A lot was made last week about Tuesday May 25th being the first anniversary of George Floyd's death while in police custody. For me, the most graphic indication of the impact of Floyd’s death and its year-long over-the-top aftermath was provided by the photograph and videos of George Floyd’s relatives last Tuesday outside the White House after they met with President Biden and Vice President Harris. Right in front of the White House, family members and their attorney had their clenched fists raised and pumping in the air in a radical black power salute reminiscent of the Marxist Black Panthers of the late 1960s.

As an admittedly partisan writer, my bias shows up in the subjects I cover, not in the facts I report. I want to know what the other guys know. It is always helpful, often essential.

The last American president with actual combat experience, in a conflict where the United States proved victorious, was George H.W. Bush. During World War II, Bush served as a pilot with Torpedo Squadron 51 (VT-51) and on his 58th mission he was shot down by the Japanese and rescued by a U.S. submarine.
Joe Biden never served in the military but from 2008-2016 he was vice president to the composite character David Garrow described in Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama. The former Barry Soetoro never served, and for the Obama-Biden team, the role of the U.S. military was not to defeat America’s enemies.

One analyst, writing on Twitter suggested that even if suspicions the coronavirus pandemic originated in a lab should prove well-founded, that little would come of it because regional reactions had already taken it into account. The world would move on as before in other words.
But this is unlikely for several reasons the most obvious of which are:

Several counties in Oregon on May 18 voted to consider joining the state of Idaho, which is part of a long-shot movement to break away from the state that has long been dominated by politicians in Portland.
Voters in Malheur, Sherman, Grant, Baker, and Lake counties approved various measures that require county officials to take steps to look into moving the Idaho border west to incorporate the counties.
The grassroots group Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho is aiming to have the eastern counties—which are mostly rural—join Idaho because they believe they would be better off with Idaho’s more conservative political leadership.

The last few weeks have not been a happy time for the royalty which once ruled the Republican Party.
Liz Cheney lost her leadership role in the House Republican Conference. Mitt Romney was not met with overwhelming acclaim at the Utah Republican Convention. And former President George W. Bush did an interview which again demonstrated his irrelevance to both his party and the country.
The GOP’s royal families – the Bushes, Romneys and Cheneys -- view the party as their patrimony. Romney is the son of a governor who ran for president in 1964.

By a vote of 217-209, the House rejected a bid to bring a bill to the floor that would have applied sanctions against the terror group Hamas. The sanctions targeted foreign individuals and governments that assist Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Both organizations are terror groups so designated by the State Department.
The bill had been introduced by Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) and would have reauthorized the Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act. The act passed the House last session but failed to make it to the Senate floor.
“Under my bill, the United States will sanction these groups that are supporting terrorism,”
Joe Biden and other political leaders are doing everything they can to get the vaccine stragglers to do their patriotic, civic duty and get vaccinated against the coronavirus. Ohio has begun a million-dollar lottery to encourage people to take the vaccine. Other states are giving out free beer for getting jabbed or other enticements.
But Joe Biden thinks that strong-arming the American people into getting jabbed will be effective. The 78-year-old President of the United States, Joe Biden, is not well. He is suffering from an obvious mental decline. Americans are not sure of his exact condition because he has not released any mental competency test results. When he was asked about it during the presidential campaign, he responded in anger and accused the news reporter who posed the question of being a “junkie.”

When asked about a 1/6 commission, Crow said, “The question now is of timing. If Mitch McConnell said we’ll take another vote on this, I think the question for Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer is, do we believe him that this will be a vote in good faith?
