Covid’s origins and the systemic
corruption of science

Original Article

For more than a year, honest and impartial scientific exploration of the origins of the Covid-19 virus has been blocked, with consideration of the possibility that it was engineered in the Wuhan Institute of Virology virtually suppressed, mocked as a “conspiracy theory.” This has had enormous real-world consequences, not merely because it let off the hook China – and Dr. Fauci, who approved American money flowing to gain-of-function research there on coronaviruses -- but because “an engineered virus behaves differently from a naturally evolved one, and this has implications for how it can best be fought.”

Comments:

The article by Matthew Crawford that Lifson refers to is great. It's on the British website UnHerd, one of the more interesting places, where views from all sides are presented in good writing with no namecalling.

Usually the origin of a novel virus is a matter of great debate and investigation. This time we're told ''Nothing to see here''. In the meantime over 3 million are dead, and counting.

The good news is that we now know who to trust when it comes to our health issues. It is NOT the CDC or WHO. It is NOT the democrats in government. It is NOT the media. It is NOT big tech. All of them are liars, who would sacrifice our lives for political power!

Have you no shame dr. Fauci? For once in your life would you take off your mask and tell the truth about the origin of this virus and let the chips fall. This is your last chance to try to redeem yourself and gain back a small amount of integrity. Your lies just aren’t working anymore.

Gain of function on a virus, carefully preserved in a laboratory, allows a preemptive immunization to be developed. The upside to doing this, with the study of the bats, is the possibility of creating vaccines that could save millions of lives. Compare that to knowing next Tuesday's ,mega, milion numbers to be drawn. The downside to gain of function research is that a sloppy lab (something Wuhan Lab has a reputation for) could have caused an accidental release of the King Flu virus in Wuhan. My best guess is that a lab janitor took some of those dead virus laden bats, and sold them to a wet market vendor in Wuhan, instead of incinerating them. (There were no cases of Kung Flu reported among lab workers.) Medical research has had some ethical problems over the past century, even in the U.S. Dr. Salk tested his polio vaccine on institutionalized mentally retarded patients. and there were no complaints. Gonorrhea patients were given malaria to kill off the bacteria. Siphilis patients were injected with mercury and colloidal gold. And as evil as the Nazi physicians were, in experimenting on death camp patients, they did that to advance medicine, to a large degree. (except for the tattooed lamp shades.) If Fauci would have come clean from the very beginning, I doubt there would be discussions of weaponized Kung Flu. The Chinese are to clever for that.

Pleas explain how "gain of function research" is different from "developing a bioweapon", because at this point the only difference I can detect involves spelling.

2nd post apologies, but, #8, a virus mutates, and virologists who develop this year's flu vaccine create it by guessing the future direction of the flu virus. Sometimes their gues is god, and the vaccine is highly effective, and sometimes, not good at all. Gain of function research would allow virologists to have next year's mutations this year, and the vaccine would be spot on Could gain of function research also create a possibility of creating a super weapon, but that is not logical. The goal in almost any war is to capture territory, not to kill everyone. Even filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs don't want to kill every infidel. They want to convert the infidel.

I think President Trump's instincts were good on the virus and Dr. Fauci. For whatever reason, possibly owing to the beating he took early on in the press on matters COVID, the president did not follow through on clipping Fauci's wings or on exposing the culpability of US government scientists and non-profits using taxpayer money in supporting the CCP's development of the virus as a highly effective leftist social, political and economic WMD.

5, The fact that Fauci has not been arrested speaks volumes. Small businesses in my community have gone t ts up but large grocery stores are realizing billions. Shopping today, a store charged me 25 cents for ONE bag. The young girl said it was for the ecology. I told her to tell her manager that I would not be back to her store. I also told her, calmly, that people are getting very rich during these hard times and those people are not her nor me. I will not shop there again.

Happy Whit Monday to my Commonwealth cousins throughout the Caribbean and the Pacific, and to our readers in much of Continental Europe. (Snip) Front page news from yesterday's New York Times: World Is Facing First Long Slide in Its Population Me in my international bestseller fifteen years ago: The single most important fact about the early 21st century is the rapid aging of almost every developed nation other than the United States: Canada, Europe and Japan are getting old fast, older than any functioning society has ever been and faster than any has ever aged... These countries – or, more precisely, these people – are going out of business.

Two and a half months ago, when Texas Governor Greg Abbott axed the state’s mask mandate and other COVID-related restrictions on businesses and people, Joe Biden called the move a “huge mistake” and “Neanderthal thinking.” Dr. Anthony Fauci, who advises Biden, called it “risky” and “potentially dangerous.” Both were proven wrong when weeks later Texas experienced no surge in cases. A dumbfounded Fauci refused to admit he was wrong and claimed that a spike in cases and deaths would show up as a lagging indicator.

President Joe Biden has been moving at breakneck speed to undo every policy of his predecessor that he can, but he seems not to be giving any thought to whether the underlying policy is good. If former President Donald Trump made it, Biden will unmake it—even if he later has to remake it, as in the case of recently resumed border wall construction. Among the orders worth retaining that Biden nonetheless axed is Executive Order 13980. That order required agencies that issue regulations with criminal penalties to “be explicit about what conduct is subject to criminal penalties and the ‘mens rea’ standard applicable to those offenses.”

Wade is a science journalist who has written articles for the big publishers. His Origin of COVID article is a clear-eyed analysis of what we do and don’t know. He tells us the details that lead a reasonable reader to conclude that the Wuhan Virology Institute created the COVID19 virus and through sloppy techniques released the virus. The disease spread rapidly, killing millions and attacking elderly populations in particular.

It began fourteen months ago when death was served up in huge helpings with morning coffee. The initial assault was blitzkrieg shock -- irresistible. A Texas judge tossed out the National Rifle Association’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition on Tuesday, allowing a lawsuit brought against the group by the New York attorney general to move forward. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Harlin Hale said the NRA “did not file the bankruptcy petition in good faith,” arguing that the filing was made in an effort to avoid the lawsuit by state attorney general Letitia James’ office. The suit aims to dissolve the group over allegations of financial impropriety. “The question the court is faced with is whether the existential threat facing the NRA is the type of threat that the Bankruptcy Code is meant to protect against,” Hale wrote.
Professor Explains Flaw in Many Models

Economics professor Doug Allen wanted to know why so many early models used to create COVID-19 lockdown policies turned out to be highly incorrect. What he found was that a great majority were based on false assumptions and “tended to over-estimate the benefits and under-estimate the costs.” He found it troubling that policies such as total lockdowns were based on those models. (Snip) Allen says most of the early cost-benefit studies that he reviewed didn’t try to distinguish between mandated and voluntary changes in people’s behaviour in the face of a pandemic. Rather, they just assumed an exponential growth of cases of infection day after day until herd immunity is reached.

From the beginning of COVID's outbreak in China, there's been a steady drumbeat of information saying the Chinese created COVID in a lab and, accidentally or on purpose, unleashed it on the world. The World Health Organization, the Democrats, the Deep State, and the tech tyrants managed to suppress that information in 2020, but it's roared back this year. Tucker Carlson put the pieces together in his opening monologue and, with help from Chinese scientist Li-Meng Yan, makes it plain that, even if China didn't deliberately release the virus, it turned it into a weapon of biological warfare by withholding information about it.
