and small businesses across the country, and many of them won’t be coming back. So who benefited the most? You’ll be less than shocked to learn it’s the people who always benefit when big government gets involved – billionaires and big business.
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled on Monday that the NCAA can no longer bar colleges from offering student-athletes education-related benefits, including free laptops or paid post-graduate internships, in the name of amateurism.
The ruling does not specifically address the question of paying athletes directly, however.
Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote on behalf of the court that the NCAA “seeks immunity from the normal operation of the antitrust laws,” adding that the court declines the request because “this suit involves admitted horizontal price fixing in a market where the defendants exercise monopoly control.”
White House National-Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the U.S. would not immediately issue “threats” to China regarding an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, in an interview on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday.
Host Dana Bash asked Sullivan whether the U.S. would “take action to increase the pressure” on China if that country continues to bar access to investigators. Bash noted that “we still don’t know whether the coronavirus developed naturally or came from a lab in Wuhan.” Sullivan said the Biden administration is working on the issue on “two tracks,”
The city of Evanston, Illinois, located just north of Chicago, joined communities across the U.S. in celebrating their first in-person Juneteenth parade Saturday, but some have been left wondering why celebrations for the nation’s Independence Day have been canceled.

Sometimes, you just have to take the L. Perhaps Nikki Fried didn’t expect CNN’s Poppy Harlow to insist on it. In an interview yesterday with the presumed Democratic frontrunner to take on Ron DeSantis, Fried refused to credit the governor for getting anything right about the COVID-19 pandemic response in Florida.
When Fried began to criticize DeSantis on nursing home policy, however, New York-based Harlow snapped back that DeSantis was “one of the quickest governors to lock down the nursing homes — the opposite of what happened here in New York.” Fried never really recovered from that pushback
Governor Abbott threatened to defund the Texas Legislature after Texas Democrats walked out of the legislative session rather than take a vote on election reform laws. When they broke quorum and shut down the session, Abbott said that if legislators weren’t going to do their jobs, they shouldn’t be paid. Friday Abbott made good on that threat.
The elections bill was a top priority for the governor during this year’s session. Texas Democrats decided to cut and run, breaking quorum, instead of voting on Senate Bill 7. They knew that the Republicans had the votes to pass the legislation – both the Texas House and the Texas Senate hold Republican majorities.

The Confederate battle flag, which was crafted as a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery, is just recently tired. We don’t see it much anymore. However, on the 6th, when the stormers rained on the nation’s most precious hut, waving Old Glory — the memo was received: the American flag is its replacement.
President Biden, Madame Harris and members of Congress: the American flag has been hijacked as code for a specific belief. God bless those believers, they can have it. Good news, everyone. Freezing lethal aid to Ukraine in order to thwart Russia is now good again. All it took was Donald Trump leaving office. Weird, right?
I know, politics often mimics parody, but this is a bit much. When was that aid frozen? You guessed it, right after Biden met with Vladamir Putin. Prior to that meeting, the Russian Defense Minister had said they would pull troops back that had been stationed near the Ukrainian border. That hasn’t actually happened, though, so why would Biden make this move after meeting with Putin?
But despite Russia’s announcement, a top Ukrainian official said in May that about 100,000 Russian troops were still near

CNN’s Don Lemon wore his thoughts on his sleeve in Sunday’s Washington Post Magazine feature on him (published online last Tuesday). In more than one instance he vented to reporter Eric Easter about just how racist America and white people were, while at the same time unironically lamenting about how we didn’t show enough grace to other people. At one point he even suggested that America may not even see blacks as “fully human” at all.The headline for the interview clearly laid out where they wanted to take things with a quote from Lemon suggesting: “We’re living in two different realities as Black and White people.”
The Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada recently hosted its first-ever drag queen show at one of its on-base dining and entertainment clubs, according a base spokesperson.

It was widely believed, and not without evidence, that the media, Big Tech, and other Democratic actors were pushing Biden into the White House with the hope that he could be replaced if certain developments occurred -- that is, if his failing mental condition or corrupt past made his continued occupation of the Oval Office problematic. (snip) Why have the media failed to sell Kamala Harris to their viewers as someone ready to jump into Joe’s shoes, if his advancing debilitation required it?

White House press secretary Jen Psaki, responding to reports of alleged nepotism in the Biden White House, said on Monday that the Biden administration has higher ethics standards than any other presidential administration ever. "Let me say first that we have the highest ethical standards of any administration in history," Psaki said, speaking in Trumpian superlative. "A number of ethics officials have conveyed that and we're proud of that. We've also staffed up at an unprecedented pace and this is the most diverse administration in American history. Portland ran a pricy full-page Sunday ad in the New York Times promoting tourism after the Portland police riot squad quit Thursday.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that Laurel Hubbard, a male who identifies as a woman, will become the first trans athlete to compete in the Olympics.
According to ESPN:
Hubbard was among five weightlifters confirmed Monday in New Zealand’s team for Tokyo. At 43, she will also be the oldest weightlifter at the games, and will be ranked fourth in the competition on Aug. 2 for women 87 kilograms (192 pounds) and over.
