Portland ran a pricy full-page Sunday ad in the New York Times promoting tourism after the Portland police riot squad quit Thursday. “Some of what you’ve heard about Portland is true. Some is not. What matters most is that we’re true to ourselves,” Travel Portland wrote in the ad. [SNIP] “You’ve heard a lot about us lately. It’s been a while since you heard from us,” it continues. “After a year of encouraging visitors and locals to support small businesses here and from a distance, it’s time to issue an invitation to come back to Portland."

A food truck festival planned for Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood was cancelled Sunday after outrage when a Israeli food truck was uninvited to the event.
The Israeli food truck, Moshava Philly, said in an Instagram post that they were asked not to come to Sunday's "The Taste of Home" event after organizers, Eat Up the Borders and Sunflower Philly, heard there could be protests over its inclusion.

A Roman Catholic bishop from Rhode Island is facing backlash for a tweet labeling LGBTQ Pride Month events as "especially harmful for children" and arguing that those who follow the faith should not support them.
Bishop of Providence Thomas Tobin sent the message on Saturday, the first day of LGBTQ Pride Month and argued that the events in the honorary month "promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals."
