For more than a year, honest and impartial scientific exploration of the origins of the Covid-19 virus has been blocked, with consideration of the possibility that it was engineered in the Wuhan Institute of Virology virtually suppressed, mocked as a “conspiracy theory.” This has had enormous real-world consequences, not merely because it let off the hook China – and Dr. Fauci, who approved American money flowing to gain-of-function research there on coronaviruses -- but because “an engineered virus behaves differently from a naturally evolved one, and this has implications for how it can best be fought.”

Usually the origin of a novel virus is a matter of great debate and investigation. This time we're told ''Nothing to see here''. In the meantime over 3 million are dead, and counting.

The good news is that we now know who to trust when it comes to our health issues. It is NOT the CDC or WHO. It is NOT the democrats in government. It is NOT the media. It is NOT big tech.
All of them are liars, who would sacrifice our lives for political power!

Just follow the science. And the money. Quite possibly the election returns, too. No theory is too crazy.

Science died when it caved to the climate change fear mongers. Now it has caved to the pandemic fear monger. Science is money making operation. Facts are secondary.

Have you no shame dr. Fauci? For once in your life would you take off your mask and tell the truth about the origin of this virus and let the chips fall. This is your last chance to try to redeem yourself and gain back a small amount of integrity. Your lies just aren’t working anymore.

Gain of function on a virus, carefully preserved in a laboratory, allows a preemptive immunization to be developed.
The upside to doing this, with the study of the bats, is the possibility of creating vaccines that could save millions of lives.
Compare that to knowing next Tuesday's ,mega, milion numbers to be drawn.
The downside to gain of function research is that a sloppy lab (something Wuhan Lab has a reputation for)
could have caused an accidental release of the King Flu virus in Wuhan.
My best guess is that a lab janitor took some of those dead virus laden bats, and sold them to a wet market vendor in Wuhan, instead of incinerating them. (There were no cases of Kung Flu reported among lab workers.)
Medical research has had some ethical problems over the past century, even in the U.S.
Dr. Salk tested his polio vaccine on institutionalized mentally retarded patients. and there were no complaints.
Gonorrhea patients were given malaria to kill off the bacteria. Siphilis patients were injected with mercury and colloidal gold.
And as evil as the Nazi physicians were, in experimenting on death camp patients, they did that to advance medicine, to a large degree. (except for the tattooed lamp shades.)
If Fauci would have come clean from the very beginning, I doubt there would be discussions of weaponized Kung Flu. The Chinese are to clever for that.

Pleas explain how "gain of function research" is different from "developing a bioweapon", because at this point the only difference I can detect involves spelling.

2nd post apologies, but, #8, a virus mutates, and virologists who develop this year's flu vaccine create it by guessing the future direction of the flu virus. Sometimes their gues is god, and the vaccine is highly effective, and sometimes, not good at all.
Gain of function research would allow virologists to have next year's mutations this year, and the vaccine would be spot on
Could gain of function research also create a possibility of creating a super weapon, but that is not logical. The goal in almost any war is to capture territory, not to kill everyone.
Even filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs don't want to kill every infidel. They want to convert the infidel.

I think President Trump's instincts were good on the virus and Dr. Fauci. For whatever reason, possibly owing to the beating he took early on in the press on matters COVID, the president did not follow through on clipping Fauci's wings or on exposing the culpability of US government scientists and non-profits using taxpayer money in supporting the CCP's development of the virus as a highly effective leftist social, political and economic WMD.

5, The fact that Fauci has not been arrested speaks volumes. Small businesses in my community have gone t ts up but large grocery stores are realizing billions. Shopping today, a store charged me 25 cents for ONE bag. The young girl said it was for the ecology. I told her to tell her manager that I would not be back to her store. I also told her, calmly, that people are getting very rich during these hard times and those people are not her nor me. I will not shop there again.

The article by Matthew Crawford that Lifson refers to is great. It's on the British website UnHerd, one of the more interesting places, where views from all sides are presented in good writing with no namecalling.
