Mitt Romney Censured in Utah

Original Article

Posted By: DW626, 5/9/2021 9:59:46 AM

Never-Trump Senator Mitt Romney was censured Saturday night by Weber County Republicans. This was after the Utah Republican Party failed to censure Romney at their state convention last weekend. The vote was 116 to 97. Romney was a bitter Trump critic who continues to spout off against the most popular Republican President in US History.

Comments:

There’s not much written here in this article. However it appears, Pierre Defecto is being put on notice. Not an overwhelming majority in favor of censure, whatever that really means, but at least it’s something.

Please remember, Mitt was INSTALLED, not elected. The globalist mormons changed the rules to put him on the ballot after the voters failed to put him there. Mitt claimed he represents "the values of Utah," but he only represents the values of the mormon leaders here. They are globalists and hate Donald Trump with a vengeance. All for more diverse DNA imported by their missionaries to bring some health to their inbred fertility-based religion.

#1, you ought to be ashamed of yourself painting the totality of Mormonism (and its membership) with such a broad, bigoted brush. The focus of this article is on Romney’s deserved censure, not on the “globalist mormons” who got him “installed.” I know plenty of Mormons, and, to a man, they are some of the most upstanding, conservative people I know. So, stop it with your petty bigotry, innuendo, ad hominem, idiocy. You’re certainly living up to your inane moniker.

Thank you #2! I am a 'Utah Mormon' and I know very few people here who support senator mitt. Ironically, those who are happiest with him are the democrats who think he is the closet thing to a democrat they will get in Utah. Yes, mitt and the establishment republicans here did change the rules (legally) to get him elected the first time, but he won't get elected again, should he choose to run. Politically engaged conservatives were wary of him when he ran for president, and totally against him after he gave his anti-trump speech prior to the 2016 election. Those who aren't so engaged voted for him the first time around because of name recognition. We heard a lot about him during the 2002 olympics and then again when he was the republican nominee. Any goodwill he once had has evaporated along with his chances for a second senatorial term. I don't know why poster #1 continues to live in a state he hates so much. Maybe he's just mean?

Mitt was elected with the endorsement of PDT, saying “He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!”. How he won the election with so few now admitting to have voted for him is a mystery.

The vote was from one county with a score like an NBA game. A win but not overwhelming. There may be more to come. I’ve been surprised and shocked at the bigotry here at Lucianne as exhibited in #1 opinions and approved by several people. The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are good people. When our daughter was in piano competitions in the Midwest all the winners were invariably a combination of Asian, homeschooled, or LDS people. They sure must be doing something right.

The fact that Romney got 97 votes means that RINOs still roam in Utah. They should go into extinction along with annoying and distracting pop-up ads found on some web sites.

The great progressive dream is to dispense with rule by us mere citizens in favor of a government staffed by technocratic, disinterested experts who selflessly apply the principles of science (social science and real science) to create a better, more efficient, effective, and impactful society. Of course, the progressive advocates of expertocracy assume that those experts will share their coastal, urban and blue perspectives, mores, and values – funny how that works. And it has been working, for them at least.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Mr. Chuck Schumer, portrays himself as an unrelenting warrior for democracy and the champion of the oppressed. But in his narrow perspective, in which maintaining his and his party’s political power appears as an overriding value that trumps all other values, he does not seem to realize that he confuses things that the majority of the American people do not. Would someone, please, explain to him that cheating on behalf of the oppressed has virtually nothing to do with democracy and that a lack of ability or will to succeed in a merit-based society does not automatically make one an oppressed person?

Ballot audits not withstanding, I doubt there is a bigger story that will surface this year and this one has familiar tentacles… As the discussion surrounding the release of emails from Anthony Fauci ripples through the media, we should all consider carefully the consequential ramifications of the discussion upon our nation. At the heart of the current debate is a question about whether the SARS-CoV-2 virus originated from a bio research lab in Wuhan China. An article in Vanity Fair magazine provides some stark background to contemplate:

I’m not the first person to note that whatever Democrats accuse their opponents of doing, it is they, in fact, who are doing it. If you are puzzled why the Biden Administration scotched the Keystone Pipeline but gave a thumbs up on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Germany, perhaps this explanation will help. Under the banner of “green energy” to control emissions. Germany began shutting down the cleanest emitting power stations: nuclear. In 2000, nuclear had a 29.5 percent share of its power generation mix. In 2020 that share dropped to 11.4 percent and next year every one of its nuclear plants is scheduled to be shut down.

Eliot L. Engel was a Bronx congressman, elected in 1988. He served from 1989 until 2021. A literal liberal Democrat, he was a reliable supporter of Israel. His last term, he rose to be chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, 2019 to 2021. As chairman, he was in position to contain the rabid anti-Israel ramblings of the new, totalitarian-minded Democrat leftists. The Wall Street Journal, in a May 18 news report, informed readers that Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, the Democrat who succeeded Mr. Engel as chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee

But I'm going to reject the normal rules of civility and tell you how I really feel about Dr. Anthony Fauci: I flat out don't like him! True, I don't know the man. Never met him. But after more than a year of seeing his arrogant, condescending face almost daily on the national news, I feel as if I have a pretty good sense of the character, or lack thereof, of Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Over the past few years, the term “woke” has been among the most bandied-about words in the English language. For those of us in our alleged golden years, we have always assumed woke is the past tense or past participle of wake (the state of being awake after sleeping). However, the current usage belies that assumption. In checking with the ever-reliable Urban Dictionary, the present-day meaning of woke is: “The act of being very pretentious about how much you care about a social issue.” In light of the mindset of many leftists and liberals, “very pretentious” pretty much says it all.

I ignored the story that Bill and Melinda Gates are getting a divorce. Their personal life holds no interest for me, although I care that Bill Gates is having an outsize say in both the climate change debate and in the response to COVID. His skills as a computer programmer and his genius as a shark, scooping up other people's creations, do not make him qualified to weigh in on the climate or COVID. But as I said, his personal life was a "meh" — that is, right until the Wall Street Journal hinted that Bill Gates's involvement with Jeffrey Epstein led directly to his divorce.

Canada lacks the miracle that is the United States Constitution. Still, as befits a nation the once-free British founded, it is a country that has traditionally had a few of what we consider to be core English freedoms – freedom of speech, worship, assembly, etc. Those concepts seem far away now, as Justin Trudeau and the various provincial and municipal governments use COVID as an excuse to crack down on those liberties. I’ve written before about Canada’s draconian and expensive hotel rule for people returning by air from overseas travel. Late Friday the British publication DailyMail reported that the United States Department of Defense provided $39 million in grant funding to “EcoHealth Alliance” as part of the aggregated grant funding received by EcoHealth Alliance to conduct various types of “gain of function” virus research – a type of research in which scientists engineer viruses to make them more transmissible or lethal and which can be used to create bioweapons. Former President Obama criticized voting laws being passed by Republicans across the country, saying that such changes to the voting system is "rigging the game." He said during an Economic Club of Chicago event Friday about the new election integrity law in Georgia: That's the kind of dangerous behavior that we're going to have to push back on. Obama suggested that urban areas will face more barriers in order to vote, alleging that the law made a "different set of rules for how votes are counted in Atlanta versus how they're counted in the rest of Georgia."

The Supreme Court is being asked to decide whether it is discrimination for the government to require only men to register for the draft when they turn 18.The question of whether it is unconstitutional to require men but not women to register could be viewed as one with little practical impact. The last time there was a draft was during the Vietnam War, and the military has been all-volunteer since. But the registration requirement is one of the few remaining places where federal law treats men and women differently, and women's groups are among those arguing that allowing it to stand is harmful.
