Phil Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship on Sunday at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. In doing so, the 50-year-old Mickelson became the oldest to win a major. The win was Mickelson’s sixth career major, and his second PGA Championship. Mickelson also won the PGA Championship in 2005 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. His other major wins include the Masters (2004, 2006, 2010) and British Open (2013).Louis Oosthuizen and Brooks Koepka chased Mickelson in Sunday’s final round but finished tied for second, two strokes back. According to ESPN, Mickeslon “hadn’t won since 2019 at Pebble Beach,

Phil seems to be a good guy. I'm happy for him. He's still playing well for his age because he got himself into great physical shape to compete with Tiger Woods and it's still paying off for him.

I was glad to see Phil win. Great golfer! Did you notice the crowd? Huge. No masks. People are sick of the Faux Fauci Flu. People want to be free to attend an event and have fun. Great win. Best and wildest golf crowd ever.

In the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry in Scotland Tom Watson, only days from his 60th birthday, needed a par on the 72nd hole to win his sixth Open Championship. He made bogey, and Stewart Cink won the four hole playoff. It was always going to take something exceptional to beat Mr. Boros's 1968 record as the oldest major championship winner. I'm so proud of Phil Mickelson for breaking that barrier. One reason why golf is the greatest game of all (in the words of Mr. Nicklaus) is that men in early middle age are still capable of world class play, still capable of the magic they cultivated as young players, still capable of beating anyone in the world. One correction of the record: The PGA Championship has one of the strongest fields in all of championship golf, but the field's twenty or so club pros weaken it to below the quality of the Player's, where everyone is an exempt member of the PGA Tour. That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Even the best club pros cannot stay with their Tour brothers for all four rounds.

Meant to add that I am a big fan of Louis Oosthuizen. He now has 4 runners up trophies (all but the British Open, which he won in 2010). He seems to always be there quietly lurking.

Mickelson was good but he was also lucky. Because he played his first round early on Thursday (-5) he got in ahead of the real windy conditions that eliminated DJ and some of the best power golfers in the world who never broke par and missed the cut on Friday. His final score of -6 (well down from his -10 peak) was a nail biter and made for some good TV.

Whether it was appearing confused at times or needing help from others including First Lady Jill Biden and other world leaders, there’s just no hiding the fact that President Biden’s trip overseas for the G7 and now the NATO summit has been a major catastrophe for this administration. Unlike the New York Times staffer who told MSNBC it was “disturbing” to see dozens of American flags flying last weekend, I loved seeing so many storefronts and houses decked out in flags and red, white, and blue bunting over Memorial Day. All year, I’ve noticed more flags than usual and wondered how many were silent acts of defiant patriotism in the face of so much homegrown anti-American animosity. On this Flag Day, the 244th anniversary of the Continental Congress’s adoption of the Stars and Stripes, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on both the well-cherished and little-known history of Old Glory.

Probably the same person who thought it was a good idea to send Kamala Harris to Guatemala and Mexico. It’s been a complete embarrassing mess for Biden. It started with his wife providing some bad optics, sitting at the presidential desk on Air Force One, tweeting that she was “prepping for the G7” and then once they got to England, scolding Joe to “pay attention.” It continued into Sunday, with Biden getting confused and Boris Johnson actually shushing him twice, with the other leaders laughing.

COVID shutdowns championed by U.S. governors and D.C. bureaucrats are responsible for destroying nearly 40% of small businesses since the virus was unleashed on the world—and we know now that it was for little to no damned good reason. A study by the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences revealed recently that shutdown orders made little to no difference in COVID’s impact. From the abstract of the study: “Previous studies have claimed that shelter-in-place orders saved thousands of lives, but we reassess these analyses and show that they are not reliable. We find that shelter-in-place orders had no detectable health benefits, only modest effects on behavior,
